Overall, I think anyone would be pleased with their stay at the Hyatt Regency. We felt sage at the hotel as their was always a person waiting outside to greet us, day or night. The breakfast was pretty good for anyone looking to grab a quick bite before starting your day. The pool area can be pretty windy at night, but overall it was very nice. The room was nice and spacious, but we thought the bed was too hard for our preference. The location is around a 30 min walk from the main restaurants on Carrera 2 in Bocagrande. You're can Uber to many of the downtown areas which was often no more than $10 in pesos. I always found any service requests such as extra towels, or room cleaning to be completed pretty fast compared to other hotels I've stayed at. I was overall very pleased with my stay.

I attended a medical update event. And the hotel is impressive, the great security stands out since access to the room is from the elevator with the room card that marks the floor. The room is very spacious with a spectacular view of the sea, with a floor-to-ceiling window, a coffee maker with a delicious Juan Valdez coffee to drink in the morning. The bathroom is very well lit, even with a motion light sensor that turns on when you enter, very convenient, especially for older adults. Delicious breakfast with a wide variety of foods. The pools are the best I've ever been to and the atmosphere is magnificent. It has a very nice shopping center next door with several options of all kinds. Across the street is the apparently recently constructed beach, comfortable but still with some rocks so it is recommended to wear beach shoes. I recommend that the hotel place a place near the entrance for one to wash their feet to avoid dirtying the establishment. The event rooms are spacious, with important lighting, sound and food, with several bathrooms available. Congratulations.

Our stay at the Hyatt was wonderful. I recommend taking advantage of the spa, the price at the spa is some of the cheapest I have seen in multiple countries. I had the pedicure which was top notch (thanks Nicolle). Husband and I both also had the 90 minutes massage. One thing to note was there were no male massage therapist so my husband massage wasn't as strong as he would like. The menu for room service is a little limited so do order from the pool area before they close especially if your kids like fish and chips. The dinner in the restaurant is a little bland in taste so maybe venture out for dinner while staying here. There is also a full stock supermarket behind the hotel and a Starbucks just a short walk. Overall great stay and if you're a tea drinker like me please bring your own tea from your home because I was suffering due to the lack of green tea (quality) in this country lol. Since this is a 4-star hotel there is no house slippers in the rooms but there are robes, bring house slippers if you're someone like me who likes to wear something soft on tiled floors.

Spending some 200 nights yearly in hotels around the world, here is my notes.

Nice and attentive staff all over the hotel. Like when the staff members come to the same elevator, they are very polite and are greeting the guests. Every single one of the staff. Excellent job! Awesome hotel room with a great sea view. A bit more space for clothing was needed and more hangers on the wardrobe.

Buffet breakfast was great, nice selection of fruits.

One of the pool areas was under construction leaving only 2 for the hotel guests and day pass visitors. That information wasn’t very well advertised at the booking stage. I suggest to limit the access for day pass visitors during the renevation as these remaining pool areas very crowded especially during a weekend. No assigned kids pool, so screaming kids all over in the pool areas which is not very relaxing for anyone. There is only one shower on a lower pool deck which is well hidden. So, people go directly to the water without showering and then some of the most thoughtless people apply sunscreen IN the pool. If you take a look over the pool edge on the upper deck, you can see how dirty the water is after all sweat, sunscreen and prob. pee as well. But the drinks were great and pool boys very nice guys!

About the elevators as many have commented those being difficult. This a big hotel with a lot of elevators but I didn’t find the use of elevators more difficult than anywhere else. You change the elevator at floor 11 and that’s it. There is even a staff member helping with it on that floor. You can’t go wrong. But if you take that on elevator on the ground floor which has 2 times floor 11, make sure to press the lower one😅

Despite of the little pool inconvinience, we had a great stay!

Nice hotel but current renovations impact the stay. Regular restaurant and lounge are not open. Alternates are acceptable but space is limited. If you want to pick up ice for your room, stay on an even-numbered floor where ice machines are located. Otherwise you have to use the emergency stairs to get to a floor with ice; your room key only allows you access to your floor!
A/C system is excellent, a plus in steamy Cartagena. Location next to a mall is ideal.

We had an excellent experience and time at the Hyatt in Cartagena. The hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very accommodating, professional, warm and super nice. This has been the best staff we have meet while traveling. It really exceeded out expectations.  Adriana from reservations helped us coordinate a very large group of 32 people, with multiple reservations so we could be located in rooms nearby.

The bellman (botones) Bernardo, Juan y Miguel, were very helpful and nice, always prompt to assist us when needed. And recognizing us by saying "hi" whenever we passed the lobby.

The breakfast restaurant in floor 12 was exceptional; the food was always good and the variety was perfect to accommodate everyone, I wouldn't change anything. We had excellent service from all staff, for they learned our names and as soon as we walked in, Genesis and Laura welcomed us and made us feel at home. Juan, the supervisor, always ensured we sat together and we were taken care of.  Diomalda, Yulieth, Alexis y Lenys took care of us every morning during breakfast, taking our orders and helping us clean after the kids made a mess.

The pool area was amazing, kids and adults alike had a blast. Robinson, Favian and Oscar took very good care of us there.
One night we planned a celebration at the pool area, the Amacagua restaurant, and José Luis Rodriguez coordinated it beautifully, he took care of the dinner plans and the cake for the birthday celebration, making it stress free for us.

Also, Camilo, the concierge, helped us organize so many activities and tours, making everything so much easier and enjoyable.

In house keeping, the cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning our rooms: 1912 and 3202. Their names skip my mind, but my sons were happy, they even folded the clothes of a messy teenager!!!

The Spa staff was also very nice and did a great job. We really enjoyed the couple's massage with the Mama Mia included for my pregnant wife. And my inlaws who said, "this was the best massage they have ever gotten."

The only thing I am disappointed about, is that the rooms' hallways were much warmer than the elevators and actual guest rooms. We had family in floors 19, 23, and 32, and they all reported the common areas in their floors being hot. I thought the air conditioning (AC) was off, but one employee confirmed there are no ACs. Only floors 39, 40, 41, and 42 have them. For the amount of money spent at this Hyatt location, one would expect for the common areas in guest floors to feel comfortable and cool. For example, the AC temperature in the 12 floor was welcoming and enjoyable. But when I went to my room in the 32th floor, I strongly disliked the walk from the elevator to my room, for how hot it was! If ACs are impossible to install in guest hallways, perhaps installing celling fans may help to improve this dilemma (lack of AC).

I absolutely enjoyed my 4 night stay with in my ocean view room. It was the best to wake up to that wall to wall, ceiling to floor scenary. It is definitely worth having breakfast inclusive in your stay. They had a wonderful buffet that they alternated every other day. You could also go up to one of the cooks there to make eggs for you. They had fresh squeezed watermelon juice, pineapple juice, cantalope juice, and others. Lots of fresh fruits, yogurt options, etc. I could go on and on. I loved having eggs with plantain, this AMAZING rice (seasoned to perfection!) with zucchini and bell peppers in it... aww man, they did not disappoint. Plenty of seating inside and you can eat outside as well.

The steam room was awesome amenity (at least in the ladies locker room; I would think the men's locker has one too) to have after using their well-equipped fitness center. You have instructions to turn it on because it is not kept on. Whether you want to do cardio, strength training (on any muscle group), or yoga, they have multiple machines, mats, stability balls, free weights, kettlebells, etc. They also have towels, a water cooler, and sanitation wipes. I liked the ample space in the locker rooms. There are locker, but they do not lock so leave your valuables in your room if you don't trust it. I like the fact that the locker room also lead outside to the infinite pool on the 14th floor which was more private (adults only) than the one on the 12th floor.

The fish and (yucca) chips at the bar and grill for a evening snack is still on my mind. It was that good.

I would say that nothing in the room's bar is free. Not even tea, so don't touch eat/drink anything in the room if you don't want extra charges.

Overall, the experience was amazing! The place did not feel overcrowded with too many patrons. The check in and check out process was quick and straight foward. There is also a supermarket right next door which was super convenient. The location was great, as it was only about 7 minutes from the city behind the Wall (~1.30 US$ OW Uber ride) which had SEVERAL amazing restaurants, cafes, and shops!!!

I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to return to one of my favorite hotels: Hyatt Regency Cartagena. And the hotel and its fantastic staff again didn't disappoint.
There was a small issue with my room at check-in, but the Front Desk staff was very kind and found an even better room for me and added complimentary perks for my stay. They also sent chocolates and fruit to apologize for the minor inconvenience.
My new room was a suite with ocean view and I loved it! It was spacious, bright, clean and every piece of furniture or appliance was comfortable and in great condition. I also had access to the Club level of the hotel where every time I entered I was greeted warmly and with a smile. I was traveling solo, and the staff made me feel like I was a part of their family. The evening canapes were fantastic, the space was large, with many seating areas and was never crowded. I had breakfast at the restaurant because I loved seating on the open air restaurant tables and enjoy the most delicious breakfast items. The food both in the Club room and the restaurant was equally high quality, always fresh with large variety- certainly one of the very best I have experienced anywhere in the world.
Housekeeping was also excellent; my room was always perfectly cleaned right away, and the staff was never intrusive.
The hotel is a 5-min. taxi or Uber ride to the center of the old town, or 20 min. walk. I was away from the crowds and the noise, while being really close.
I love Cartagena, and Hyatt Regency has played a large part of my positive experience during both of my trips there . I hope to be able to return for another stay in the near future. Thank you, Hyatt Regency Staff, for again making my stay so wonderful!

I will start off by saying I 1000% recommend the Hyatt Cartagena. The hotel is a 15 minutes drive from the airport and a 5-10 minutes drive to the port/old town. There’s a mall next to the hotel. The hotel is clean, modern and most importantly feels safe with the level of security they’re implement. The hotel lobby is on the 12th floor and the rooms starts from 14 - 32/34 (I believe ). When you first enter the hotel you take the elevator to the 12th floor to check in. Then you take a separate elevator that leads you to your room. Access to the floor is only with your room key, despite having a room key you it will not allow you to access other floors unless it’s a common space floor e.g spa floor. The room I a comfortable size for 2 adults with a table and chair and a lounge chair with footrest. The room is extremely clean. In the pictures the carpet might look questionable (which it was to me when I view the pictures online), however I can assure you the carpet is not dirty. It’s just the carpet is a natural type material (natural canvas) so it does not pick up well in pictures giving the illusion that it’s dirty. The shower is a glass shower with a rainfall head, water pressure was strong, toilet is in the bathroom but in a separate room with a louvre door for privacy. They are enough space in the bathroom to rest your self/personal care items. The hotel pool all of them are amazing, the water was clear and warm. The breakfast, omg add the breakfast to your reservation, you will not regret it. The breakfast was endless options from all the array of local/international fruits, pastries, salad bar, cereal station, fresh omelette station. The breakfast everyday incorporated local cuisine/international cuisine. One morning I had vegetable soup for breakfast. I had a good set of options despite being vegetarian. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you Maria M., Diomaida, Jhon Morates, and Niveria (spelt wrong). Don’t hesitate go ahead and book and you will not regret it.

Breakfast is included and is very good and plentiful. Not a good idea to do an all-inclusive plan , however, for 2 reasons: there is limited fare in the restaurant that was open when we were there. The other restaurant was being renovated. But the big reason not to go for all inclusive is because of the fabulous and interesting restaurants in downtown (historic section) Cartagena. We found several with great food and beautiful surroundings.

I'm not sure they have a "nightly security deposit". At check-in, they just charged an authorization to my card for about $250 US for each room I booked.
