We took two day trips to Isla del Pirata. Definitely planning on staying at Hotel Isla del Pirata the next time. It was an easy and great experience both times. We were staying at Casa Mantilla in the walled city and the owner of the house also owns Hotel Isla del Pirata. We called a couple of days in advance...

While in Cartagena we decided to visit the Islas Del Rosario. We went to the Isla del Pirata which is one of the smaller islands with somewhat less people visiting it, which is why we selected it. Really recommended to visit this or one of the other many Islas del Rosario, the Oceanario and especially the coral reef. All a...

Quick review - definitely worth the money as you get to experience a boat ride and coral waters with good views of the sea. The lunch wasn't my favourite, but that doesn't mean the quality of food wasn't great. Probably just one to tick of the list and I'm glad I did so.

I just went back to Pirata Island and had the greatest and most relaxing time with my family and friends. I have visited several times and always go back. Each time I am amazed by the beauty of the island, the great cabanas and wonderful food and service. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and beauty...

This incredible experience is a must, after 1 hour on a fast boat you arrive to the Rosario islands that are really nice, the clear blue waters, snorkeling in the reefs and being in touch with the nature is really the best. We went on a plan to stay one night and were lucky that we were able to extend...

This gem of a place is being squandered by incompetence and poor management. Just sad. Stayed 2 nights and 3 days with 2 friends. I had done a day trip a few months back and since my friends wanted a beach, what better place than a room that is 6 feet from the Caribbean? A mistake was made. Check in...

The photos make this look much better than it is. We spent most of a day on Isla del Pirata last week, but found it generally boring. The water is clear, and several of us enjoyed snorkeling from the boat that took us to the island. Snorkeling was a very good experience and value. The facilities need freshening up. Most...

It is clear that Isla del Pirata was once - and, with some investment and maintenance - could once again be a wonderful place. It still has its charms - location, especially for some of the accommodations. But it has fallen into such disrepair as to take away from its potential. Staff try to make do with what they've got....

How to get there: We were told to walk down to the docks between 8-9am to book a spot on a boat. (There are day trips to Playa Blanca and Isla del Rosario also). It is possible to book ahead of time and probably less stressful than what we did. While walking to the docks we met a man who...

Do not go on a day trip to el pirata island. Book something else, if you dont want to spoil your trip and be depressed for a day. Either the reviews with 3, 4 or 5 stars are either fake, or the people writing them have stayed in some pretty grim places to be able to compare to. This place...
