This hotel is awesome, its location, decor, rooms, food, spa, and gym are all brilliant. I stayed for 9 nights on a business trip. The reason i include 'frustrating' in the title is there are several things that just took the shine away and removed the 5th star for me: The main issue is the buffet restaurant, the food is amazing, but they let so many people in (non guests too) that the majority of times you go up they have run out of what you want. The worst example of this is the sushi counter where locals swarm as soon as the chefs put some out meaning there is regularly nothing available. On the couple of days it was quieter the restaurant was 5 star. The smoke house restaurant was also frustrating, had a really poor experience there with both service and food, seemingly against common opinion. So what else was frustrating? We found out at check in that the pool was out of action for our entire 10 day stay - couldve let us know prior to arrival, the one night i called room service was an awful experience culminating in the poor girl who could barely speak English realising while i was on the phone that they hadnt put the latest menu in my room, despite the hotel being part of an American chain i would put the ratio of staff who can engage properly in English to those who cant at 1:4, the concierge doesn't really know the best things to do for visitors almost giving a shrug of the shoulders when asked for suggestions, and finally they want 10 times the cost of a taxi for a hotel car! Still a 4 star experience but the hotel itself deserves 5 comfortably.

This is a favorite hotel among me and my colleagues who want to spend a weekend get-away in the city. Grant Hyatt Dalian, located on the beach at Xinghai Square, has the best service and most beautiful rooms of any hotel in Dalian. The guest rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with floor to ceiling views of the ocean. The staff is professional, courteous, and perfectly present when needed. Whether you come for a staycation or a vacation, you won't be disappointed.

The Grand Hyatt Dalian is located at Xinghai Square with tons of restaurant options within walking distance. The room views of Xinghai Square, the beach, and the mountains are breathtaking (see photo). The Club Lounge is wonderful with not only spectacular views but top- notch service. Joy and the manager Karry went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The Grand Hyatt Dalian is my new favorite Dalian hotel and we will stay here on our return.

My experience at the Show Kitchen restaurant was a far cry from what I had expected from a reputed hotel like Grand Hyatt Dalian and left a sour taste in my mouth.
Firstly, upon our arrival, the front desk representative tried to sell us a membership. We politely declined the offer, but the representative's attitude immediately changed, and he became rude and dismissive. To add to our disappointment, the ambiance of the restaurant was also lacking. The lighting was harsh and uninviting, and the seating arrangements were uncomfortable, with tables placed too close to each other.
Also, we noticed that there were certain dishes that were only available to members of the restaurant. We were disappointed to learn that we were not allowed to order these dishes, and we were treated differently from the members. Moreover, when we asked the staff about these dishes, they gave us a dismissive attitude, which made us feel like secondary guests. This type of treatment is unacceptable and goes against the principles of fair and equal treatment of all guests. As paying customers, we believe that we should receive the same level of service and treatment as any other guest at your restaurant. It is disheartening to feel like we are not valued as customers simply because we are not members.
We hope that the hotel will take steps to address this issue and ensure that all guests, whether members or non-members, are treated with the same respect and courtesy. We believe that every guest should be given the opportunity to experience the full range of your menu and services, regardless of their membership status.

If you're looking for a relaxing spa experience, you'll be disappointed. In order to save energy, the staff turns off the hammam and the heating of the children's pool. To our question to the hotel staff “why is the water in the children’s pool cold”, the hotel staff answered “because the weather outside is cold.” I turned on the hammam and went to eat, waiting for the hammam to warm up. When I returned to the hammam two hours later, I found the hammam turned off. I couldn’t relax in the hotel’s hammam because it was turned off all the time.

Beautiful hotel with nice rooms and a great view. My only complaint was the room service. My food was not hot and the breakfast was particularly bad. They ran out of breakfast potatoes and gave me cabbage. Yes, cabbage. When I called to ask about the missing potatoes is when they explained the substitution. I tried to explain that this wasn't really acceptable (that I don't like cabbage, cabbage and potatoes aren't exactly interchangeable, what if I had been allergic, why didn't they ask me or provide options for a substitution instead of making that decision, etc.) but it didn't really register. My "toast" was plain bread - not only not toasted but a little chilled as if it had been recently taken from refrigeration. That, combined with cold butter, made it impossible to spread butter on the bread. I can't comment on their restaurants but this didn't fill me with confidence. If you plan to eat elsewhere (and Dalian has a lot of great food options!) this is a great place to stay. If you plan to regularly utilize the room service, I'd go with another hotel.

It is Dalian where everything is cheaper than National average. However, the price of this property is way above the average grand Hyatt. Breakfast is not included. The pool is terrible. It is nice to have a bidet in the room, however unfortunately not working. Elevator system is interesting that you have to switch multiple times if you want to go to room, gym, or bar. Most importantly, the address on the Hyatt official APP is incorrect that misled me. Otherwise I’d go for the Marriott castles for sure.

We tried multiple hotels in Dalian, before we came to Grand Hyatt hotel, where we stayed for the remainder of our trip (4 weeks), because my kids were very happy with the hotel and didnt want to try other hotels. We were extremely satisfied with this hotel. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The location of the hotel are great. The ocean view from the room were the best, especially the light show everynight on the bridge which we can see right in our room. My kids said it was way better than the Harbour bridge in Sydney🤣

It’s a nice hotel with great staff (most of them) and good location. The room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was great. I saw many younger people staying at the hotel that makes the hotel more energetic. There were beautiful coastline and a huge square down the hotel, where you can take a walk or jogging if weather permits. The overall service and food in the e hotel were excellent!

I am not sure about a steam room and sauna. Most of the nice hotels in China do have a steam room & sauna in both the spa and changing rooms at the fitness center. So, my guess is yes they do have steam room and sauna.
