Nice view of the area around. However shabby rooms and not clean. Not well maintained at all. Might be suitable for students and backpacker. Bathrooms not divided into wet and dry areas so quite a mess if sharing the room

Very nice place to have a good view over Qingdao. Have been there a few times for breakfast, dinner or just to have some drinks. As it is also a hostel always a lot of international people are there and it is nice to have a talk with people from all over the world. They speak good English!

This hostel is nicely located on top of one of Qingdao's beautiful rolling hills. The staff is friendly and the view from the rooftop bar is amazing. I stayed in a private two-bed room while my sister was visiting from NYC. She was pretty impressed that a youth hostel could be so lively, clean, and thrifty. I don't remember the... More

Apart from their amazing view from their bar at the top of the hostel nothing else is worthwhile. (Staff was friendly tho') Unclean moisty rooms with mold (atleast the two rooms we had), the place has so much potential for so much more. Can be a little hazzle to find but it is not to bad, it's China.

An absolutely great place to stay, we stayed in a private 12 bed room even though there were only 6 of us, because they had no places left when we booked but it was great fun! Beds were clean (enough) and comfy (enough), the only small issues were that the shower drains drained slowly so you ended up standing in... More

This hostel is much better than than the nearby Kaiyue hostel if you have strong legs because you need to walk up to the hill for at least 100 meters. The English is not as good as the staff at Kaiyue but good enough for hostel business. The roof top is where the bar is and you can see the... More

My girlfriend and I wanted to spend a nice weekend in Qingdao. Due to the beerfestival the prices for hotels were a bit steep and we decided for the room in the Old Observatory - and were utterly disappointed. We paid roughly 500RMB for the room per night, which is around 60 Euro or 80USD, and we got a dirty... More

I stayed at the old Observatory with a bunch of friends for a birthday weekend. It was a nice spot and the staff were really friendly. Momo the receptionist even took us out sightseeing one day. It's located in old town on the top of a hill...we had to ask the staff to order taxis for us as they don't... More

I booked the three-bed room, with a private bathroom for us. All I can say about this hostel that it's a really nice hostel. Since it's located on a hill, the view from the top outdoor bar is very amazing. There is also an indoor bar and restaurant. I came during the snowy winter, and I could see the snowy... More

Liked: They provided a nice map of the attractions, but that's about it. Disliked: This hostel was so hard to find. After the cab dropped me off at the bottom of the hill, I still had to stop and ask directions twice before I found it. The rooms smelled very strongly of mildew and the bed smelled very musty. There... More
