I was at the hotel for just 1 night and checked in with a conference group so I didn't have any interaction with the front desk as our rooms were all assigned and ready when we arrived. Basically this probably should be a 5-star given the fancy installations but it just doesn't make it for the international traveler. I wanted to use the Wifi but you need a Chinese mobile phone to accept the authentication required. Since I was with a conference they helped me but if you are traveling alone I don't think you'll be able to connect! The rooms are fine - a little worn - but really not bad. Linens were good but the bed was really hard. Impossible to watch TV - I was literally unable to figure out the remote and couldn't even turn on the TV. Didn't matter though, since it looked like all the channels were local. The restaurant buffet is definitely Chinese. No western options except toast and bread for breakfast. There was coffee, but they just don't have the knowledge about western habits to put together anything more than that. The surroundings looked very nice but didn't have the chance to roam. If you are looking for something secure and at a good price, this will fit the bill.

We booked this hotel after a Yangtze cruise as we had a flight out the same day but late in the evening. So we didn't stay the whole night. The room we were given was fine and we had no issue at all with this. The hotel is big and centrally located and it was cool to see the pics of famous people and statesmen/women who had visited. My problem was the chaos at the reception desk. It took forever to check in and again to check out. They said they didn't have our reservation. After showing them the confirmation and a lot of long telephone calls with no apology they said ok yes you have a reservation and tried to charge a higher rate. After I explained that I would not be paying any more than in the booking confirmation I had this was reluctantly agreed to and we were allowed to check in. When we came to check out and I tried to pay by cash I was told we had already paid by card and would need a refund. I explained I thought it was just a hold but no they said it was not (it was when I got my credit card bill) so had to go through yet another long process to sort this out. They then arranged swiftly a taxi for us but didn't explain it was a fixed fare to the airport which meant the taxi driver brought us back to the hotel to get them to explain this making us late for the airport. Nothing wrong with the room but worse service of our china trip

We stayed overnight before boarding cruise ship. The hotel is very big and easy to find. Staff had minimal English. Room was clean and comfortable, beds reasonably soft. Non smoking room but had some cigarette smoke coming through aircon vents. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy walk to river and 10 min taxi ride to pier.

We stayed here for 2 nights. We paid RMB391 per night including taxes for a twin bedroom ensuite including breakfast. You need to pay a deposit amount of RMB300 upon arrival. There is free wifi which is strong throughout the hotel. Our room was on the ground floor (which is called first floor like in China and the US). It was quiet and relatively spacious. The shower was powerful and had ample amounts of shampoo and bath gel. There is no safe in the room which is a slight minus but it did not affect us. The breakfast was ample and above average for China – it had pastries, fruits and cornflakes rather than just the usual Chinese fried rice, soup noodles and cabbage. We arrived early at 9am and the staff allowed us to check in early. We were also supposed to check out at 2pm but we did not do so until 3pm. Normally, they charge you 10% of the daily rate that the guest has been paying but they did not penalise us on this occasion so we were very grateful. There is also a photograph board with names of famous people who have stayed at this hotel including Xi Jinping, Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Henry Kissinger and some other politicians.

We stayed for 2 nights with the family. The hotel is grand and Chinese style. English service limited. Room quality is good except the carpet which as usual is not being vacuumed. My parents got a free upgrade to executive floor which was nice. It's quiet except for other guests who bang the doors and run on the corridors at 6am. It's also located in a walking distance to the river bank. Overall a nice experience and a good quality hotel for reasonable price.
