You don’t just stay at Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang, you partake of a visceral experience that embodies all the senses and transports you back to a true Cambodian village atmosphere; one that is devoid of the noise and frenetic pace of the “Khet” Siem Reap. The feel of this burgeoning province, which can so quickly engulf the avid tourist, is left far behind as you cocoon yourself into the tranquil confines of an oasis like no other in Cambodia. Under-stated luxury beckons guests to unwind and completely recharge after a long day exploring the famous temples of the UNESCO heritage site of Angkor, the principle draw card for many savvy tourists from around the globe. Phum Baitang, “The Green Village” is simplicity with an eye on detail. It has to be experienced and not just read about. The property is comprised of 45 private villas designed to resemble Cambodian houses that are set amongst swaying plantations of verdant lemon-grass. There are two locally-inspired first class restaurants that proffer delicious meal choices that go far beyond the norm for what is considered typical Khmer cuisine. Bay Phsar, “Rice Market” and Hang Bay, “Rice Shop” both serve delicious meals using fresh organic herbs and vegetables from the resort’s own gardens. At the cigar & cocktail lounge one can delight in the pleasure of sipping a location- inspired cocktail while watching the sun slowly set behind the property’s magnificent 50m infinity pool. Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang is the embodiment of the ideal luxury travel destination that we all dream about. Whether young or old, a family or a couple, recent honeymooners embarking on a new life together or a single adventure-seeking traveler, this Cambodian village experience has something to offer all ages. Maybe it is an authentic cookery class for two, or perhaps an afternoon where the children can explore Cambodian culture through interactive games and puzzles, the resort has a plethora of wonderful activities to enrich the mind and engage the senses. For those seeking the relaxing ambiance of a first class wellness center, the Temple Spa truly is a sanctuary within this resort oasis. Seven spa treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, relaxation area as well as a yoga pavilion are all on offer. Therapies based on traditional Khmer rituals or massage techniques such as Tibetan, Swedish or Ayurvedic can all be performed by highly trained therapists. This ultimate luxury retreat nestled peacefully just a short drive from Siem Reaps’ international airport is bound to become one of the premier hotel destinations in Cambodia. As Leonardo da Vinci so aptly said six centuries ago, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. This adage is reflected in all of the architectural and interior design details of Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang and certainly underpins this new development from Zannier Hotels.

I have never been compelled to write a review for a hotel that I have stayed at, up until our recent visit to Siem Reap. We spent the first 4 nights of our honeymoon at Phum Baiting and it is not possible to describe how brilliant the hotel is. The grounds and villas themselves (we stayed in a private pool villa) were immaculate and cared for by an army of staff who have a permanent smile on their face. We were welcomed in each of the 3 bars/restaurants as if we were family and each member of staff ensured we had everything we could possibly need. The food was excellent, including the complimentary tasting menu laid on for Christmas Day which showcased some of the most wonderful South East Asian food I've ever eaten.

The hotel guest book states: 'simplicity is the ultimate sophistication' and the staff at Phum Baiting have achieved this to perfection. A huge thank you to all the staff for making the start to our trip, as special as we could have hoped for. Without question, we will be back.

The hotel is set amongst lush green rice paddies and the rooms are well decorated with fine fixtures and fittings. The shower is great and the bed comfy.

The staff are unbelievably warm and friendly from those on the reception to the restaurants to the hotel manager. Lin was the pick, always looking to help where he could.

Few niggles like charging $5 for bottles of filtered water at dinner (same as ones given in the room) and the food/drinks felt over priced even by Singapore hotel/restaurant standards. The food in the hotel was good but generally unremarkable. We much preferred the options in town. Breakfast spread was plentiful and the eggs Benedict tasty.

We also booked our own tours as those organised by the hotel were four times the price of options available outside. We booked Sam (see other review) and that worked perfectly.

An absolute gem in Siem Reap. Rooms consist of individual bungalows set amid groomed rice paddies where buffalo roam. Two restaurants on either side of the property include a casual option by the pool and a more formal option. Both are excellent. There's also a cigar bar perched on stilts that is the perfect place to take in a sunset. The pool and cigar bar are great spots to relax after a day tramping around the temples. It's about a 10 minute tuk tuk ride into Siem Reap, but there is always one waiting just outside the hotel.

Where to begin? Our stay at Phum Baitang immediately transformed the way we see Cambodia. We stayed at a private pool villa and loved every second. From the short way on a provided bike through the tranquil rice fields on the way to breakfast, to sunset drinks in the Cigar lounge - everything was just perfect. Speaking of breakfast: AMAZING!! A very high quality buffet and also a la carte menu that leaves no cravings unfulfilled. The egg benedict was beyond. A big plus is that we were always given complimentary water in a glass bottle (both at the pool and in the room), which shows the hotel's effort in being sustainable. This and supporting local farmers and businesses.
Besides the insanely beautiful premises and delicious food, it was the service of the employees that made us feel at home. Saermom remembered our breakfast preferences every morning and all the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful.

All in all, we highly recommend to stay at Phum Baitang, this is an experience you will never forget.

We had a wonderful stay at Phum Baitang with our 10 month old baby.

The staff went out of their way to make our experience as enjoyable as possible and we were greeted with a smile everywhere we went which made the experience extremely memorable. Nothing was too much effort and everyone was genuine, caring and helpful.

The rooms are full of rustic charm using natural wood flooring and organic textures. The way the windows frames the tropical leaves was very aesthetically pleasing.

We found the pool villa to be worth the extra money as it allowed us to relax both there and at the main pool alternately. We also took advantage of the babysitting service that was offered.

The sunset bar was not to be missed either - one of the most relaxing spots I can remember being in. It is abuzz with the sounds of nature and it feels like being transported back 100 years.

The food was extraordinary as well - the pork ribs and rice dumplings for dessert were particularly memorable. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable time - made possible by the excellent staff.

The property features gorgeous grounds, with manicured rice fields, beautiful wooden houses, great pool and good breakfast and lunch. Pool villa is not worth the extra money as room is the same as a regular villa and plunge pool is cold. Spa is very nice, fitness room is small but has everything. Cocktails were fantastic last year but were disappointing this year. Dinner was very average. The property is pretty far out of town and the hotel charges $30 to get into town (more than what a NY taxi would cost for the same distance) . There should be free shuttles to town especially given the cost of the rooms.

Dear MHM135, Thank you for taking your time to write a review of Phum Baitang. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed with our gorgeous grounds, rice fields, the villa, infinity pool, breakfast and lunch. However, we regret that your expectations were not met in other areas. For what concerned cocktail and dinner, we have addressed your feedback with our Food & Beverage Manager to see where could be improved. Our property is located about 4km away from Siem Reap down town and most of our guests love to take Tuk Tuk as transportation to get there and this will only costs them USD5 per Tuk Tuk per way. Alternatively and as the matter of comfort, hotel also provides transportation by SUV car and or mini van. The charge at USD30 was for mini van that is normally required for a group of more than 4 people. As mentioned, the hotel did not provide free shuttles to town, however we provide free round trip transfer from and to the airport. We look forward to the possibly welcoming you back in the future. Yours sincerely, Phirith Suos Executive Assistant Manager

We stayed here for five nights visiting the temples. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The chalets are well appointed and very comfortable.
The food is good, but not exceptional, with a very limited choice on the menus of the two restaurants. After the first days we had pretty much exhausted all the choices.
Once you add 10% & 10% the food & beverage prices are on the high side.
The real problem for light sleepers is that it is right under the airport flight path and there are quite a lot of night flights in and out of Siem Reap.

A beautiful slice of bliss and peace amongst the chaos of Siem Reap!

The rooms are gorgeous, very spacious and well appointed with a large deck area and really good aircon. You get supplied with heaps of drinking water every day, and there are really high quality soaps, hair, lotion and bath products provided.

The hotel grounds are a tropical oasis with the rice paddies being a great feature - even though a few were empty mud ponds when we were there, it was great getting to see the buffalo plow the areas and the staff plant the rice.

Breakfast is fully inclusive and really good, one of the best we've had during our travels.

The pool area is fabulous, lots of shade and plenty of sunbeds. The staff are so friendly and extremely attentive. We were blown away by the attention to detail from the housekeeping staff, they even folded any stray clothes and ordered all our toiletries!

They have tuk tuks on demand at any time, $5 USD each way to get in and out of Siem Reap, ask for Fish Man and Sam, they were the best drivers and were happy to literally be your private drivers for the day if required (we were a group of six, so needed two tuk tuks). The resort is only about 10 minutes in a tuk tuk from town (but I wouldn't recommend walking, the road in is poorly lit and opens onto a big, busy main road).

My only con is that the restaurant and bar offerings are horribly overpriced. Do yourself a favour and get in those tuk tuks, go try some of the local restaurants and markets - a beer is usually around $1USD in town, compared to $7USD at the resort, and you can get authentic Khmer food for a fraction of the price that the Zannier offers. You can get great cocktails in Siem Reap for $2-3USD, whereas Zannier charges $18USD and up. That also goes for massages and tour bookings, extremely expensive compared to local providers (which are also very easy to book yourself).

Overall, an amazing place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would recommend to anyone wanting a touch of luxury on their Cambodian adventure!

An excellent hotel in stunning grounds. We arrived very late at night and check in was friendly, quick and efficient. A nice touch was a light snack left in the room as we had missed dinner.

The cabin was beautiful. There is a great sense of privacy and we had a cabin with private pool. The large room had lots of storage, a very large comfortable bed, a sofa and a very large bathroom with tub and shower. Lots of hot water and plenty of towels.

Aircon was very good and much needed as it was very hot when we visited.

Excellent standard of housekeeping with an evening turn down service timed to be done when the staff know you are out of the room.

The grounds are a delight with paddy fields, contented water buffalo and lovely landscaping.

Breakfast is served in the stylish poolside restaurant. An excellent buffet with dishes cooked to order. We enjoyed the delicious juices and teas and plentiful fruit selection.

Dinner was either at the poolside restaurant or the more expensive main restaurant depending on the night of the week. We preferred the more relaxed feel of the poolside restaurant. You ned to have on plenty of insect repellant for being outside in the evening and the additional citronella spays provided were appreciated. A thought for management is to have these in the rooms as well.

A special word for the lovely staff throughout. Without exception the staff were friendly and polite especially those in the restaurant. It was good to find out that the hotel recruits from the local community.

Siem Reap is c 10 minutes by tuk tuk. Angkor Wat is around 20 minutes by car and the airport 10 minutes by car.

The hotel isn't cheap but luxury of this standard comes at a price.

Highly recommended for Siem Reap.

My husband and I were fortunate to stay for five nights at Phum Baitang in January. We drove in from the airport on some of the worst roads I've ever been on and arrived at the gate of the hotel. Once past, we drove into a landscape of rice paddies and little huts dotted throughout the property. We were skeptical. But once checked in and taken to our own hut complete with private plunge pool, we understood what everyone was talking about. Our hut was serene and minimalist but contained everything we could want for a tranquil, zen-like stay. Dinner the first night wasat Hang Bay where the staff was absolutely amazing. Our server, Phan May, was delightful and brought out fresh, delicious dishes that we found were prepared by chef Kimchhoeung. We enjoyed many of his dishes throughout our stay and he even gave us two of our favorite recipes: his stir fried squid and his breakfast chicken porridge. I can't say enough about all the staff there. They were warm and caring and went out of their way to make us completely comfortable. We enjoyed inventive drinks made with lemongrass and fresh grapefruit every evening at the cocktail lounge while watching the sunset. We also enjoyed the spa where we had two of the best massages we've ever had. We would stay again without hesitation. It is a completely different experience than any other resort we've ever stayed in and it's located close enough to the temples and to downtown but far enough away that you don't know they're there.

Sorry for the late reply, we have Rice fields growing all Year long, of course there are three months a Year (we do three harvest) were the paddies are empty, still it is possible during that time to see the buffaloes at work ploughing them, the gardeners are spreading the compost, following transplanting manually the little new plants of rice. We try to privilege the high season in having the rice paddies full, still we can not oblige Nature to follow our wills! At this moment we finished few days ago the transplanting, as such by December we should have all paddies grown and looking green, by the end of December we should start seeing the first rice kernels and by end of January beginning of February we will do next harvest. As said all this depends on how Nature will treat us! Hope I have answer your question

It takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes by Tuk Tuk or car. You could walk it however at night it would not be advisable as the road is quite dark with limited lighting. Kind regards, Colin Bryan General Manager

Dear Talha K, Thank you for your question. Yes your rooming request is possible. (2 plus 2 is the standard setup). I would propose king size bed for you and your husband, extra bed and use of the sofa bed for your children aged 5 and 6 and we could perhaps even add a cot for your 1 year old or, as you suggest, the child could sleep with you. We have a fully manned children's club with lots of activities for children. We can also provide babysitting for your children should you require this service. Should you have any further questions we are only too happy to assist. Kind regards, Colin Bryan Resort Manager

Thank you for your question. Living here in Siem Reap and working at Phum Baitang I think all year round is a good time to visit Cambodia and in particular Siem Reap but then I may be a little biased. Let me address your question by splitting the year into months in quarters…….. The best time to visit Siem Reap is January for most people as this is one of the coolest months of the year and it is also dry season. During January the skies are clear most days so it perfect for sunrises and sunsets. February, like January is probably the busiest month of the year in Siem Reap as it is high season. The weather in Siem Reap during February is near perfect as the climate is cool, the skies are blue and the sunrises and sunsets are amazing most days. Of course, because it is high season, there are many tourists at this time of year at the Angkor temples. The weather in March is very pleasant and I would recommend March as one of the best times of year to visit Cambodia. The climate in Siem Reap is quite cool most days. The weather in April can be very hot and humid with the climate a bit unpleasant at times. However, April is a good time to visit the Angkor temples as it is generally much quieter during this time of year. The Khmer New Year also falls in this month if you would like to join in some New Year celebrations. May is a good month to visit Siem Reap as it is much quieter than most other months. The climate in May is quite warm but with a bit of careful planning you can have a really good time. May is also the beginning of the rainy season but there is normally little rain during this time of year and when it does rain it is normally in the late afternoons or early mornings. May is the start of the rice planting season in Cambodia but at Phum Baitang we plant and harvest rice all year round. June in Siem Reap is quite warm and the rainy season has started in earnest. Even though June is part of the rainy season it is a good time to visit Siem Reap. The weather is not very hot as the few showers Siem Reap get generally cool the air to make it a more pleasant climate. June is also a great time to visit Siem Reap as the Angkor temples see fewer visitors at this time of year. One of the best times of year to visit Siem Reap is July as the weather is not very hot and the rain is normally in the evenings or during the night. July is a popular month for visiting Siem Reap for many families as this is a time when many schools are on holiday. Another good time to visit Cambodia is during the month of August. The weather is not very hot and the rainy season is not fully upon us but the landscapes are starting to look very green. August is a good month to visit the Angkor temples if you want to keep away from the big crowds of high season. There is more rain in August than there is in July but the rain is normally during the night or late afternoons. September is one of the wettest months in Cambodia but do not let it put you are off visiting Siem Reap. During September the vegetation is lush and green and the Angkor temples are so peaceful. October is cool and wet with day temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees celsius. October is one of the wettest months of the year so a light rain coat is advised, because it can rain at anytime, although it normally starts around 4pm. Strong trainer type shoes with a good grip are also recommended for climbing the temples as the stone is often wet and slippery. October is one of the nicest months of the year for scenery especially if you are interested in photography, as this is when the countryside is lush and green with rice fields stretching for miles. The weather in Siem Reap during November is very pleasant as the rains have almost stopped the blue skies are starting to appear and the weather is cooler. One of the best times to visit Siem Reap is during November as the weather is almost perfect and the sunrises and sunsets are generally pretty good. November is still the start of the high season so the Angkor temples are not busy like January and February. November is normally the month that the Cambodian Water festival is held where you will see boat races in Siem Reap. The best time to visit Cambodia is early to mid December as everything is perfect. The weather in Siem Reap is cool and dry with blue skies. The sunrises and sunsets during December are normally very good every day there are not so many tourists around the Angkor temples. Do you have a room for a family with 3 teenagers (11, 14, 15)? Or will we need two separate rooms?

Dear Helen B, Thank you for your question. Our usual maximum setup per villa is 2 plus 2. Two adults and two children however it really depends on the age of the children. We do have a few dedicated twin villas to which a third bed can be added. A king bed villa can also be split into what we refer to as a "Hollywood twin" and then a third bed can also be added. In both scenarios the forth person could be accommodated on the sofa, which can also be transformed into a comfortable bed. For a husband and wife with three teenage children I would propose a Pool Villa for the parents and a Terrace Villa with twin set-up plus an additional bed, for the teenagers. For advice on your specific sleeping requirements or arrangements please do not hesitate to contact our reservations department via email. Contact details are provided via our website. Kind regards Colin Bryan Resort Manager
