Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique and Resort is lauded for its ample amenities, including a well-received pool, sumptuous breakfast choices, a pampering on-site spa, and admirable cleanliness. While some guests find the rooms spacious and tidy, others point to less comfortable beds and outdated bathrooms.
The staff is universally acclaimed for their exceptional service and warm hospitality. Opinions on value and the hotel's star rating are mixed, though the tranquil atmosphere and prime, yet peaceful location near key attractions are widely celebrated.

Location: close to the airport (10-15 minute drive) and a walking distance to the Cambodian national museum and river and old market.
Staff: Friendly and helpful especially Mr. Vin. He helped us plan trips, gave advice, secured transportation, and facilitated a late check-out for a reasonable extra charge.
Food: breakfast buffet is good, egg and soup stand, soup of the day, vegetables, ham, cheese, corn flakes, jams, fruits and other desserts. A la carte menu is also good. Check out their palm café, they have a happy hour between 4-7 pm 2 for 1 drinks and a 25% off the food. 50% off the cakes.
The room service food was also good. The Khmer fresh hand rolls are delicious and the Chhar noodles lovely, try them out, you will not regret. The fruit platter is more of a small plate, so don’t expect a generous quantity.
Rooms: spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The water heat keeps fluctuating and pressure is medium, but apart from that beds are comfortable, good hairdryer; safe, and excellent laundry service for a very reasonable price. I was even offered a 25% discount on my laundry bill. No view from the small balcony though, it appeared we had a public building perhaps a school facing us. We were on second floor, but I suggest you to aim for first floor as you will have direct access to the swimming pool.
Swimming pool: very nice large pool and nicely kept. Only downside is that it closes at 8 pm. The atmosphere inside the hotel does make you want to swim at night often times, but not possible.
Overall, great hotel with friendly staff.

This hotel is excellent. The staff were friendly and obliging in every way and the food of a high standard. On the morning we went for the Angkor Wat sunrise, they also provided us with good breakfast boxes. The pool is also nice to lounge around and swim in and everything is clean and in good working order in the hotel. It's also in a very central location and easy to walk anyway, saving you time and money on tuk tuk or taxis. Highly recommended.

Upon arrival we got offered a beautiful room on 2nd floor, which however was facing a road crossing. We asked to change and half an hour later we had a Garden Room (007), which had a terrace towards a garden, was absolutely quiet, large and comfortable. Particularly Ms Seng Siphon was all the time extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was delicious! For other meals we went outside...

I was happy with Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique & Resort as they gave me 2x free airport transfers, which is generous considering most other hotels only offer 1x free airport transfer.
The first day I arrived, I went straight out for sightseeing and upon my return, the check in was swift. The room has a rather colonial style with dark furnitures, creating a rather dark atmosphere. I personally don't have any issues with this, but some people might do. Other than that, the bed was hard, which I also personally like but can be an issue for some people.
Staff was very nice and friendly, but I was a disappointed when a friend of mine - who happened to be Siem Reap as well at that time - wanted to see my room. He was not allowed to go to my room as the hotel apparently has a policy of not allowing anyone other than the checked in names to enter a room even for just 5 minutes. When I asked what the reason was, the staff mentioned that it was for the guest's safety. He told me that I would have to pay for 1 night price of an additional guest. When I insisted that it was only for a 5 minute visit to view the room, I had to sign a statement saying that my guest would not stay overnight and the visit was only brief.
Breakfast was good (quality wise), but the food selection was not as extensive as I had expected. I ordered room service once and the quality and presentation of the food was very nice. Price wise, it was roughly the same as restaurants around the area.
If you are looking for a restaurant around the area, I would personally recommend Jomnam Kitchen, which is around 7 minutes away on foot. Otherwise, you can also explore Pub Street, which is around 10 minutes away on foot.
Convenience store is located around 5 minutes away on foot (close to Jomnam Kitchen) and they accept US Dollars as mean of payment.
Overall, the hotel was nice but the policy might need some changes

Dear hisgorgeousness, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review following your stay with us in Jun 2019. Constructive feedback is always welcome at Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique& Resort. I’m pleased however to receive your feedback on the good location of our hotel, and you found our staff was very nice and friendly. Thank you for your feedback on the extra charge of someone who visited you in your room. To be clear, and in my regular communications with my colleagues, in other international standard hotels within Siem Reap, All hotels do charge, and they do charge for Lady Joiner. We do as this relates to charges for a second person, with breakfast and increased expenses of room amenities. However, I have checked the report on your stay in Jun 2019 and found that you have brought your friend to your room late night and our staff told you about extra charges, but you refused to pay. Then our staff have requested you to fill out the security form only not charged, furthermore our staff does take a copy of the official ID of your friend for registration record, this is do for security reasons only and I hope this clarifies the situation. I am sorry that you did not find your experience with us at Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique& Resort as enjoyable as others on this site did but I would like to thank for your feedback. Yours sincerely, Sethya Nhong General Manager

Overall this hotel was disappointing! Mainly because of unfriendly and uncaring front desk staff and overcharged. The layout of the hotel is not great, the rooms that face the main street are HORRIBLE, noisy, no privacy whatsoever, zero noise insulation, impossible to sleep. We had to insist with resistant staff on changing rooms to one located by the pool to be able to sleep without street and traffic noise all night (even though the hotel was half empty). The beds are hard and not comfortable, although the rooms are spacious. Redeeming aspect was breakfast which is fantastic with huge choices. We were way overcharged for a terrible couple's massage - charged 10 times the price than we had paid in town in a local mid-range priced spa. Location is not all that good either. We would not stay here again, especially considering Siem Reap has such an extensive choice of lovely boutique hotels.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, but I really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. In Siem Reap, our hotel location is the best in town. it located on the main street downtown where guests can access to market, or tourist attractions areas or pub street within walking distance. Where we are in the main street downtown, of course there will be busy traffic. We're happy to change room for you if you dont like city view room. Even though we were not running full house but room would be assigned according to your booking reference. All services prices are placed up front. No overcharge and it's not comparable the services in hotel to local street shop. Again, thank you for letting us know about this. We are looking into this issue and hope to resolve it promptly and accurately.” best regards, Ryan, General Manager

After a friendly welcome at at around 8.30pm we were taken into a lounge for a drink. Dimly lit and no one around.
We were then shown to our room. Clean, but something like a 1970's motel.
I went to get some drinks to take up to the room. Again no one around and everything shut.
We were visiting Siem Reap for 4 nights but immediately wanted to move hotels as there are many good ones in Siem Reap.
We lasted 1 night. Bed was rock hard as were the pillows, which were old and lumpy.
At breakfast we were the only Western guests. Everyone was Asian and the buffet catered mainly for their Asian clients.
The staff were scruffy in creased uniforms and had the too button of shirts undone.
Fortunately we managed to move, at extra cost, to a much nicer hotel in Siem Reap.

Dear 853RichardW, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique& Resort. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. I noted that you rated the room, our staff and services very low in particular and I was hugely disappointed to note that we didn't live up to your expectations. We work hard to make each and every guest's stay special at our Hotel and we have been honoured to receive many comments from guests about the rooms, friendliness and genuine warmth of every member of my team and I'm sorry to note you did not have this same impression on this occasion. Your feedback is most appreciated and please rest assured that we have taken your comments very much on board. Please also feel free to contact me personally on gm@somadeviangkorboutique.com at any time to discuss your stay further with me. My kindest regards, Sethya Nhong General Manager

Quiet hotel with luxury feel. Modern decor and amazing pool. Guests are invited to enjoy the pool without making too much noise, which is great, so you can truly relax. Stayed 3 nights with family (2 rooms next to each other). Hotel staff all courteous, happy and most helpful. We felt welcomed. Hotel spa was great value. Happy hour at the pool and also in the lobby lounge/bar, delicious cocktails! Enough variety at breakfast. Hotel suitable for family with older kids >8 years, but ok if you have well behaved younger kids.
Close enough to walk to pub street (10-12 mins) and to restaurants (5 mins) along the river. Had laundry done around the corner, washed dried and folded all done in an hour at a very cheap price.
Hotel staff helped organise to see Phare, the Cambodia circus - a must see. Everyone loved it!
Walking distance to The King’s palace, and National museum: a fantastic place to visit help understand the history of the temples.

We came here just after Covid restrictions had lifted and got literally the best service ever. Check in was easy and our room was huge, cool and lovely. Tastefully furnished, enough space for everything yet also minimalist. The staff are lovely (huge shout out to the lovely individual running breakfast who was so polite!) Breakfast was good, catering to Western and Eastern tastes. Pool area very nice. We liked the area, although not dead central. Opposite there is a lovely restaurant called Kim Heung restaurant that serves local dishes tailored to your tastes for 3 USD and pure juices for 1.50. Can not praise the hotel enough.

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. I was not expecting much given the price that we paid. However when we checked-in...the hotel, room and the ambiance was worth more than what we paid for. The location is also walking distance to pub street, river promenade, old market etc. No need to rent a tuktuk to go around the city. In front of the hotel is the best pho noodle soup that I have ever tried for 2-2.5 USD only. Also don't forget to visit the Old Market for the traditional desserts with sweetened coconut milk 1-2 USD.

Well-situated in the heart of Siem Reap - walking distance to Pub Street and the River and a lot of places (cheaper) to eat at just right across made it very convenient. The room is bigger than expected and the breakfast spread is just right. The staff is also very warm and accommodating and gave us a tip to go buy our tickets for Angkor Wat on the afternoon we arrived and go straight to the complex to see the sunset in case the weather turns the next day. All in all wonderful stay that exceeded expectations!
