Pros:
• Hugely spacious comfortable room
• Excellent restaurant with fantastic buffet breakfast
• Large swimming pool in a large courtyard
• Friendly service
• Very good price/quality
Cons
• Really found nothing negative…
We stayed here for 2 nights and booked a “deluxe room” on the booking.com website in January for 126us$ (120€) per night: cancelable, all taxes included and with breakfast for 2. We stayed here for the first time. 2006 when the hotel had only just opened.
The hotel is located in the center of Siem Reap with Pub Street within a 500 meter walk. Shop for drinks and other items 150 meters away. It is a large class hotel with 4 floors built in a U-shape around the large courtyard with a beautiful large swimming pool. The rooms overlooking the courtyard are of the more expensive type with a balcony, the standard rooms on the outside have a view of the city and no balcony.
Our standard deluxe room 345 with a view of the large driveway was very spacious (+-38m²) with a good and SUPER wide bed (2.40m wide and rarely seen) with beautiful parquet flooring. Good air conditioning, medium-sized flat screen TV, WiFi, coffee and tea. The spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and enormous bath is very comfortable with bathrobes and slippers. The room layout is perfect and really very comfortable. Good blackout curtains.
The breakfast buffet in the restaurant (closed or open air) was very extensive with a wide choice of sandwiches, cheese, charcuterie, even an egg station and bacon.
Landscaped garden with large pool (slightly salted water) and many good sun loungers.
Some practical information early 2024:
The new airport since October 2023 is located 55km from Siem Reap. Taxi from airport $35, airport bus $8/pp (75 minutes drive, see photo for schedule)
Entrance to Angkor temples: 37$/pp for one day, 62$/pp for 3 days to be taken within 10 days of purchase.
There are always tuktuk drivers in front of the hotel. Price for 8 hours tour to temples 18-20$ per tuk tuk for 2-4 people. Further temples such as Banteay Srei (40km one way) 25-30$ for 8 hours. On the first day, the tuktuk driver drives to the place where the tickets are sold (don't forget your passport)... he will help you with that. Make sure you always have this entrance ticket with you because it is regularly checked.

Stayed here from the end of December to the first week in January, weather was fantastic no rain at all for the entire time we were here. We had plans to do a trip every other day and sunbath on days off, due to the 4 story sides around the pool you don’t get full sun it’s about 6hours from 9am to 3 still got a nice tan but you might want to know. The pool was quiet and cold (refreshing) the breakfast was great had everything you could want & restaurant bar food were good, we didn’t try the Japanese as the everything was so much cheaper to eat off site drinks and food here are expensive probably why they were never busy.
Staff were all very polite, helpful and always smiling the hotel was always clean a tidy, rooms were cleaned every day with good amenities all except for woman’s hair products my wife told me as it doesn’t effect me, lol wasn’t enough water provided in the rooms I thought but it has a fridge and it’s very cheap to fill it up from 7-11
Spa was very good value and professional, we did think the drivers prices for airport run and day trips were expensive but they were convenient perhaps do some research if you want to save some money. This hotel does have a great location $3-4 tuk tuk to pub street which was incredible NYE the hotel did do something and was busy but we didn’t come here for that. All in all had a fantastic stay had small issues I mentioned but nothing to worry about, would I stay again probably not I’d look nearer pub street but there’s nothing wrong with this hotel, just my preference.

Upon arrival with a group of more than 30 people, we received a warm and friendly welcome at the hotel in a beautiful hall. Receive the room key immediately. The hotel room was, just like the communal rooms where we stayed, spotless and cool with well-functioning air conditioning, fully equipped and it had a spacious double bed and a balcony overlooking a beautiful garden and swimming pool. When we arrived downstairs there was an excellent dinner buffet and we were helped by friendly staff.
The next day at 6 a.m. a great breakfast with a wide choice. In the evening, a dinner in the garden exclusively for our group with live music and traditional dances. The staff continuously did their utmost to make us happy, which was a success. The only downside was that the corridors to the hotel rooms were a bit warm. But I understood that...
I can highly recommend this hotel
Sokha Angkor Resort is a hotel that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Great hotel, not only in size, but in quality. Immense hall that already gives you an idea of what the rooms will be like, very luxurious. Beautiful quality wooden floors. The bed, giant, with a pillow menu. The breakfast, very varied, with live food and a wide range of all kinds of fruits, sweets, savory and an oriental corner of Khmel and Asian food.
The bathroom, with a built-in shower and bathtub, is very large and well stocked with amenities. The only drawback is that the lighting is a bit poor for applying makeup.
The pool area is a delight, with sun loungers and towels. And the pool, wonderful, with waterfalls and very spacious and beautiful.
The hotel is very close to the bar and shopping area known as "Pub Street" and you can walk there without any problem in 5 minutes.
Opposite there is a supermarket that has a wide assortment of all kinds of products, including Spanish wine, which was a surprise.
We loved it and highly recommend it. I understand that after the pandemic and with the drop in Chinese tourism it is at a low level, but it is very good and they upgraded our room, with views of the pool.
Thanks to the staff, everyone is very friendly.
The only neglected area we found was in the pool shower area, which you can use as a courtesy bathroom the day you leave the room: there are no towels or gel available. And it's kind of soulless and poorly cared for.

Amazing. Awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! We came 3 hours early (during off tourist season) and they checked us in and took us to our room immediately. They gave us a free 15 min foot massage, which we added to our “happy hour 60 min massage” ($30USD).. it was heavenly. They had the most wonderful, helpful staff members anywhere you went in the hotel. The pool was beautiful and incredible. We went every day we were there. You get so much more for what you pay for in USD here. My mom and I felt like royalty!! Thank you so much Sokha Angkor Resort, you are the best!

It was a beautiful and well-equipped hotel that I couldn't believe was in Cambodia. There was a pool, even though it was Angkor Wat, and the salt water made it comfortable to float in. There were separate steam saunas, saunas, jacuzzis, and cold baths for men and women, which I was impressed with. (You could use them for free even after checking out.)
The staff were very attentive, so I was able to stay there without worry.
There was a 24-hour convenience store? supermarket? nearby, which was convenient.

When you visit a 5-star hotel, you expect superior conditions and services, at the very least.
This hotel is much closer to being a 3-star hotel than a “luxury” hotel.
One comes to these places looking for relaxation, and not a group of elderly retired gentlemen occupying the pool 12 hours a day, and then making a racket on the terrace until the wee hours of the morning.
If I wanted a tour operator hotel with an open bar I would have looked for one.
Also, the breakfast is probably the poorest we have had in Asia, and clearly far from a supposed 5 star breakfast.
The rooms lack soundproofing, and smell musty like the rest of the hotel.
The gym, also very old, and most of the machines were not working properly.
Not to mention, the hotel URGENTLY needs an update to its facilities. The entire hotel exudes the appearance of having lived through better years.

The hotel rooms are clean, but the windows and corners of the restaurant and lobby aren't. Dead flies and spiders on the window frames, also lots of dust.
Can't say it's earned 5-star status during our stay.
The rooms are furnished very differently, our friend had a couch and bigger (working) TV, even though we booked the same rooms.
During breakfast, the service was very scarce. We had to find kitchen staff and waiters to order coffee and refill empty plates from the breakfast buffet.
All in all it had very few staff around. The pool area wasn't serviced by anyone (lifeguard, waiter).
The spa was simply closed of, also the other
The fitness machines are in very bad condition, not working properly and had no power to operate them.
There was no working AC and the drinking water was hot.
I expected a lot more service, open facilities and better conditions.

What a beautiful hotel in a great location!
Staff and service here are excellent, along with fantastic food from a very talented kitchen (the Cambodian specialties were delicious). Our room was very nice, with a balcony overlooking gardens in the center of the property.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the courtyard accompanied by an excellent dance troupe performing traditional Cambodian dances. There's a huge and very enjoyable breakfast buffet on offer -- don't miss it.
The hotel is in an excellent location, with easy walking distance to the small river that flows through the city. A beautiful park is also within a 5-minute walk.
If you're planning a trip to Angkor Wat, this would be an excellent place to stay.

Dear JMEL,
Thank you for your question, We don't have kids club.
I believe you can!
Yes it is, there is a small market on the nearest corner. Walking to the restaurant district or pub street takes maybe 15-20 minutes, or you can use the hotels tuk-tuk service, that costs 2$.
Pool view rooms have balconies, the rest don't. However they are very spacious and well maintained.
Like AJU S, our booking provided a free airport pickup, but we paid for a driver to take us back out. Our driver, Mr Songhsam, was great and we were more than happy to give him the work, and provide a well-earned tip. Enjoy your stay.
