Inspired by the sea, The Sanya EDITION is an exceptional new destination on Hainan Island, just off the coast of Southern China. Water, a source of vitality and serenity, defines the lush 50-acre EDITION property, which features a spectacular private ocean along with two pools. All of the 506 guestrooms in the horseshoe-shaped hotel have ocean views. In addition, 11 hotel villas are nestled into a terraced hillside with ocean views, private pools, and pavilion spaces. Nearby attractions abound, such as shopping at luxury designer outlets, but once guests cross the entrance into The Sanya EDITION, they become part of an experience that is other-worldly.

The GOOD & THE BAD. I stayed here in Dec 2021 for 4 nights. THE GOOD: Amazing lobby, nice shower gel, good location. THE BAD: This hotel does have a really nice luxurious feel, but they have missed on the basics in such a huge way. You arrive into the most amazing lobby ever, half the size of a football pitch with amazing architecture everywhere, but then move into a TINY check-in room with a HUGE QUEUE, and only 2 counters operating with 5+ staff just watching. Then, when you start the check-in process it goes on and on and on and on for, in our case, 20mins+. MARRIOTT - you know the check in deal, people are tired after traveling and don't want to wait, this is TOTALLY unacceptable at this level of property. Fix it. Secondly, the rooms, and this is the big issue. The rooms are amazing, great showers and beds. BUT, the build quality of walls, ceilings and floors must use absolutely the cheapest material known to man. THE NOISE from above, below and each side of the room is UNBELIEVABLE. You can hear EVERY single footstep in the room above. You can hear EVERY word said in the corridors. You can hear EVERY door slam. For a luxury hotel charging these prices, the build quality is TERRIBLE. I just could not believe the noise, even after changing rooms. As a global hotel group leader, I cannot believe anyone signed off on this build quality. Front facing, the luxury feel is there, and done well in parts, but if only you had spent more of the money on the BASICS. People just want FAST CHECK IN and QUIET ROOMS. Is that so hard to understand?!!!!!!!! Come on, I know you can fix this, so please do so. Then this amazing hotel will be so much better. :)

Dear 20nbbbbbb, Thank you for choosing to stay with The Sanya EDITION. I'm delighted to read your compliments on our design, shower gel and location. Meanwhile, we highly appreciate your valuable feedback on the areas you have mentioned where you feel we could improve at. I have shared with respective department heads for timely following up on that. We look forward very much to welcoming you back in the not distant future. Sincerely, Executive Assistant to General Manager

When I arrived Sanya EDITION on Dec 17, I never thought this would be my WORST nightmare in entire 2021. Initially I just wanted to take my 75 yrs old grandmother to spend a warm long weekend in Sanya, but this EDITION really ruined everything: The accident happened on the second night of my stay. My grandma already fell asleep so I closed both the shower room door and the sliding door of the bathroom to minimize the noise (I only closed the shower door on the first night), but it was already late when I realized the exhaust fan of the shower room wasn’t working efficiently, I started feeling dizzy and could not stand still, eventually I fell on the floor, and the sharp metal part on the shower door cut my face when I fell. My face was covered with my blood and my blood was all over the floor. The duty manager and their medical staff came to my room after I called. Both me and my grandma saw them taking pictures of the scene. I have blood phobia so I almost fainted after I got injured, (and also because I trusted EDITION brand never thought they would play nasty) so I did not take any picture. I ended up with a 1 inch cut on my forehead and a medical bill about 2.7k RMB. The manager of Sanya EDITION told me they had nothing to do with my injury because I fell by myself. Here is the thing: If the hotel environment is free from hazards and I fall on the floor, I’ll just get a bruise and get over with it, but EDITION you guys have a sharp metal thing that cut my face!!! So please stay away from Sanya EDITION If you are traveling with children or the elderly, the facilities at this hotel are just not safe. Please note that I was NOT even asking for any compensation at that time, although my injury was definitely Sanya EDITION’s liability and we all know the hotel has accident insurance for consumers. I only asked for the pictures of the scene, which I saw the manager had taken with his phone. My medical insurance is not eligible in Sanya, so I need pictures of the accident to file the insurance. I contacted two different managers and got zero reply, so I called Marriott group customer service, asking them to get someone to response my request. Finally, one manager called me and directly told me:” We will not give you the photos. Those are for internal use only.” I asked: if Sanya EDITION doesn’t give me my photos to file insurance, are you guys paying my medical bill? The manager basically told me they won’t give me a penny for my injury. Our lawyer told me, as the victim, I have every right to ask for pictures of the scene. The only reason they are not giving me the photos is: those evidence would be their disadvantages if I file a lawsuit against Sanya EDITION. Lawyer suggested me to call the police, so I did. After the police officers arrived, I heard the duty manager told police officer that they already had a meeting yesterday about my injury. HELLO??? You guys already had a meeting about MY injury but kept PLAYING DUMB with me UNTIL I GOT THE POLICE??? THAT IS DISCUSTING!!! Thanks to the Sanya police officers, I got the pictures in the end. And since those pictures are so hard to get, I am more than happy to share with you all, and to once again remind you to stay away from this hotel, for your own good. There is a dozen of luxury hotels on the same street, pick somewhere else but definitely not this nasty hotel. I paid more than $2000 for my stay and this is what I got, and this is what Sanya EDITION think their customers deserved. I would give 0 point but Trip Advisor won’t let me do that, so I am giving this only point to the housekeeping team – Mrs. 王霞献 and several other staff who had cleaned our room at different times. Those nice ladies are the only human being at this hotel that actually cared about my injury. After my accident, they still asked me how I felt every day when she cleaned our room. Meanwhile the senior levels of Sanya EDITION acted like they are dead. You guys are the rats of Chinese hospitality industry. Just wait for the summons y’all jxrks at Sanya EDITION.

Had a marvellous stay in the summer so I came back for winter break. I stayed for four nights this time and got an ocean front room which is right in the middle of the horseshoe so awesome views from the balcony. There were ridiculously noisy people upstairs the entire time unfortunately, but I was prepared with my sound machine and sleepphones so make sure you pack a sound machine if you are a light sleeper. I thoroughly enjoyed the special shows they put on over Christmas as well. The drone show was awesome! The service overall is impeccable - special mentions to Carina at reception for helping this non-native Mandarin speaker out as well as Reizo, Miranda and Chef Suriana at Barbacoa. I will definitely be back to swim at the revamped lap pool! Shame it wasn’t ready this time round.

Sanya Edition is the best hotel I have ever stay in the past ten years. Service is excellent and thank you GR Peggy for arranging the amenities to me and my partner when she knew we were celebrating our anniversary. Front desk Phoebe was very helpful and assisted us to print some missing documents. Definitely will come back on our next visit!!!

Me and my husband stayed at The Sanya Edition, we had received so many good recommendations that this was the best hotel in Sanya and after staying here, we can definitely agree with that! If I could describe in few words, it would be perfect, luxury, above all expectations! We stayed at the Loft Ocean Front that has a gorgeous sea view, a huge round bathtub and a jacuzzi on the terrace! We could stay the whole day enjoying the room, it was hard to leave the room! Breakfast is served at Market restaurant, it’s a complete buffet, with western and eastern choices, I was happily surprised that they even had decaf oat latte! I loved their pink dragon fruit that Rob explained us that it comes from a local farm near the hotel, that’s why it was so fresh! The hotel has 4 restaurants, during our stay we had european food at Egret, balinese sea food at Barbacoa and Hot pot/buffet at Market and all of them had delicious food, amazing atmosphere and attentive service! I recommend all of them! Every night we had drinks at Sky Bar, their rooftop bar, with an amazing view, DJ and great cocktails! The hotel has 4 pools and a small private beach, which is very nice as we didn’t see so many people on the same time in the pool and could relax and enjoy it a lot! Hotel is located in Haitang Bay, the new area where best and newer resorts are! It’s very close to Sanya Duty Free Mall, the hotel offers daily transfers to the mall and special discount coupons! Special thanks to the GM Edward, hotel manager Rob and assistant director F&B Felipe for making it a memorable stay! We will definitely stay at The Edition when we come back to Sanya!

Great breakfast even with many different choice for you ….. see you soon again Edition !!! And thanks a lot for everything …..

As someone seldom writes reviews, my first contribution goes to Sanya Edition. 5 stars for sure, would like to rate more if I could. The luxury brand of Marriott is really worthy of the name. The modern and decent design provides lots of insta worthy spots. I can do it all day😎 Every staff I met here was professional and considerate. Some little things were so sweet and touching, for the staffs considered even more than myself. Special thanks to Colin, who made great efforts to make it a special memory and a wonderful ending of my trip to Sanya. He deserves a promotion and a pay raise 😎@the managers An unforgettable one-day stay here, looking forward to come back soon😊
