i am a hilton honors Diamond level so i know what to expect from Hilton. this was a huge letdown. i am writing this review at 3/30 am while a mechanic attempts to repair a few of the many issues for the 4th time. i am ready to check out as the place has so many issues. from the less than normal quality standards of the maintenance to the overwhelming smell of paint or paint materials in the room (from the renovations in the next building? ). worse outlets in my room so not work. and at 3:00 am in the morning i am waiting for maintence once again to come and fix the A/c. this is just a huge disappointment. I have been waiting to stay at this hotel and honestly. i can not even confidently say i want to finish my stay. seriously considering checking out now at 3:00 am. a full refund could not make up for such a disappointing stay. and at double the cost of the other hilton properties in the area - not good!! fortunately the staff is friendly and fairly quick to respond to the issues. but it’s too late to solve this trip i suggest you choose one of the many many cheaper boutiques. i have staid in several just down the same street and much better…
Nacar Curio by Hilton, incredible property located in the walled city, excellent location very central near the San Diego square, close to restaurants and places of interest. The hotel is incredible, very comfortable, spacious rooms with all their amenities, their excellent quality bath products, super comfortable bed for rest. the terrace is incredible, the pool is very good and the restaurant service with good products. Very good breakfast great variety of dishes and natural juices, without a doubt, quality and price ratio are worth staying at the hotel, it will be a priority to travel to Cartagena, its very attentive and helpful reception staff willing to help, in general very helpful.
Location was perfect, staff was great, and rooms were nice. We also stayed at the Marriott right outside the walled city and this was a much nicer hotel. I do wish there was a gym as it is too hot and humid to run outside.
- nearly impossible to get ahold of them. Unresponsive via email - rooms are nice but the condensation causes dripping brown liquid to fall all over bathroom and desk area. It’s disgusting. - spa was not good quality. We covered each up with tattered towels. I’ve had fancier setups at 30 dollar massage places - no Hilton gold perks. I was told I’d get breakfast and when I arrived I was told that that wasn’t the case since I didn’t book through their site. - wedding that lasted until 12am with cleanup and noise until 1:30-2am. Wish we would’ve been told this. We were exhausted and couldn’t sleep. Overall, expected more from Hilton. Zero perks for being gold. I would go with a nice smaller boutique hotel instead.
Not knowing what to expect of the city or the hotel we were impressed by both. The staff were polite and happy. Hard not to start the day in great spirits with the rooftop breakfasts. The room had its quirks. We had a mystery puddle that came from under the credenza where the TV was mounted overnight and not seeing it or expecting it I went skating and was lucky not to fall on the tile floor. Also the bathroom is designed such that the sinks are open to the room, the toilet is in a closet on one side with a pocket door and the shower is on the other side without a door. As a result anyone in the room can see someone taking a shower. Not a negative unless you have children with you. We enjoyed the complementary spa treatment. T We really enjoyed the hotel and experience.
Very nice atmosphere, perfect location. It’s a small hotel with a small pool, typical for the walled city. There is a bar/restaurant on the rooftop mainly serving who is at the pool. Good quality breakfast and excellent housekeeping - room was very clean and had a Nespresso coffee machine. They let us in earlier than the checkin time and gave us a welcome drink as well. They also gave us a hand written welcome letter with some snacks and the housekeeping went by the room later in the day as well to check if all was ok or if we needed anything else. Staff is very attentive to client needs. There is a room type that features a private pool - we were told at front desk that it’s located at a different address, but the room shows at the same address on the listing at the Hilton App.
From the welcoming email sent by the front desk supervisor to check out, the NACAR CURIO property in Cartagena exceeds expectations. First, the staff is incredible:friendly, competent, and customer oriented. All requests and questions are answered by the staff in a professional manner. The property’s location is excellent with easy access to all of the amenities and activities in the walled city. Furthermore, on property the restaurant Fresco is very good for breakfast with a great selection of breakfast foods. The bar in the fresco is fun to grab a beer as well. Our room was impeccably clean and had a wonderful walk-in shower. The cleanliness of the hotel cannot be over emphasized. This is a very very clean property. The rooftop pool provides a nice respite from the activities of the beautiful walled city. The staff including front desk housekeeping and restaurant were outstanding. We were in town for a family wedding and the location was great to all the venues associated with a wedding activities. The front desk is very helpful to book any excursions.…
Beautiful hotel very close to many walkable sites Transportation was a bit unsatisfactory due to lack of English communication ( Uber was better, cheaper) Hotel service and accommodations were excellent Copy of bill was not in English -
Very clean and attractive faculty. Centrally located. The room was comfortable and shower outstanding. Breakfast was delicious, we also enjoyed dinner and drinks. The pool area was great , we all enjoyed it
Would 100 percent recommend the Nacar Hotel. The location is safe and many cute shops and restaurants in walking distance. The staff also go above and beyond to help your experience in Cartagena go well. Oscar and Luis in particular were excellent! The staff helped us book a beach day, ordered our taxis when we needed them, and even helped me understand how to count pesos! The breakfast was hot and delicious every morning. The only caution is that there might be events such as weddings happening at night on the rooftop. We could hear the noise from our room. Thankfully it stopped when they told us it would and we could sleep comfortably. It wasn’t too late in the night just something to keep in mind!
