Casa marta is a quaint, clean little home about 10 minutes (walk) from the walled city. The people are friendly, although only one speaks any english and she is very often not around. The air conditioning and internet worked. Nevertheless, we wouldn't go back there for the following reasons: 1. it was way overpriced compared to other places with a/c, internet, and equally great locations 2. on our final day, we had told the hosts (including the one who spoke english) that we would be leaving at around 2:30-3pm. When we tried to check out, no one was around to speak english. after 10 minutes of trying to explain that we wanted to pay (and that we didn't have tons of time), the non-english speaking women got out a computer and, using google translate, told us that they'd already…
Perfect for couples and those after a more genuine experience. Marta is absolutely divine - one of the nicest, warmest, funniest person you're likely to meet. She genuinely cares and helps those who stay. My girlfriend and i were welcomed into her family with open arms. It was simple, rustic, easy and central to the more lively parts of town. Whilst Marta could not speak English, she's pretty mean on the old Google translate so communication shouldn't be an issue. It's completely safe and well maintained. Highly recommended when in Cartagena.
I absolutely loved staying here with my mom. Both of us loved this wonderful bed & breakfast. It was quaint and made me feel right at home. Being in the presence of Marta reminded me of living with my Colombian abuela. Since there aren't many rooms, customer service is top-class (almost like having private service!). She and her staff were amazingly hospitable. They even made us a to-go breakfast when we left early one morning to go to the beach. Since my phone broke before arriving, Marta let me use her tablet. She even let me keep it in our room when we left and would return later at night. It was a really nice gesture. The room was really comfortable. I thought it was really clean and the bathroom as well. I also really liked the beds. They were comfortable with…
Casa Marta was great! It is a nice little house with just two rooms which makes you feel very comfortable. Our friends were staying next door so we basically had the place to ourselves. The rooms are very well equipped (AC/TV/fridge/closet...) and Marta is very attentive to anything you need. Whether you need directions, help booking a car or are feeling ill from heat exhaustion (my case) she will do her best to help and make you feel better. The neighborhood, Getsemani, is fun, safe and centrally located, but less touristy than the Centro neighborhood. There is great nightlife at Plaza Trinidad, good local restaurants and it is all a short walk from Centro and the docks. I will definitely stay at Casa Marta next time I'm in Cartagena.
We booked both rooms at Casa Marta with a group of friends and we had a great time. The Rooms fit 3 people comfortably and it was nice to have hot water after several weeks in Colombia. Marta was helpful by giving us a map and an overview of the city when we arrived. She also put us in touch with a woman who took us to playa Blanca although the car was really cramped for 5, she was 45 mins late and the A/C did not work. Casa Marta is right next to Plaza Trinidad which was always packed with people every night, street vendors and outdoor cafés. One of our favorite hang out spots in cartagena. Casa marta is very quiet and you can't hear the noise on the square. Some of my friends got sunburned and she helped them by giving them an aloe cream. The woman that works there also…
