Right, not many hotels offer a balcony unless you go above 300 usd a night. This one does. Good points include the city view if you bribe the front desk. NB dont go through Booking.com or Amex Travel at 85 usd a night, go direct to the hotel on Wattsapp. 'Manyana'means you'll get a reply within 48hours....55 dollars a night!!
The city view is fab, reminds of those posters you can get with time lapse photography. Its fabulous. However unlike top hotels the balcony glass is two way, you are as much on view as city is to you. Also its low, I would not let a 12 year old on it alone or a drunken sailor i.e.me.Thats where my praise ends, the novelty will soon ware off as your hotel with inadequate double glazing or sound proofing will capture every; lorry horn, music bus, drunken shouts, car beeps and colombian music from late night restaurants with ease and symphonic accuracy. We had the top floor, must be sheer hell for lower floors.
There is a great Queen size bed but the doors and furniture remind me of mental facility. No bedside lamps, no switch to turn off one of two main lights, the lower light setting has the same brightness as a dental surgery. ...Why bother with the two I ask. The shower has no shelf to support toiletries. The breakfast is not 4 star, I know what a 4 star buffet is. Here you are rationed, its dished out! That is not a buffet! Breakfast all stodge, no meat as its expensive; cerial, bread, eggs, fruit but no chorisio, ham or any meat of any kind. Its cheap. Lastly it has a casino attached, why not a drug dealer, bottle shop or knocking shop to boot. Its got big rooms, cleaners excellent but how in hell it got 4 stars is beyond me. Its a 3 star, firmly in there.

Great hotel, great city. The resteraunts and food are fantastic. Old Town is a very special place. The weather is perfect not too hot. The people are friendly and hard working. There is not much to dislike about Cartagena Columbia. When locals try and sell you something cut the price in half. This place has everything a modern city in North America has. Very safe environment.

Reception they can speak English but they they are not fully fluid. Location is safe, a good point to depart for tourists and also can find a family environment even though that there's a casino downstairs. They also have snore free zones. All amenities worked perfectly while I stayed.

If you have a guest, unless they have a passport they can not come to your room. A Colombian national ID is not good enough. Probably a security thing but this will definitely sour your experience if you're a solo traveler.

The staff is very nice and the location is great but that's about it. The bed is very hard, it's difficult to get hot water in the shower, breakfast is rather bland. The rooms had a musty smell even after being cleaned. Not bad for the price you pay but this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. More like a 2/3.

The place is clean and they keep it in good shape. The service is terrible, they don’t know what hotel service is. Complete lack of customer service. Also on some sides of the hotel there are some clubs and the music will not let you sleep. I would not recomen it.

this hotel was very cheesy and had bad quality rooms. The staff was nice though but when we checked out the receptionist didn't ask for the room number and just gave a large bill for the wrong room. It's a good thing we checked it because she made the mistake. I wasn't so impressed with Bocagrande or the hotel. Stay in the walled city or getsemani instead. I would not ever stay here again.

I've stayed in Atlantic Lux Hotel at Cartagena and enjoyed it all: From the kindness of the attendants (they really try to help you in whatever you need) to the next door Casino (which is not like the US ones of course but is really enjoyable). Despite room's simplicity, it was comfortable enough for relaxing in this beautiful city.

The location is great. Walking distance to the beach, to nice shops and restaurants. Clean and modern rooms. Breakfast is great, with variety of fruits, yogurths, bread, cheese.
The only problem we had, was that the first two days, we did not have hot water in the bathroom. This was not a big problem cause it was hot, but the following days we had hot water, which was nicer.
The street is a little bit noisy, but it stops at night so it does not bother a lot.

Yes with instructions in English
Yes, in most bookings a huge breakfast buffet is included. The buffet is excellent.
Take a taxi from the airport. Very inexpensive.
