In May of this year I stayed at Casa Villa Colonial I was at this hotel for 4 nights. I stayed in Room 1 which is on the 1st floor, adjacent from the reception desk at the front. As I got settled, I noticed the room smelled like exhaust fumes. I believe the fumes from the very busy street traffic permeate the hotel. The hotel is just steps away from Calle de La Media Luna. I let one of the hotel managers know the room smelled like fumes and he apologized, saying he had no more room availability and he'd move me to a different room the next day. He was very nice about it, and he did not seem surprised by a complaint about the smell. I did get to move to a different room. It was 2nd floor and a little farther to the back of the hotel but not by much. Sadly, the room still smelled like exhaust fumes, but not as bad as Room 1.

The whole staff was just lovely and helpful, except for a person named Andres. In order to enter the hotel, you have to be buzzed in. There are glass doors at the entrance and I could see that there was no one at reception. I pressed the buzzer once, but did not hear it go off, so I buzzed once more. Andres appeared, running toward reception waving his arms and looking angry. He let me in and proceeded to yell at me for buzzing more than once. Very unpleasant person! At another time, as I approached reception I saw Andres looking out a window, taking photos of women walking down the street. That was creepy. I didn't feel entirely safe with him in charge of reception at night.

We stayed here with our g adventure tour outside of the walled city but lots of restaurants nearby and less expensive than in the walled city. The roof top pool and deck were very nice and good views of the fort from there. Staff very helpful.

Stayed with a tour.

Overall low to average hotel.

lobby / rooftop and size of rooms was 3 stars, but quality of rooms was 2. It’s more like a motel.

Room was good size but the sheets were dirty.

given the open air courtyard + the rooms all face the courtyard it is very noisy – tons of street noise, able to hear music from nearby restaurants / bars and in the morning/evening you can hear voices from people talking in the courtyard.

When the electricity was working (general problem in Cartegena) the AC was strong.

Well located in the wall city with a 10 minute walk to the main strip of bars/restaurants and the park.

Best feature was the roof

Pleasant hotel in an excellent location. Adequate facilities with a small pool. Travelled with G Adventure and unfortunately they hadn’t provided the hotel with the correct details which made for a very awkward situation. Breakfast was simple but nice

I stayed here for 9 nights recently. I was a bit concerned as a single female staying here due to some comments on immediate surrounds. Indeed it is not perfect but there were always enough people around to feel safe at night. Busy area during the daytime. My room was at the front and there was building work ongoing in building opposite. Luckily I had my sound proof earplugs with me. Bring them -You will need them. The room was a decent size and I felt good value for money. I found air conditioning cold at night and with one sheet, I had to resort to also getting into my silk sleeping bag! But you will need a room with air conditioning for sure. There is no safe available but there is front door security and I was assured it was safe to leave everything in my room. And it was. It is a 10 min walk to historic centre of town. There are some good restaurants in the area that offer good value for money. I would recommend going out for breakfast. Overall, I would stay here again.

I booked the hostel online and at that same time I had to pay for the room. When I arrived they did not have my reservation, had no room and so far until today I haven't received my paid money back!! The staff was not helpful with looking for another hostel either.

Before booking this hotel I wasn't sure how safe and good is to stay in Getsemani, the area just outside historic centre walls. Now I can say without any doubts that the next time I would definitely stay there and only there.

Staff is very very friendly and helpful even if they speak only spanish. I booked 2 rooms, however one room we had to cancel on the day of arrival and the staff was ok to do so without charging us for the first night. Very impressed with the flexibility we received.

Rooms are clean and very big but basic.

There is no restaurant, however the street offer very wide range of restaurants. In general, there are plenty of hidden places which serve excellent food, so it is worse to look around in this area.

No complains about the sleeping quality even if there is a trendy night club next doors.

No safety issues.

Overall, I really enjoyed our stay (four nights) at this hotel and I would stay there again.

We had an ok stay here, our room did not have a balcony so no natural light comes in...whicheant you never knew what time of day it was! Borrowed hair dryer from reception, never seen the wire was taped so when using it the wire blew off and there were sparks everywhere, not so much as an apology from reception..when I gave it back thy just kept examine it!!!! Female staff really helpful, male staff did not seem to speak Spanish or English! Location is nice as are common areas...kitchen is tiny and not well equipped! Ok if u wanna eat cereal..don't plan on cooking!

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are not looking for a 5 stars hotel...It s very close to the old city and not far from Bocagrande (Big Mouth) area contains the bulk of the city's tourist facilities, such as hotels, shops, restaurants, nightclubs and art galleries...

Its clean but the staff have no idea about the tours around the city. If you want to go to Islas del Rosario or Playa Blanca please buy your tickets directly in the Muelle la Bodeguita. And if you have chance to stay at one hotel or hostel inside La ciudad amurallada its much better.
