Travelers' Choice
‘Damrei’ in the Khmer language is the word for ‘Elephant’, a creature that played a major role in the ancient Khmer Empire. Damrei Angkor Hotel pays respects to this beautiful beast in and around the hotel. Newly opened in October 2015, this beautiful 54-rooms, 4-stars hotel is perfectly located for visitors to Siem Reap. The magnificent temples at Anchor Archaeological Complex, where you will visit the unforgettable Angkor Wat, are a short, 10-minute tuk tuk ride away. Siem Reap town and its large choice of restaurants, bars and shopping is all a short walk from the hotel, or you can use one of our dedicated, polite tuk tuk drivers. The facilities at the Damrei Angkor Hotel are second-to-none. After a hot, sticky day at the temples, relax by our salt-water swimming pool with a cold beer or a cocktail at the poolside bar. After a busy day shopping in the nearby markets, indulge in one of our many sumptuous Mtes Spa treatments or just relax on the Erawan Terrace. Our Aira Restaurant ca

Pictures give a bit wrong impression: the hotel is in the middle of a crowded side street. Not crowded in a way that there would be noise, but in a way that one is quite surprised the first time taxi turns to the street. However, rooms were good and clean, pool was nice and breakfast was ok. We had an early start to the airport and they gave us breakfast boxes to go. Hotel is well situated in a way that one could also walk home from nearby restaurant and it didn’t take too long to get to the airport and Ankor area.

The property, rooms, and pool were beautiful. We paid $20 for the breakfast having been assured there is a Western breakfast. Then came the "bed." The "mattress" was a hard metal box spring that they laid a duvet over. I lifted the sheets and looked. I could see the steel coils and feel them with my hand. It hurt so badly to lay on the bed, that I almost got on the floor. I should have, maybe i would have slept more than 2 hours. Then we went for our Western Breakfast. Oh. They didn't have any of the food to make that. The manager was not going to give me a full refund (nothing was ordered nor cooked). I had to threaten to call the tourist police for theft to get my money back.

Close enough to the night market and city center, far enough to avoid the noise and bustle when it's time to relax and get ready for the next day. Waking up, grabbing an ice coffee or heading to the spotless pool to start the day - the Damrei never felt "packed" and was always clean. The rooms aren't huge but we never felt like anything was missing, and ended up extending our stay at Damrei for several days. The staff was wonderful, and we found the best pizza only a few doors down the street (I can only eat somlor gaw go and prahoak for so many days). We've stayed at the 5-Star Sokha and the 2-Star guest houses - the Damrei will be our return destination.

Room Tip: We chose a room in the pool area; a "view" wasn't our primary concern.

The hotel is in a quiet location , 10 minutes walk or a $2 tuk tuk ride to the centre . The reception area , restaurant , pool and room were immaculately clean . The restaurant provided an excellent breakfast and a reasonable dinner menu , including local dishes . The staff were so pleasant and obliging it made the stay much more enjoyable . Highly recommended .

Staff were very very kind and always eager to please and incredibly polite. The air con was not great as I had it turned all the way down but the room was still somewhat warm. The restaurant attached was subpar but the service was good
