I stayed here 3 nights in early March of 2020 in Room 03. I reserved this place prior to my arrival based on its reviews. I arrived via a flight from Singapore and took a taxi from the airport in Siem Reap to the hotel. You have a choice of a tuktuk for $9 or $10 for a taxi. This was the rate given at the airport for rides via each method to anywhere in Siem Reap. I took the taxi. The taxi driver did not quite know where it was but found it eventually. I suspect the ride from the airport is about 20 miinutes. The villa is located on a street that has only light traffic on it. It is a two lane road that you could walk across easily. I felt comfortable on the street and the area. Not crowded like in the Old Town. The place is small but that increases its charm. You walk into the small lobby to check in. You will immediatley notice the swimming pool to the right of the lobby. It looked refreshingly cool and inviting. I did not swim it but it was nice looking at it. On the opposite side of the pool from the lobby is the restaurant\bar area. There are lots of tables of chairs around. it was well mainted and comfortable. I had lots of meals in the restaurant. I had breakfast of an omelette with cheese and ham one morning and pancakes the other morning. Both good. For dinner I had a Hawaiin pizza(really good given it is Cambodia) and another night I had something else. Can not recall what it was but it was good. The pizza with a drink was $9.25 USD altogether. I think I spent about $6-8 for breakfast with orange juice and fruit. I was very happy with the meals. The villa is owned by two Americans(male and female). They appear to be doing a great job with it. It also appears to be popular with the American expats living and working in Siem Reap. I understand some of them are teachers teaching there. Anyway, I saw them I think every night in the bar/restaurant area playing the bar trivia game on the big screen. A very nice atomsphere to relax and talk. I should mention that in Siem Reap everyone is using US currency(bills, not coins) to buy and pay for everything. Cambodian currency is used when under 1 USD. From what I understand Cambodia does not use coins. They are all bills. One Cambodia bill is equivalent to 25 cents. Hence, the bar/restaurant at the villa will give you change that is under 1 USD in Cambodian 1 bills. My room was on the ground level not far from the lobby. It was nice size room of roughly 4 meters by 6 meters or 12 by 16 feets. There was a queen sized bed in the room. There was a small amour in one corner where you could hang your stuff in. not nightstand tables next to the bed but there was a small table in one corner where you could put your things on. Right above it was a LCD TV on the wall. It looked like a 32 inch size one. I did not use it. The floor was hard and looked like a linoleum. I sould mention the room came with an AC unit which did a good job. You have your own climate control. There is also a ceiling fan in the room along with its own speed control. I was very comfortable in the room The bathroom was a slight step up to enter. Similar to others I had seen in SE Asia the shower and toilet and in the same area. It might seem really weird but no weirder than in Iceland where the showers there have no shower door or curtains. There is a sink in there as well. The thought gets a little getting use to but you accept it for what it is. You just make sure you close the lid on the toilet before you take your shower. Beside you come to Cambodia to look around not sit in your bedroom. The ambiance and relaxed atomsphere of the bar/restaurant/pool area made it well worth staying here. The good food and drinks made my stomach happy. Also as I mention the trivia gaming at night was fun. A piece of advice. I suggest asking the villa for suggestions for local guides if you want to get one to tour places or take you around. I took the taxi driver I took from the airport offer to take me around. I regretted it. The villa may know the local people better. If I ever came back to Siem Reap I would certainly come back here. The owers were very nice to me. Certainly for the bar/restaurant. I felt relaxed and slept well here.…
My family and I stayed in this great place and the rooms were clean and pleasant. Great A/C. Beds really comfortable. Tim and Sitha were perfect hosts. The rooms had high ceilings, which I like. The pool and pool area were clean and really nice. One of the best things was that the proprietor owned the Restaurant/Bar right next door, called Star Bar. Great music, they play movies, great happy hour...and it’s right next to the pool! The food was very good western and Khami dishes. And they got the best thin crust pizza in town, I think. We loved our stay at Downtown Siem Reap Villa!
I loved the chill atmosphere and pool. The rooms had everything we needed and the food at the restaurant was great! It was a perfect home base for adventurous days. So great to come back “home” and chill at the bar/pool grab a beer, maybe watch a movie on the big screen and pet Gloria (the cat). The hosts are great and really make you feel at home. The ex-pat bar regulars are fun to meet and will spin a good yarn of their various adventures all over the world and here in Siem Reap. I’m glad we took some time off from our adventures to chill and hang with interesting and lovely people (including Tim and Sitha). Tim hooked us up with a great tuk-tuk driver (Mr. Ty) who took us on many great adventures. ( we even ended up going to his cousins wedding at his village). All in all it hit the perfect note of relaxing, interesting and fun! …
I stayed at Downtown Siem Reap Villa for 6 nights. Right from the start I felt at home. I was greated by one of the owners, Tim, who showed me to my room and immediately moved me to another room (upgraded at no extra cost) to accommodate my needs. I met his wife, Sitha, on my last day. Both are very warm and approachable people who will do everything to make your stay a success. The location of the hotel is brilliant, in a more relaxed area just across the bridge (5 minute walk) from the full frenzie of central Siem Reap. Perfect! The hotel has a lovely pool alongside its restaurant and bar, Star Bar, which has live performances and film showings some evenings. If you like to go to bed early, ask for a room around the back. My room was wonderfully quiet! If you are travelling on a budget, this really is the perfect place for you. Fully recommended! …
We arrived exhausted a found a perfect home. We stayed for 4 nights and loved the room, the pool, the food and the hosts. They took over the place and they are making little changes every day to make it even better. It was a fantastic place and we will come back soon.
