We were welcomed with smiles and cold drinks as we entered through the huge wrought iron gates into the atrium of this glorious property. The hotel entry provided a welcoming calm and was simply awesome, literally. The restoration, decor and attention to detail throughout was like walking back in history. The rooms were stunning. Our suite’s sitting room, being an internal room, was a little dark for my liking but they happily provided another floor lamp which made it possible to sit and read in the comfy chairs. The bed and the bathroom huge and simply luxurious. There was a narrow spiral staircase up into the room which I found enchanting but others with any physical disability may find a little challenging. Staff were efficient and nothing was any trouble. They had a free “coffee hour” in the afternoon which I found amusing. It was simply a Nespresso machine and pods which the staff member happily “Nespresso-ed” for you. I thought they probably should have provided a proper brewed coffee machine if they were going to offer this service. Especially in one of the coffee capitals of the world. However, the free little petit four treats provided were delicious! The pool was fabulous, the bar great and food excellent. Yes, it was expensive staying here but we were treated like royalty and felt like it. Great location too. I’d happily recommended it to someone who wants privacy from the outside world in luxurious surroundings.

Arriving just before the beginning of the Corona 19 virus pandemic, we were immediately spellbound by the splendour of the hotel which exceeded expectations: magnificent wrought iron gate, miles of terracotta tiles leading to swaying palms around the L-shaped pool, the high courtyard walls: some white, some old stone, with colonial wooden balconies with carved balustrades. The warm greeting of its magnificent staff was sincere, enthusiastic and heartfelt. We were led to our large room (elevator !!! yes !!!) with 2 giant bedrooms on 2 floors, an enormous living room, 2 terraces and out own pool on one of the terraces. Food-wise we enjoyed the fabulous breakfasts ( eat local people) , delicious nighttime treats and fresh fruit, supper at Alma, complimentary minibar, and so much more. Hotel is super well located and very central to all, but is also a private refreshing oasis behind that stunning front wrought iron gate. As things around the world fast deteriorated, and we returned to the hotel a few days later, the dedication and spirit of the staff became even more apparent in these dire circumstances. Access to the walled old city was closed to non residents, curfews started, country borders were closed, and the hotel was preparing to weather it out. We cannot say enough good things about everyone, but a special giant shout out to the fabulous Paola at the front desk, and the superb Yesid, whose flawless English and superb customer relations (as well as his accounting degree) should hopefully soon earn him a major promotion within the hotel ranks. We also hope the hotel, the city and the country, and the whole world gets over this horrible time soon.

This hotel was a real dream. It is luxurious, great service and you feel pampered at every opportunity. Our room was large with a four poster. All the toiletries were Ortega and lovely. The bathroom covered in marble with a. Great hot shower. The bed was the most comfortable in Columbia and we have been travelling for three weeks. The mini bar was included and there was a turn down service with little biscuits left and tomorrow's weather. There is coffee in the room and outside the room in the library. Downstairs is a lovely bar and restaurant. The bar makes great cocktails at a reasonable price. The breakfast was massive and really excellent. All the staff did everything to make you feel great. There was a lovely small pool and loungers. The hotel is very central.

Wow. Can’t rave enough about this beautiful hotel located in the loveliest part of Cartegena This boutique hotel is steeped in history Actually three grand homes combined and it is full of charm from the staff to the rooms. We checked out the other luxury hotels while we were here and they are much larger and not as intimate . The staff is what really makes this hotel. From the moment we checked in Paula was the friendly face we always saw at the desk. She arranged for us to get an upgraded room with no additional charge with a full patio. Paula also treated us to a bottle of win merely because we had to wait a bit for the upgrade! The room and bathroom were large, with every major convenience but still the charm. Yesid, bell Captain and problem solver extraordinaire was so helpful and assisted us with any request no matter how small. The food and service in the restaurant was also superb. Can’t wait to come back!
