I recommend this hotel highly! The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was old world Caribbean. I felt as if Hemingway was in the parlor writing, "As the Sun Also Rises." Breakfast was included and delicious. And the rooftop pool was a little oasis and great for a dip! Go if you can --- Cartagena is waiting!
This is a gem of a boutique hotel; the rooms are very comfortable and clean and the common spaces, such as the living rooms and dining areas are beautifully appointed. The highlight, however, has to be all of our interactions with the staff. Christian and Martin were both outstanding, and if I have a chance to return to Cartegena, I hope to stay here and see both Martin and Christian again.
This a charming property with excellent service. My room was small and dark, but that turned out to be a welcome relief from the sun and heat. The sitting areas (salons) and roof with a small pool are the highlights of the property. Amenities (like soaps in the room and breakfast) are top notch. Highly recommend, and I would stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel located perfectly in the walled city. The service was excellent and friendly, the rooms beautiful and clean, and the men working at the front desk were very helpful and genuinely warm. The breakfast was really lovely with fresh squeezed juices, fresh breads, fruits and your choice of a breakfast dish (omelettes, arepas, etc). They helped us arrange transportation from the airport as well as to our next stay near Tayrona National Park. They treated us like family and I would return without hesitation.
We had an amazing experience at this wonderful Boutique Hotel. The staff was very kind and our host Martin Reyes provided some superb tips for the Islas Rosarios as well as restaurant recommendations. he was always very helpful and can definitely recommend this hotel in the Old Town of Cartagena.
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Casa del Coliseo in early December. What a great find! I would describe the cleanliness as immaculate. Yes, there is noise on the street but our room had a sound resistant door to the balcony that essentially blocked out the noise so that we slept well. Our room was smaller than typical American hotel but who cares? Plenty of space to lounge about in the hotel. The staff was truly amazing, willing to go out of their way to make our stay comfortable. I recommend Casa del Coliseo without hesitation.
We loved our stay here! The staff, led by Martin and Yeison at the door, Jhon and one very hard-working chef in the restaurant, and everyone else whose name I unfortunately didn't get (cleaning staff and the rest of the door and restaurant crew) worked very hard to make our stay pleasant. They were able to help with recommendations and gave us lots of tips on traveling in the city. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. The one thing that I would try to ask for is a non street facing room as the city gets very loud at night (I doubt that this is unique to this hotel).
The hotel is situated right on the center of Cartagena. The service was beyond amazing! Cheira greeted us with a smile every morning during breakfast. She was so kind and friendly and made our stay extra special. The reception in the Morning was very efficient. He made sure he answered all of our questions. The reception at night was great! He gave us suggestions to restaurants and bars. He was very friendly and kind.
Staff are incredibly attentive and helpful. Great stay in Junior Suite, a huge room with really big private balcony overlooking the pool and the plaza. Breakfasts were always a treat. Particularly great service from both Jesus Edoardo & Jesus Miguel! Thanks for a great stay.
great place to stay, very clean. staff was very attentive and helpful. Martin was extremely welcoming and helpful. location is incredible, couldn't be any better. so happy we didn't stay in Boca Grande with it's "plain" hotels.
