Detailed Reviews
Excellent hotel, one of the best I have ever stayed.
There is a nice combination between classical and modern, and the palms are creating a heavenly atmosphere.
The rooms are modern, the furniture is old, the toiletries were provided every day (and we asked for them where they didn't put them).
The breakfast is having a lot of good stuff to eat. There are some people who should put on plates what is wanted from the buffet, and sometimes it's a bit annoying because they don't put enough, but in general it was ok.
The pool is a semi-olimpical one and clean, very nice indeed.
Senor Alexander, the manager, is a very nice person, organises some nice events for the evenings.
The receptionists are nice, they let us stay until 2pm for check out saying they are very busy and vacating the room at 2pm I noticed that even at 4pm (when we left the hotel to go to the airport) there was no cleaning in the room (so they could have left us the room until 4pm).
The worst part are the waiters, who move very slowly (we waited more than an hour to receive some milanesas) or forget to take the order, but in the end the whole stay ended well.
The hotel itself is a wonderful place!

El Prado hotel is a great value (we paid about $45 USD per night) and great stay. They offered an amazing breakfast buffet, and had a couple of eating places on site (i.e. pizza place and poolside bar). The pool looked great (though we didn't use it). We were there for an onsite wedding, which it was a great place for. I would have given them 4 1/2 stars, but couldn't give 5 solely for the fact that the rooms smelled musty/earthy, likely due to the high year-round tropical humidity.

This is by far the best hotel value I've ever experienced. For only 45 bucks a night you get an amazing value. The staff are excellent, the rooms actually look like the web photos and are great, the food is fantastic--including the pizzeria. Everyone I met on staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The patio, pool, and tiki bar are all top notch. The hotel itself is a wonderfully restored example from the classic days. My only nitpick is that the buffet breakfast and lunch service was sometimes awkward due to the setup, but the enthusiasm of the staff to provide good service overcomes any downsides. Wholeheartedly recommended!

+1
The architecture of the building is amazing.
The pool is very nice.
Gardens planted with palmtrees are beautiful.
The location is great.
WiFi is strong.
Beds are excellent.
Air conditioning is perfect.
Value is very good.
We booked 3 rooms. Two of them were out of order so 2 of us were moved to junior suites.
The junior suites were very badly decorated with useless worn out sofas and chairs.
The desk was not placed near electric plugs so we needed to move it.
One of the junior suites didn't have a minibar.
Windows and mirrors were very dirty.
There was not enough water pressure.
In one of the junior suites, there were holes in the wash basin and the toilet paper holder fell down.
In the other junior suite, there were holes in the wall.
The line for breakfast lasted more than half an hour and breakfast was not that good.

I stayed at the hotel with my family and friends in an executive suite. Service at the pool restaurant and at breakfast was excellent. Kiddos to Freddy and Yumeris. The reason for my low rating is related to a number of issues I experienced each of the days of my stay. During two consecutive days the bathroom was flooded due to poor drainage design of the shower, it got flooded again after maintenance said it was fixed. Then, there was a power outage and I was trapped in the elevator for 30 minutes with no assistance from the hotel. It turned out that the emergency system and generators were not working and hotel staff was not trained to deal with this type of situation. I was exposed to heat exhaustion, low ventilation and panic for 30 minutes with no assistance from the hotel. I came out of the elevator when the power came back. I see this as a poorly managed situation from the top. The pool is beautiful, however, as it can be seen in the photos, it has black mold accumulated. My main concern was the way the hotel responded to the issues I experienced particularly with the elevator entrapment situation. For the price they charge for the room and food, this hotel is not worthy coming back. They need to get in gear solving a number of serious issues, starting with customer satisfaction

1. When we arrived there was only one receptionist, we had to wait a long time to be served.
2. There was a short circuit in the room, we were without power for more than an hour, and because we made complaints and were talking to reception to demand a change of room, otherwise we stayed all night, after they hesitated with us about the times, Wait five minutes after having been without power for half an hour, and it took 15 minutes to give us a response, it is not worthy of a 5-star hotel, finally after complaining several times because we were with a small 2-year-old girl, they changed our room.
3. Change of room to another that had been closed for months, everything was very old and neglected with dust, a huge musty smell, we had to leave the air on to leave the room and even then hours later the smell did not go away, there is no inspection prior to the rooms that are delivered to clients. The mattresses in the room were very hard, compared to those in the other room, one towel for 3 people...
4. They do not have a microwave to heat a simple bottle, the buffet food was very bad and simple

There’s a reception hall beneath the rooms , should there be an event get ready to feel the music and bass in your bones until 4am…I kid you not.
Also the shower has lukewarm water while the sink is boiling hot????
There’s a room check every so often …feels like big brother is watching you.
The hotel has a very nice vintage feel authentic to say the least.Clean.
Large pool.
Make sure there are no weddings or events during your stay as you will not be able to sleep.

It is a beautiful hotel, but the pool needs better cleaning and brushing.
Older rooms should have equipment that extracts moisture.
Better finish of rails in shower room B21 (silicone stained with moisture).

We always stay here when in Barranquilla. An incredible value for the money. A great old hotel with very good staff and service. They do get a little overwhelmed when a lot of folks show up for breakfast, but the staff try even harder to make things work. We had some trouble with room service, but it's not enough for me to take anything away from the overall great experience. Highly recommended, I tell my friends to stay here when they are in town. To keep the hotel honest, I'll sample the competition from time to time, but I alway come back.

The pool lifeguard followed my kids and gave us attitude. I had to leave the hotel and shorten my stay I have never seen rude staff confront me like I am an unpleasant guest before, at the room the sink had horrible mold mildew and the room smelled very musty. I also think the gossip reigns hard at this location as all employees were pointing at us and gossiping at our very short and horrible stay. Had to leave in the morning. Didn't use the pool, was told if you bring a guest you must pay for them too even if its one kid.
