Big surprise. Excellent location. The best thing is the staff. always ready to help and good humor. It is a hotel that is being remodeled. The first room they gave me was good, but then they told me that they were remodeling and they changed me to a super nice room with a view of the central town and the sea in the background. The breakfast is worth it. It's GOOD. I hope to return to Cartagena and repeat

Whoever is looking for an economic experience, as was my case, at the time... last minute trip with high values, meets well.
The hotel is simple, nice service, old structure and relatively close to the walled city, which is where effectively "everything happens".
Even if I was looking for an economic experience, I say I was frustrated with the breakfast, because as the food is a little different from what we are used to, there are some things we like more or less... and all things (except drinks) were portioned. Not that I could not ask to add more to my dish what I prefer, but it gives a certain discomfort... But apart from that, I think it was a super ok economic line.
I would say it's superior to a hostel, but it doesn't fit the standard of Ibis, but it meets!
It's not a dirty place, has breakfast, locality ok.

The hotel is well located. It is close to tourist centers, but the bathrooms and elevator need to be maintained. In the five days that I stayed at the hotel, two of them, the elevator needed maintenance. The bathroom is small and needs maintenance to make it better.

Structure dating back to the 70s, never renovated and in a poor state of maintenance, the only positive flaw is its location a few hundred meters from the clock.
Obscene rooms with broken or dirty glass, peeling walls. Public bathrooms are better, only cold water.
Breakfast served as a buffet in a restaurant with old and unwelcoming furniture.
The friendly staff changed our rooms as requested.
Stay from 15th to 19th February

Couldn’t complain about anything. Staff were friendly, room was clean and had air conditioning, and there were no bed bugs to keep me up at night.

They even had a firework display outside the room at the end of the night

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in my life. Mine were low, but look, this hotel surpassed all aspects because it is so bad.
May the hotel owner fight and reform this.
It looks like a mess.
Ugly rooms, hard beds, even worse pillows, horrible bathroom, torn curtains, window panes that have never seen cleaning in their lives.
I think it can be simple, but it has to be well looked after, carefully, starting with the reception which didn't even have air conditioning, you arrive and the first impression is already terrible. After you get the keys and see the room, that's when the trap comes.
I do not recommend .

That happens when you are cheap at the wrong place LOL.
Nightmare of a hotel ...okay for 35 us you can't expect anything and that is what you get ....nothing :)
I will try to be neutral:
3 stars? Where? In Ghana?
This is not even 2 star! I will leave 2 because the staff was very nice, the ac worked and the breakfast was acceptable.
The room itself is 1 star.
Mattress hard as a rock. The floor actually is softer. Backproblems? Stay far away !!!
3 elevators, at least 2 of them never working.
The rooms are spacious and mine 903 had a fantastic view!
No warm water, no cups, no shampoo !!!!! Really annoying.
So shower cold !
No joke !!!
Housekeeping does a good job, but starts at 6.50.
The place has potential but needs renovation.
The closet door came off ...lollll
Like a slapstick movie the whole place.
No soundproofing at all....
Dirty walls, clean sheets.(housekeeping is doing well)
Aircondition was new and cooled well.
Wifi was fast, when it was working, every 3 hs or so.
Terrible sterile energy saving bulbs. You could light a runway with one :)
Morgue Appeal :)
Fridge was big and handy.
Reception staff was very helpful and nice.
Breakfast was good for the price. Eggs, sausages, rolls, fresh cheese, fresh juice, some watermelon,papaya...okay
Very central position.practical.just walk across the street and you are in the old city.
A good option when on a budget but only then.
I will come back to this lovely city but to a better hotel .

I was a little concerned after reading some reviews but I have to say that I loved my stay here. I paid $27 usd a night (April 2015 Wednesday - Friday). That price was only 9 dollars more than some hostels, and I had my own room and shower.

I took others' advice and asked for a room in one of the higher floors and the guy at the check in just smiled and said sure, as if he's heard that request numerous times. I was on the tenth floor (odd painting of a man flipping you the bird right when you get off the elevator..) and the street noise didn't bother me at all. The air conditioner drowned out the sound just fine.

Breakfast was top notch. Better than any "breakfast included" meals I've had in the U.S. Both mornings were slightly different in selection. There's three warm dishes and lots of fruit, bread, meat and cheese. Three options for drinks and coffee.

Every employee was so nice too

The area around the hotel at first might seem kind of intimidating or sketchy but after or day I felt just fine. To get to the old city, turn right when leaving the hotel and take an immediate right and then cross the major street and head into the small narrow street/alley or turn left after crossing the street and just follow the sidewalk a quarter mile or so and you'll run into it.

I don't know what kind of experiences others had here but mine was perfect. Would stay here again.

I went to cartagena and sleep there just one night (planned to stay 4). One cleaner staff stole my money the day after when I made my first round. The receptionist called the police but was useless...If you go there keep your money in the locker which is in the reception and good luck......

The hotel called the police and they interrogated the maid and also she was searched. They couldn't find anything so they decided she was inocent. We felt sorry but the hotel couldn't do anything else about it.
