Stayed here the first night we arrived in Punta Arenas. Like older European hotels the elevator is somewhat small, as are the rooms, but that's not why you come here. JG has an accommodating staff that is friendly and helpful, a decent breakfast and the famous(for polar explorers) Shackleton Bar. If it's available try a glass of the replica Highland...

We were unexpectedly moved to this hotel by our travel agent when late changes were necessary to our itinerary. In spite of initial concerns we were delighted with the experience and would recommend the experience to anyone. Because of the late booking we were accommodated in a top floor room with and outside view - however the view was only...

Centrally located across from the Plaza Del Armas, near restaurants, shops and a super market. Rooms are a bit small but the bathrooms are modern. Hotel has a bar and nice restaurant serving a good buffet breakfast. Nice place to stay.

Dear Passenger, thanks you for your good comments. About rooms I have to say that as a National Monument is not posible to intervene to much the building, for that reason also not all de rooms are the same size, in that way we can't do to much about size of rooms but we can offset it with good services....

We popped in for a coffee, being intrigued by the indoor vines in the Art Nouveau-ish glass-house, but were enthralled by the Shackleton Bar, commemorating his heroics. Haven't tried it as a hotel, but our brief experience took us into another world.

This hotel was Sara Braun's mansion, one of the most powerful women in Punta Arenas history. Room was nice and comfy, try to make you feel in a french luxury place, but cheap art and a couple of bad details make it fails. It's very notorius where's the original good taste and where the recent "not so good taste" modifications....

Stayed two nights coming and going from TDP. A beautiful old hotel , refurbished and in excellent condition, Rooms are variable in size but all seem to have quality appointments. My first room ( booked direct) was large and quiet. My second room (booked through a reseller for half the price) was quite small and suffered from street noise.. caveat...

We chose this hotel for the location, historical significance, and the Shackleton Bar. The room was small, but tidy. The breakfast room gorgeous and the breakfast adequate. We got help from the front desk to organize a trip to see the penguins and had to leave at 6:25 in the morning. I wasn't feeling well so stayed behind and was...

The best thing is the location. Rooms vary greatly. The first single room had two large windows which were nice. The downside was they face the street which has the sounds of motorcycle and drag racing until about 2 in the morning. I had requested a quiet room, but this is the room I was assigned. There was a problem...

I spent 2 nights here prior to a Cascades Patagonia Safari Adventure based out of the EcoCamp at Torres Del Paine. Jose Nogueira is located right next to the square. The building is beautiful. It used to be the house of a Patagonian pioneer and it is located in the center of the town, next to Plaza de Armas. The common areas are charming. We had a very small rooms but very clean. The breakfast needs improvement: the bread, pastries and the juices don't match the ambiance of the breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in front of the main square, Hotel Jose Nogueira is the first and only boutique hotel in Punta Arenas, main entrance city to the world known Torres del Paine National Park and the closest city to the Chilean Antarctic Peninsula. Originally the building hosted the home of Mr. Jose Nogueira and his wife, Sara Braun. He gathered a great fortune during the second half of the XIX century. In 1890, he ordered the construction of a splendid mansion in the middle of the center of the city, which, with the passing of time, transformed into one of the symbols of Punta Arenas. The building was declared National Monument is 1982 and 10 years later, it became a small and exclusive hotel. Hotel Jose Nogueira has 22 rooms (17 standard and 5 suites). Our guests are welcome to use the on-site business centre or have a drink at the Shackleton Bar, that owns his name to the honorable voyage realized in the year 1916 by the expeditionary Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
