First, the good things. The bed is comfortable, the food is good, and the staff are friendly. But I would never, ever come back. I paid for a king parlour room, the most expensive one they have, and got a shabby room on the third floor (the lowest), with the flood lights from the tennis court shining into my room, the the purple flood lights that adorn the hotel shining into my room, and music blasting in from the tiki bar next door, not the mention the din from the pool. The room is misconceived - it consists of a very small regular room, and other similarly sized room that is sparsely and poorly furnished, windows with big gaps that let hot air and bugs in, and a door that doesn't look so that someone could enter the balcony available to all smokers on the floor and enter my room. When I first entered the room, there were dead bugs on the floor, and the previous guest's old soap in the shower. Ick!! This room should not be rented out, period, and certainly not for top dollar. I complained to management that I had reserved the room three months ago and and here for a week on business, but no dice. The hotel is meant for families, but it feels like a crowded day at Disneyland on an oppressively hot day. The hotel is on a small, dumpy beach. You can't walk from this beach to others, due to environmental destruction, and instead have to walk on the sidewalk for about a kilometre to get the main beach. This is not what I would expect from the Hilton, and especially not for the top dollar I'm paying. Try the Hyatt or the Intercontinental on Bocagrande, or the Sofitel Santa Clara in the old city.

Hotel's Favorite
Hilton always does it right. Being such a massive hotel chain on a global level they know what a good hotel needs to make their guests feel welcome and happy! Beautiful pool complex with 3 large pools of varying deepness. The best part is there are a LOT of pool lounge chairs and each pool has its own separation so it feels more private no matter which pool you’re at. The beach is nice with free chairs, umbrellas, and security. As a Hilton Diamond we got free breakfast (Golds too) each day which costs $11/person. They served us so well each day and the food was always fresh. We had a couple meals in the restaurant and they have a good selection/variety and similar prices to nice restaurants in town. Room service is reasonable and fast as well. Of course you’ll do much better buying things like bottled water/drinks off site but overall I felt it was reasonable and certainly way cheaper than a resort in the states. The executive lounge is still closed as of Aug 2021 due to the pandemic, but they will send drinks and snacks to your room if you qualify (executive room or Diamond status) for free each night. I thought that was a nice option considering the lounge was closed. As Diamond members they upgraded us to a beautiful corner suite! The “queen” bed is more or a full but it’s was worth it to have the epic living room with floor to ceiling windows and the huge porch overlooking the ocean and beach! I highly recommend the suites! Business center to print your stuff. More than enough staff to do what you need. The spa was great! 90 min massage for about $60 USD. Massages include sauna/Turkish bath and a hot tea. I really enjoyed it!! There’s a salon, money exchange, gift stores, jeweler, kids game room (included) and a large gym (included) onsite as well. Being that they host events and conventions they have an events team on-site that can do anything you wish! They coordinated a beautiful anniversary dinner for my wife and I in our suite with waiter service, decorations, flowers, and more! It was perfect and my wife and I loved it! 15 min taxi (8,000 pesos or $2) to the old city. Thank you Hilton for making our anniversary so great!

My wife and I (we are both Hilton Diamond) recently stayed at the Cartagena Hilton property for 4 nights and we loved every minute of it. This is well-maintained Hilton with beachfront access. It's also a great option if you don't want to stay in the Old City (we were able to get a quick Uber to the Old Town), and the the team does everything to make sure their guests are cared for. We were upgraded to a corner room with ocean/city views, and we made use of the private terrace in the evenings - the breakfast at the Chivas Restaurant is also highly recommended. Gustavo at the Chivas restaurant made sure we were taken care of as well as Milton at the pool bar! We enjoyed every day of this trip and we will sure be back. Sidenote - we are glad we stayed in a property outside of the Old Town because the Old Town gets a little chaotic at times at night - the Hilton Cartagena is a great choice if you want to be a quieter area by the beach.

Friendly staff, centrally located, within walking distance to food and activities. Taxi’s are reasonable. Felt safe walking around. Excursions were inexpensive with the hotel, but some were booked using Viator. Mud Volcano is a must do. Looking forward to returning.

Great location. Beautiful hotel! Staff went out of their way to be helpful. The grounds were impeccable. Everything was sooo clean. The beds were so comfortable, felt like sleeping on clouds. Frigobar was well stocked with local favorites, and didn't cost a lot of money. Restaurant was great. Breakfast buffet 😋 had many selections and was well worth the price. Will definitely go back.

Stayed six days at the Hilton in Cartagena. The only good things about the Cartagena Hilton is comfortable rooms - for a price (in the 250 USD a day range). Breakfast, charged at about USD 13 a person, is downright terrible - never stayed in a hotel that offered such a poor breakfast experience. Arepa, roasted potatoes, corn fritters, hard-boiled eggs and scrambled eggs that don't taste good. Only 3 choices of fruit - pineapple, papaya and watermelon is ALL the fruit you can get here - and Colombia exports bananas to the world. Turkey ham, ham ham and eggs is about all the protein you can get. Fortunately, there's a small coffee shop not far from the hotel. The hotel has a beach, but it's very hard to enjoy it: there are lots of noisy sea scooters that pollute the air and zig-zag between the people in the water. On the beach, you're constantly approached by hawkers eager to sell you massages, beads, cigars, hats, dresses, food, plastic covers for your phone, T-shirts, dominoes, marijuana - so if you're coming here for a relaxing beach vacation you're out of luck - it's Holà Amigo every 30 seconds. Maybe I didn't try hard enough, but couldn't get anything in English on the TV.

We loved Carthagena. The stay at the Hilton was lovely with a few minor opportunities for improvement. The hotel is located a bit far from the walled city but it has access to the beach. The water is calm and the sand is very fine and easy to walk on. The service everywhere in the hotel is great including Andres at the front desk, Edwin in the restaurant and Germano, Luis and Orlando at the pool bar. They were always there to take care of any asks from the customer, be it to have pesto sauce instead of marinara or customizing omelette at an instant’s notice or getting lounge chairs when all of them were occupied. Be sure to include breakfast in your package. It has an omelet station and a wide choice. Dinner menu is reasonable and good. Our rooms had a nice view from the fourth floor ( as a diamond I expected a higher floor), the bathroom is dated but the shower had good water pressure and the executive lounge was a disappointment, the red wine that they served was undrinkable, though the view from the 10th floor was glorious . Taxis were very reasonable and we needed to take them to go the walled city where all the action was. All in all, a lovely stay and I will come back to the Hilton when we return to Carthagena.
