Great stay (3 nights) in a brand new hotel, super clean, extra large bed room, Feng shui bath room, large swimming pool, very close from main Angkor site door, in a quite place. Hotel is kept by the manager and his two very nice and caring daughters, all speaking fluent English. Wonderful breakfast as the kitchen is managed by a great cook ( she also takes care of dinner if needed and cooks much better than many downtown restaurants...)

LOCATION Situated halfway between Angor Wat and Siem Reap, this sleepy resort is on a gravel road near a main road. Remotely located, there are some local businesses or residential areas nearby, but nothing orientated to tourists. We chose this accommodation for accessibility to Angor Wat and then moved to town the next day. NO LOBBY There is no lobby. That’s the problem. The “reception” desk is the counter for the dining area. Presentation of the resort is therefore poor, as the lobby is an important area which serves to give a first and lasting impression of the resort, usually with some couches, sofas or chairs for guests to relax. The pool looked ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR, but we had no time to enjoy it. ROOM Rooms are spacious, comfortable and divine! The bed was large and comfortable and having 2 washbasins added to the luxury. The extra third basin in the room would have residual water accumulating in the basin attributed to a design flaw. The bathroom is MASSIVE and the walls are immaculately smothered down so smoothly that the owner deserves special mention. The stone bath reminded me of the sarcophagus I saw at the pyramids, and can easily accommodate 2 people. However, the towels used were of poor quality and thin. Secondly, they use solar power for heating at the resort, and when we returned at 9pm, there was only a little warm water left over, so we had cold baths. Not a comfortable experience. The wardrobe closet is MASSIVE with surplus storage room that one can probably put furniture inside. If bathrobes and slippers were provided, the experience would be escalated and even more delightful and lavish! BREAKFAST 3 options of American, continental and vegetarian on offer. It was simple and filling. STAFF Courteous and polite TOUR Note that because the resort is in a remote area, there are no tuk-tuks on standby. All transportation and tours must be pre-arranged. After picking us up from the bus station, we negotiated a evening tour with the tuk-tuk driver and a full day tour with another driver the next day beginning at 5am for sunrise. In retrospect, I would not begin the tour at 5am, since the temples are only about 4km away and we spent a lot of time in the dark waiting. I would suggest getting more shut-eye and getting picked up 5:30am, or even later. The “standard” sunrise tour starts 5am. SUMMARY Stayed here for Angor Wat sunrise accessibility. With only 8 bungalows, this resort offers privacy, peace and pleasure. Otherwise Siem Reap city is more convenient for the traveler. PROS: washing machine was a bonus and there were no mosquitoes on our visit!

We chose this hotel because of 3 factors: privacy, quick exit/entry and distance to Angkor temples. Stayed 3d2n. Time is of essence - so many temples to see. Hotel's creative layout in one small plot of land: 1-individual villas for couples; 2-villa with connecting doors for family. Spacious, delightful simple decor and room layout. Wood furniture in room. Plenty of plug points in every corner. Wake up to birds chirping in the morning. Walk out to a garden with creepers growing on archways. Well tended garden. Enjoy the sun reflection on the swimming pool at breakfast. Friendly owner and staff. Mr Sokhom, the multitasking hotel staff will always reply to emails. No frills hotel. One word to describe hotel? Simplicity. Great for guests who want to hit the road, early start to Grand Tour, Small Tour and further away temples.

My friend and I stayed a couple of days at Siem Reap and the Green Empire resort was the perfect place during our stay here. Close to the Angkor sites, the staff was very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Spacious bedroom, tasty and large breakfast to start off the day with full energy. A special thanks to our lovely tuk-tuk driver who was so kind enough to pick us up and drive us everywhere in Siem Reap. If you are after a small-size hotel, family-like atmosphere with that local Cambodian touch, the Green Empire resort is the place you need for your stay in Siem Reap!
