Very pleasant stay clean, impeccable service pleasant, nice pool area and importantly, cool rooms. Good breakfast. Only criticism i would have is that the chairs at the pool bar are low and uncomfortable. I would stay there again if I am in Douala.
I had a very pleasant stay at Akwa Palace from May 26th to June 7th, 2022. The service was impeccable: Very attentive, polite and courteous staff. I'd like to single out Sylvie at reception. She was exceptional. She was always pleasant, professional, and addressed all issues I had without delay. I had a standard room which was adequate for my needs. The only slight negative was the noise from the air con early in the morning, but that didn't dampen my experience of the hotel. The buffet was great, with wide variety of food, even though I always had puff-puff and fried beans (African delicacy). I'll certainly be staying there again during my visit to Cameroon (as long as the price remains fair) and I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to visit Douala. Thanks to the staff for making my stay very comfortable. Dr Yves Tchapda…
It was my first time at Akwa Palace. Rooms are modern (no carpets! I have no idea why so many place in Africa with the humidity year round still choose carpeting) and functional. Clean, air con was great, location is excellent, downtown, not too noisy inspite of that. Staff is great! So corteous and helpful. Food is very good, with a nice choice from the menu and with a very good breakfast buffet. Definitely would stay there again!
Very nice hotel in the centre, everything about this hotel is great, nice staff and nice pool. The staff here are extra helpful with anything you need and are there 24/7, I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay here in Douala. Again a big thank you to the staff here for making this experience in a new country for me feel like home. 10 out f 10 and shall definitely be back soon.
I was here 5 years ago, and this visit is exactly the same feeling as back then. it is an ok hotel, my room was facing the inner garden, still noisy from some construction. breakfast are quite nice with good variety of food. the pool has a strange color and I would not swim in it. the gym is small and a bit cramped.
Fabulous swimming pool with seating area was the focal point for me. The food served there was exceptional, as was the service. As for the hotel itself, it is a classic property with lots of character and I liked it very much.
I had the pleasure of staying in Akwa Palace for 4 nights in March. The hotel staff are extremely welcoming and attend to your every need. The rooms are large and very comfortable due to recent renovations which is always nice when you're traveling far. The hotel features a beautiful pool area with terrace bar, and a fully equipped gym. Akwa Palace also features a great rooftop breakfast buffet, where you can find great views of Douala. I highly recommend anyone traveling to Douala to stay here as you will be more than comfortable.
This hotel was good especially given I was not expecting much. Given the available options I would happily return to it when staying in Douala On the plus side: -The staff were very friendly and relatively efficient - It has a very good restaurant in Le Tournebroche -The pool bar and pool are decent -The gym, though small was adequate -The rooms were clean and comfortable. On the negative side; - It is relatively expensive for what you are getting -The AC in the room could not be adjusted - Having a key operated room safe (very easy to forget or lose) - The ongoing renovations
A huge hotel with nice receptionists and air-conditioning even though has an old infrastructure. The services, orders at restaurant or room taking too long time to deliver. But I think even these issues, Akwa is the best hotel in the city, close to airport and easy to take the roads.
I like the view of the rooms and location of the Hotel. they have MTN customer service closer to them. They have also ATM Machines to draw money. I have concern about their Room services and house keeping, they always let you feel that they are doing any service as a special case. also, they put a small bottle of water per day which is not sufficient at all,
