The HusBenn and I were in Cartegena for a 50th birthday celebration with friends. For the first few days, we stayed in the Airbnb with everyone which was a great. Our Airbnb was smack dab in the middle of Getsemani area so we had everything in walking distance. Then for our last night, we had to book a hotel and soooooooo glad we did! The Hilton gave us everything we needed. From the ocean view room, to the hospitality to the food, the Hilton was the icing on top to a great trip. Sooooo glad our last day and night was spent here. So romantic and again, exactly what we needed to end a greaaaaaaat trip!

The Hilton in Cartagena is a nice hotel, clearly a bit older now but still in great shape. It is important to notice it is located in Laguito not in Boca Grande as this implies that is further from the old city (10,000 pesos cab ride each way) but it also means it has a nicer private(ish) beach to relax on.
The Good things: The hotel keeps a Hilton standard the lobby was super clean, big and ncie, you count with 3 pools, 5 hot tubs and beach access so it is very nice and relaxing. The rooms are alright they have everything you need, but keep in mind as the hotel is a bit older it is not soundproof so if you`re in the bad luck of say having a baby next door as was our case chances are you´ll be kept up at night. Service is really the highlight of this place, everyone is incredibly kind and accomodating.
The bad: - As a foreigner in Colombia I know that by law I am not to pay VAT in hotels. The Hilton not only conveniently forgets to mention this extra charge unless you bring it up but insists it needs to be paid unless you buy the breakfast package that they try to sell you on early on. I felt taken advantage of for this, and I felt that if I hadn´t read the other reviews mentioning this and spoke spanish I would´ve been charged unfairly for this. Unfortunately this first impression left a very bitter sweet flavor on the rest of the stay. Having said that the service and attention on the front desk were outstanding. - Being a Hilton Honors did not really seem to matter other than during the reservation online. It would be good in the future to have a clarification of what currency is being used.

This property never disappoints, it amazing how quick employees adapt to comply with new protocols. The room was spotless, all areas at the hotel were exceptionally clean and personnel are always ready to assist on any request. Breakfast still included, but it is not self-service. Menu is posted on a banner or one can access to it through a QR code and read it on your mobile device. Food quality still satisfies your heart's content, particularly I love the small "Arepa 'e huevo" version at Brkf. The pool area had a facelift, making it more inviting and the tequila spiked coconut lemonade still my favorite. Unfortunately, the executive lounge was not on service because of social distancing compliance. I have great memories in it and I miss the view from it.

This hotel is not just one of the best but THE BEST hilton hotel of all that I have experienced throughout the world in terms of everything from Reservations Convenience, Security, Level of Cleaning, and Trustworthiness of the Housekeeping, Quality and Options for Food and Beverages, Honoring the Hilton Honors Benefits, Honoring and Respecting the Hilton Team Member Benefits, Level and Attention of the Security 24/7, Considering Additional Precautions due to COVID situation. Every single thing I always experience at this hotel is just over exceptional. I would leave the room as if it was my home without worrying about any personal items in my room. It's amazing to stay here stressfree and with confidence in every single person working here, starting at the main door, the reception, at the restaurant, at the beach bar, at the gym, everyone just exceeded the expectations, above and beyond. Reading other reviews I was very surprised to read negative comments of the breakfast buffet. I ate there yesterday and thought it was very good, plenty of options clean, women making fruit smoothies for you, you can sit out by pool or in dinning room. I totally disagree. Breakfast buffet was very good Had executive room on 9th floor beautiful view, room was well stocked with amenities. Service in this hotel is excellent I called to front desk asking if they had a luggage scale, they sent someone up to collect my bags weight them and bring them back, the executive lounge was small and not well stocked, but there was a bartender and a receptionist that were very nice. All and all very good stay, when my travels bring me back to Cartagena I will be using this hotel.

We had checked out of a terrible hotel and made last minute reservations at this Hilton property. Thank goodness that we did. This property recently had a renovation of their pool area, it has three large pools, 5 hot tubs, a children's pool and a slide. The hotel is decorate with warm inviting Latin themes, colors.The public areas were modern, spacious and clean. Our room had the Hilton signature bedding and amenities. A welcoming pleasure after our last horrible experience at another hotel. The hotel is located on the tail end secluded part of Boca grande and it has its own semi private beach area. This was ideal for us because it is a beach front property away from the noisy crowds of Boca grande. It was conveniently accessible to all attractions and activities within a taxi ride away. Taxi rides were only 8,000 pesos less than $3 USD each way for a four people. It was 10,000 pesos to the Walled City / Old town. We had massages in the spa which was extremely relaxing and reasonable priced. My only recommendation for the spa is to offer guest robes and slipper to change into. The staff especially Monica at the front desk was super friendly/ helpful and staff spoke English. Food and drinks at the swim up bar and the sunset bar were spot on. Plenty of lounge chairs, no need to come down early to reserve seating The beach had lounge chairs and canopied day beds. We enjoyed our stay in Hilton Cartagena it made our experience a memorable one & will definitely return to Cartagena

I stayed at the Hilton Cartagena May 18th 21st before heading to the Rosario Islands for a few days. Tourism was at low due to the civil protest in the country but I had a very comfortable stay.
The property: The property is an older design but was upgraded and is maintained fairly well. The lobby area and the outdoor spaces are well maintained and clean. However, I did notice a few areas that could use a little more love: ice maker was broken on my floor, hot tubs were broken and scuff marks on the walls in the hallway. The hotel is located at the end of Boca Grande but makes up for the distance by providing conveniences such as currency exchange at a fair rate, shops, restaurants and taxis on site. A taxi to old city is about 10,000COP and if your a walker the BocaGrande mall was a scenic 30-40minute minute walk.
Accommodations: I stayed in room 463 a king bed corner room with ocean and city view. Great size for 2-3 people with walk-in closet, large stand up shower, large desk and sitting space. The balcony is large with space to walk around plus two lounge chairs and table with two chairs. The view is of Castillo Grande buildings on the left and the ocean, resort on the right and the tennis courts below. The room felt very private and insulated from noise. The bed was comfortable and the Hilton cleaning protocols were followed and properly documented.
The food: Enjoyed room service for breakfast and had a late evening dinner at the lobby bar. (The lobby bar menu is a bit limited.)
The staff: great staff friendly and most importantly responsive when items were needed. Rafael at the front desk was incredibly helpful!
The negative: the only negative was the gym. It was incredibly small and limited for a hotel of this size.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful, especially Andres at the front desk who helped us organize our four day trip with activities and English speaking drivers. The hotel is very nice with several pools and hot tubs. For those with kids, I would definitely recommend this place as our kids had a wonderful time in the pool, especially the water slide.
The hotel did a phenomenal job with Covid. You rarely saw anyone without a mask, even outdoors. Social distant markers were everywhere and we always were a far distant from anyone while dining.
The breakfast was wonderful as was dinner. Service was impeccable. We tried a variety of Colombian food and the entire staff was wonderful. The room was nice with an ocean view room. We loved how they had multiple elevators and we never had to wait more than a few seconds.
Nearby, there are convenient stores to buy water, snacks and even an ATM machine.
The downside is that the hotel needs a serious power wash. The exterior is full of dirt and a simple pressure washing could make this hotel look a lot better. It is an older Hilton hotel. The beach is not really nice. Also, the room only cools down to a certain degree. Often times, the room got a bit warm, but we couldn't adjust the temperature to make it colder. Also, the three hot tubs only get to about 80 degrees.....far from being hot.
For the price paid, we felt we got a great deal with exceptional service. I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you're wanting to stay on the beach and have kids.

We were travelling Colombia for three weeks and wanted to treat ourselves to some type of luxury for four nights in Cartagena and I regret choosing the Hilton. It was fine, in that it offered everything it said in the listing, but compared to other places we have stayed, it was our least favourite during the three weeks. The place was very over crowded and If you did not go down to the pool early, you were not going to get any sun lounger. The food was not good at all, and because the hotel is so far away from all of the food restaurants, you are forced to eat there for breakfast and lunch, unless you want to walk an hour into the walled city and back. The buffet is expensive, but If you try to order anything else, it’s difficult and the portions are so small. The lunch and dinner options are the same in the pool bar, and weren’t great. The other snack bar served some different things at lunch but we didn’t like that food either. The pools are great and big but they get dirty as the day goes on, and with so many kids, it becomes a little chaotic. Also, the beach is not private, you walk on the beach for five minutes and you are hassled left right and center! It’s a shame that you can’t enjoy a walk on the beach without being approached ten times. The rooms are fabulous, and the gym facilities are great. We also used the spa which was also good. Overall, I would look to stay somewhere in the walled city or nearer it, because the hotel is so far away and doesn’t offer good food.

They will arrange for someone to come and administer your test the day before you travel and you'll have your results later that day. It's roughly $50 US but a little lass if you pay in pesos. Let the front desk know when you arrive so the arrangements can be made in advance, make sure it's within the allotted time frame required
You would have to prepare that on your own possibly with the hotel. However when you first arrive at the airport before you exit there is money exchange . Make sure you go to the free one on your right . Then you can take a cab that’s the most efficient way for cinco($10) American dollars usually gets you around Cartagena
