This is a tourist area—near colonial buildings as well as many restaurants. The hotel is close to a small grocery store in the Éxito chain (their contemporary shopping bags are cheap yet authentic souvenirs); a drugstore; and bookstores with maps and postcards. It’s more of a walk to Las Bóvedas, where souvenirs range from traditional tote bags all the way to Pablo Escobar tee shirts. Men were often wearing shorts—it was hot. Streets are narrow and traffic can be snarled; allow extra time. The hotel lacks an elevator, and one must climb 25 steps to the lobby. However, staff were very eager to help with luggage. The room was clean. I had a flat screen tv and remote. The lobby has computers and a printer. The bathroom seemed tiny. Running water was tepid (no choice of hot or cold). Towels were thin, and there was no face cloth. There was soap but no shampoo. There was no telephone in the room, but I had good cell phone reception. Wi-fi seemed slow at times. A grounded electrical outlet was near the bed. The light switch was not close to either the door or the bed. The air conditioning worked well. However, it was important to close the bathroom door since the bathroom had a roof vent. I did not have a window with an exterior view. This did have an advantage in that there was no problem with street noise. There was no deadbolt lock. There was a metal lock box in which I could place my valuables. I used one of my luggage locks to lock the box. There was no electronic safe.…
Be mindful about the fact that right on New Year’s Eve me and my family went to this hotel that we had booked 3 months prior and realised that they had given the room to someone else. They said: “sorry we can’t do anything”. DO NOT STAY THERE.
First of all, just realize this is not a luxury hotel. 😊 If you are looking for a safe and clean hotel/hostel with a wonderful location and wanting to stay on a budget, this is the perfect place! I really loved staying here. You will probably read from other reviews that there is no warm water and it’s a little noisy, but none of this bothered me. The water is not freezing and it actually felt awesome with how hot Cartagena is... To give an example of the water, it’s kinda like jumping in the pool without feeling it. Just do it. As for the noice, I’m a pretty hard sleeper... I heard a little noise but it wasn’t an issue for me. The staff mostly just speaks Spanish so download the Google Translate app if you don’t speak Spanish. I just know the basics and this app was so helpful. Everyone was so sweet and there was a very sweet lady there throughout my stay. Her name is Margoth Medina - she is lovely and speaks English very well. Hope you choose to stay here - it’s not perfect, but then it is kinda perfect because of the location & price. Enjoy!…
For budget minded travelers it is ok.You will have to carry your suitcases up some pretty long staircases. The staff are very friendly as long as you speak spanish. If you are a light sleeper and don't like waking up earlier this place is not for you. Also it only has cold water in the showers. There is an place where the staff and travelers eat.The problem with this is about 6.27 a.m. you can her staff moving their plastic plates around. Then a little later you will hear the washing machine and drying going. It is either Friday night or Saturday night you will hear a live band playing.Otherwise the rooms are clean and has t.v. This is only in Spanish. The location is fine within the walled city.It is the first bathroom I ever seen while seating on the toilet you can brush your teeth at the same time.…
This hotel is right in the heart of Cartagenas walled city, you can walk it anywhere, staff where very welcoming and the room was clean and prepare, unfortunately the toilets and bathroom are all in one not a problem for me because it was clean. I will stay here again, it wasn’t noisy at all at night.
