From the moment we walked into the lobby, our stay here was incredible. We were warmly greeted by Junior, who made a wonderful first impression and took care of everything for us. As we went through the check in process and passport checks, Junior at one moment slipped away and came back with two delicious welcome drinks.
After check in, he insisted on carrying all of our luggage upstairs to our room. And the room...so charming and relaxing! The television was on with a relaxing spa-like channel of music and birds. The room also had an inviting smell that was almost like we were entering a spa. The air conditioning was on, which was also a welcomed reprieve from the unrelenting heat and humidity of Cartagena.
We explored the city and came back to the bar where we had a couple of drinks before getting ready to head out to dinner. The bar is part of a separate (or sister) entity called Happy Wine. I would say the drinks were a bit overpriced and nothing special compared to what's available elsewhere in the city. But while we didn't eat at the restaurant, the food looked and smelled amazing.
Finally, after an evening in Cartagena we retreated back to the room and air conditioning. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept longer than we have in months.
We had an excellent stay, and will absolutely stay here again when you we're nack in the Cartagena. It's located in the a great spot, with a great people like Junior taking care of you throughout the stay. Highly recommended!

Our stay at the Hotel El Marqués was first-class. The hospitality began the moment we arrived with Junior’s warm welcome followed by a refreshing welcome drink. We were instantly impressed with the charming property with tons of Columbian character that has been well-maintained and spotless. Not a detail was overlooked our entire stay. We had an amazing stay at this beautiful hotel! Truly beautiful property and very boutique feeling since their are only 9 rooms! Service was excellent Michael at checkin and checkout made everything so easy! We arrived early and the room was ready for us even though I wasn’t expecting it to be ! Breakfast in the courtyard was great. They gave us 3 options.(American, healthy, costeña)would highly recommend this hotel and its location was excellent you are close to everything . We stayed here for one night in transition before going to the islands. We were traveling with our 2 year old. The hotel is very central, pretty, and the bar and restaurant were beautiful. The second floor lounge was also beautiful, with a piano available to play. I'm glad we were here just for one night because the room was awkwardly organized- there was a twin bed and then upstairs to a king. Not safe to leave a two year old, plus some dangerous stairs. The bathroom also had a sitting room, but this was an addition to the building, made with plexiglass, so it was unusably hot during the day, like a greenhouse. There was live music at night, which was great, but loud. Breakfast was included, and meh- we had much more delicious food elsewhere. Also the restaurant was rife with mosquitos. I would recommend this as a place for a night out, but I wouldn't stay over again.

This place is my favorite in Cartagena. Besides the beauty of this historical place, the service is amazing, you will always find a kind person ready to help you with everything you need. My wife and I got married at El Marques on December and we have only gratitude for everyone. They even reserved for my wife and her bridesmaids an entire living room area (with a piano and high ceilings) to have their make up and hair before the wedding, with no additional cost.

We had a great time!!!! The hotel was lovely and our room was so quiet, beautiful and comfy! The staff was excellent. The best. I can’t remember all the names but Junior took such great care of us. we felt right at home and very cared for. We also had a slight issue with our AC and had a blast fixing it with Giovanni! He made some great recommendations for our last day. Also shout out the ladies at the front door and front desk, the server and the bartenders - Armando, Anderson and Gabriel. Really wonderful staff here- it made such a difference and we are so appreciative.
