We were visiting beautiful Cartagena this past September. We had heard a lot of good things about Casa Lola so we naturally decided to see for ourselves what the fuss was all about. It was really nothing compared to what this beautiful boutique hotel is really like. It is simply spectacular. A lot of people would say it's not in the best location because it is in Getsemaní, the part of the historic Colonial City that's not inside the walls. But to me, this is one of the hotel's best features. Yes, the area is a little rougher around the edges and not as manicured as the "Ciudad Amurallada," but that's what makes it so special, so unique, so authentic. The hotel comprises 2 gorgeous historic houses (one Colonial and one from a later period), that have been completed renovated and decorated with the utmost taste. Just walking around appreciating the art, the decor, the beautiful hallways, patios, and lush vegetation is a complete delight.
We stayed in the Master Suite and I can say that I was speechless when we walked in. The room is sooooo beautiful, spacious, with very high ceilings, and a lot of light coming in from indoor gardens that can be seen behind huge glass doors. The shower was one of my favorite features: it is also open like the indoor garden, making you feel like you're taking a shower al fresco. The back of the room is a huge floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking a lush backyard. Inside the room, you feel like in a very luxurious room in the middle of a lush, tropical forest.
Breakfast was included and delicious. It included eggs at taste, fruit, bread, juice and coffee. My scrambled eggs with ham and cheese were always so tasty and most... yum!
And what can I say about the rooftop... breathtaking! I could just live there! The sunsets, the lounging areas, the small, intimate by very sophisticated rooftop pools, the views... stuff of dreams, really!
My only wish would be that the hotel had more spa services/area. Such a beautiful, quaint, high-luxe hotel needs better facilities than just a little area with 2 massage beds. I mentioned this to one of the staff members and he told us that the hotel is working on a larger spa area, potentially with a Turkish bath, sauna and other amenities. If that's true, this hotel would be beyond perfect!
I'm really glad we stayed at Casa Lola. I think it is officially my home in Cartagena from now on.

When you pass through the door you are transported to a calm, aromatized environmet, with a great reception and attendance. Nice and complete a la carte breakfast served in the open patio. A smal swimming pool in the roof top, a very nice place to rest, have a drink and sunbath. Room very very very comfortable, with a beautiful and modern decoration - what I didn't like was that our room was very close to the reception, so a lot of people passed by. The location was very good - outside the walls, but reachable by a short walk and with some options of restaurants nearby (cheaper than inside the walls). Also, the castle is reachable walking. Definetly would come back.

I booked this boutique hotel because I fell in love with the pictures of the garden where breakfast is served and because I was fascinated by the interior decoration. Well, no disappointment on this, but all the rest has been a bad experience. The reception is not quite effective, the rooms on the ground leve have no windows, are dark and really small, and they open into the garden of the hotel restaurant which is busy for lunch and dinner. This means that in front of your door you will have people eating, music, noise from the ventilators, waiters walking back and forth. The rooms on the second floor are bigger and brighter and much more expensive. In both cases the whole concept of thevrooms make no sense at all. Beside the beautiful design there are a number of details that got on our nerves. Nothing works as it should. Hot water is not hot. Cold water is not cold. The door handle falls on the floor every time you grab it. The bench for the luggage is broken. Your colthes would fall on the floor if you try to use the shelves (Ikea, I have them in my cellar) which are not straight any more. No place to hang wet towels. Tiny bathroom with huge door blocking every movement when open. The chairs at breakfast were extremely shaky and their legs got constantly stuck in between the wooden panels on the floor. The whole infrastructure and facilities need a serious renovation with comfort in mind and not only esthetic. Breakfast is one of the worse ever, not only in this category of hotel. Very bad quality of bread, limited fruit, only one choice of eggs, and any extra to be charged separately. Last bad experience: we booked dinner for the first evening in the restaurant, but the music was so loud and the a/c so cold that we decided to leave. I really cannot imagine so many people being happy in this structure.

This hotel is located in the Getsemani area of the walled city of Cartagena. We stayed in room number 10 - which is the most ideal room for couples. There are many rooms with no windows on the lower floor. Be aware of that, you might get a room with no window. Also, there a lot of uneven steps and surfaces, I would recommend this hotel for people that have no walking issues and are sober! Not suitable for young families or elderly. Very fun and friendly young staff that speak enough English to get by as I do with my Spanish. A shout out to Leiniker, Juan and Alejandro. Breakfast is included with typical options. Very nice rooftop pool and bar, although the pool is not made for laps. Small amenities in the room and shower water pressure is minimal. Close to all the action in the Getsemani area.

This place is truly SPECTACULAR! The hotel, restaurant and rooftop are wonderful. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel like you are at home. The rooms are immaculate, every inch of the space is covered by something beautiful, either decor or lush gardens. The rooms have ample space, hot water (not the case in most of Colombia), Cable TV, Mini fridge, AC, good Wifi and it is located walking distance form EVERYTHING.
This is the first place I've been since COVID and I felt as safe as I do in my own home. They are doing an awesome job of following protocols: face masks, gloves, temp checks, sanitation etc. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

We checked in to the Casa Lola late in the evening on a Sunday night amidst the onset of the COVID-19 social distancing. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating in getting us checked in and to our rooms at such a late hour. The rooms were fantastic, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel itself is a hidden gem in the Getsemani area of Cartagena. It is close to everything from restaurants, to cafes, to shopping, and sight seeing.
During our week's stay, as the city and country began limiting public gatherings, closing up early, and limiting our time outside of the hotel, the staff were absolutely incredible. They bent over backwards for us in an effort to make our time comfortable considering the events that were taking place in the world around us. The food was absolutely amazing, and we were fed a special "typical" meal on our last night before the hotel shut down as part of the precautionary steps that Colombia took to help curb the spread of COVID-19. The Hotel made sure that we had transportation to the airport during a time when no-one was allowed out of their homes unless they were "essential." I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cartagena, and if we ever get back to Colombia, we will definitely book our stay at Casa Lola again!

Hotel Casa Lulu is located in the Getsemani area of Cartagena, a short walk from the old walled city. Getsemani is a lovely area, and this can impact on the noise levels in and around the hotel at night.
The hotel is a design feast. Everywhere you turn there are fantastic design elements. It is simply stunning, and a lot of thought and effort has clearly gone into this. As a place to take photographs you will have endless opportunities, and subject matter. Really top class by any standards (5 stars).
Sadly, that Is where the attraction ends, or the owners simply ran out of talent? The rest of the offering is really not up to scratch for the price, location or style set by the designers.
Firstly, service. Not good enough for this price point - and, yes, I appreciate that service levels generally in Colombia are not at the same level as you might find elsewhere in the World. There is evidently a cultural and training issue here that the hotel would do well to address (1 star)
The bathrooms are sub-standard. Our toilet flushed in name only, there wasn’t much hot water, and the general fit and finish is poor. The rooms are also pretty small and could do with some more practical touches - like clothes storage. They look great in photos of course! (2 stars)
The hotel had a general feeling of dampness. The climate in Cartagena clearly makes it difficult to keep everything dry, but things like damp napkins, very tired and delaminating menus, and damp smells aren’t really acceptable. (2 stars)
So would I recommend Hotel Lola? In a word, no. Go for dinner (the food is ‘ok’ but expensive), or to the rooftop bar (stunning) and take pictures, but your hard earned money is probably best spent elsewhere.

Fantastic ! As non-guests we paid 30 dollars each for a day pass to access the pool which is a lot cheaper than most 4-5 star hotels in Cartagena. It was fantastic and the service was incredible, we were treated like VIPs despite not being actual guests. Welcome drink and towels on arrival and basically had the whole roof to ourselves for the whole day. 2 nice pools and fantastic view! Perfect !! We only wish we could have afforded to stay there for the night but it was a nice treat after a month of staying in backpacker hostels :)

Good location. Lovely restaurant, good food, we had nice lunch there. "Colonial" decorations and atmosphere in the hotel. In general, it could be nice accommodation if it would be more clean and better mainteined.
We didn't get any of rooms that were shown as our choice at Booking.com. They promised to check if possible to change next day but there was no further development on that...they just igonored. The rooms in a ground floor could have a problem of the noise from the restaurant or from the kitchen. Our room had a problem of noisy ventilation from the kitchen and some other kitchen noises. Fortunately, the ventilation was turned off after the kitchen was closed. There were some spots in the hotel and in our room that were untidy and not tasteful and clean looking, which should not be the case in any accommodation and especially not in those using titles like “Deluxe Gallery” and applying those prices. In general, we would come again for a lunch or a dinner to this place but not for an accommodation. There are better options which we experienced in Cartagena for the same or some lower price.

Dear Cindy
The airport is around 15 -20 minutes car ride. The hotel offer a free private pick up service from the airport to the hotel hotel but you have to send to send an e-mail at least 24hrs prior arrival with your flight itinerary so they can schedule the service.
I am in my early 30s and went with my Mom in her 60s, so two women on their own and we were recommended to Casa Lola by a friend. We never felt unsafe in the neighborhood or in the hotel. I’m fact, it was the best surprise how much we preferred Getsemani to the walled city. It’s got a great local vibe and better restaurants. The walk to the walled city (even if slow walkers) is no more than 10 mins, I just wouldn’t recommend cutting through the park at night (only day). While there isn’t security at the hotel, it’s locked and you have to ring a bell and be vetted before gaining entry. I couldn’t recommend Casa Lola more, we LOVED it.
It is 5-7 minutes walking, arround 3 blocks.
I don’t recall seeing one BUT I am sure they will sort it out for you. I commented on the lovely fragrance of the hotel. I was told where to find it, however the store was cloSed and it was our last day. The front desk staff had housekeeping put some in a bottle for me to take home. I put it in my diffuser at home and relive my Casa Lola experience!
Dear Sir / Madame
Thanks for your interest in Casa Lola.
Regarding your kind request, let me inform you that Casa Lola opperate as a hotel, so guests are not allowed to use the kitchen.
