Our family stayed at the City Angkor for four nights during January 2006. For the most part, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Siem Reap.
One of the highlights was the restaurant with its beautiful buffet breakfasts offering a huge range of Khmer and western cuisines. Lunch was also delicious and reasonably priced at around US$4.50 per main. However beware of the credit card surcharge!
The service was good at all times with kind and curteous staff, aside from occasional language barriers. Our rooms were well appointed with 3 single beds in each and working air conditioning and TV, with free bottled water provided.
The pool was also very nice but the gardens a little inaccesible due to mosquitoes.
In terms of travel to the town, a Tuk Tuk will cost about US$2 - it is not that far to walk however footpaths are very basic and you will be confronted by Tuk Tuk drivers very often.

It was not bad as I have read in the reviews. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and I was truly amazed by the beautiful antique designed lobby. We got two superior rooms and both were spacious and equipped with wifi, sockets, tv with 69 or so cable channels (which I enjoyed much as I get to watch my fave korean dramas ^-^),bathroom is clean, and beds are really comfortable. My fave spot is the pool! We had the chance to enjoy the water while capturing bonding moments with my sisses. Buffet breakfast was sumptuous but I still crave for my fave pinoy pandesal. :-) To sum it up, my stay here was really fun and worthwhile and I wish I could go back here someday.

The room is clean enough, but the furnitures, TV etc. are all second-hand. Beds are a bit too soft. Foot massage is very good, and you can get a 10% discount if you're traveling with a group. Just don't forget to ask for discount. Oh, btw, male receptionists turned out to be bad and maths. :p

The worst hotels ever. We booked a room here for 3 person in 2 nights. The room has a very bad-smelled. The wifi internet in the room's very bad, we rarely can connect it. You only can use wifi in the lobby with the slow speed. And the most disappointed thing is the staff service. In the second night, we found out that there was a MOUSE in our room and he also ate our instant noodle cups on the table! But when we showed the noodle cups to the hotel's reception in the next morning check out, they said that we were liars, that their hotel didn't have mouse and we just made up this story for a refund from them! What the...?! They also didn't give any apology about it. Luckily, this was our last day in that hotel, can't stand it anymore. We'll never return or recommend this hotel!

Want to know and experienced the history of Cambodia, you must stay on this hotel The City Angkor Hotel. After the intensified peace order in the country in 1989 the family owned hotel was established and became popular as one of the first hotel in Siem Reap. The hotel is just few minutes away from the International Airport and accessible for “tuk-tuk” to explore the city.
CAH is having a wonderful architecture, I love wood carving… the rooms are very spacious and very much appropriate for family and group, the 3 beds idea is so much practical. The landscape is fantastic perfect venue for Christmas and New Years Eve, Angkor Wat stage and the breezes of waterfalls and a fountain awaits you!
Bon appetite… the food is amazing neither it is local or international, Chef is very proud that Royalties patronizes his style and flavors. I missed now the food variety of the lunch they served to us…. Yummy!
Atmosphere, cleanliness and hospitality service are all great. Mr. Wichai (GM) & Mr. Nam (OM) was very hospitable and always showed concerned in every detail. Carry on and best of luck always! 3 THAI + 1 PINAY, Nov 3, 2011

The City Angkor Hotel was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are very old, the walls, the shower, the floor are dirty. It's relative noisy as the hotel is located directy at a very busy road. Wifi was not available in our room, we had to go to the lobby. The service was under average as the staff was unfriendly to us.

We had several Cockroaches in the room. Our group has booked 3 rooms, 2 out of 3 had this problem.

I really cannot recomment this hotel.

Dear Mr. Sven M., Thank you for having taken the time to post a review. Your feedback is very important and valuable for us. I do apologize for this to have failed while you were staying with us and that we not have a chance to address at least some of the issues. We continue to renovate our rooms starting from April this year, to make sure that rooms are clean and up to the standard. And this is including the pest control systems are also in place. Regarding the noise issue, actually this is the quiet area in Siem Reap if compare to the center where you have all pubs and bars around. WiFi is sometimes have poor reception which may caused by bad weather at that time. We have noted the service standard of our staff and appropriated action had been taken. The service was outstanding especially Mr Ny in the restaurant and the people at the front desk gladly helped sort out all questions we had. It is well located to do both Siem Reap and Angkor.Relax and enjoy the food, the pool and the people. Being out of the main city district it was quiet and not so hectic

A major disappointment if you've seen the pictures on their website. This hotel might have been THE place in Sieam Reap years ago. Now it's turned into a run down, overpriced and impersonal tourist bunker quite far from the city center. The carpet in my room looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in years. There is (slow) wifi internet in the rooms but only if you don't mind a completely unsecured connection. The breakfast buffet was okay but nothing to write home about. There are definitely better options in Sieam Reap today.

I went to Siem Reap with industry group for 3 days to visit Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom. I did not book this hotel myself. The hotel is quite big, and look luxury. Big furniture set was settled in lobby for customer to rest. In hall, it's decorated with giant chiness jar, which look elegant.

The receptionist look very smart, and quick response for guests request. Of cause, they can speak English fluently.

In room, There is all the luxury hotel should have, such minibar with many liquer, and smack, vairety of canned soft drink stuffed full in the refrigerator, electric boiler with packs of tea and coffee, soft and wide bed with clean blanket and pillow, TV with cable movie. The room is wide enough to put small chair and table in the corner. In wardrobe, there is a safe for keeping your value belonging.

Bathroom is also wide and clean. With 2 of bath kit and bathtub. Telephone and hair dryer is also in bathroom.

If you would like to travel night market, or night club, Tuk Tuk is always available in front of hotel with price 10,000 Riels/ 4 persons.

I got a very good sleep at night. In morning, the international breakfast buffet is available from 6-10 am. Tasty!!

However, you cannot take other people, which did not inform before, to sleep with you in room. They allow only 2 guests in one room, who must register the name. If you would like to take other people to sleep with you, such some beautiful girls from Pyramid club or Zone-One bar. You must pay extra USD 30 per person.

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay here. From the airport by taxi took us only about 4 minutes, and the next day by tuk tuk to Angkor about 10 minutes.
I tried to rent a bike but the government has disallowed foreigners from doing so due to many accidents. The hotel room is quite spacious, and very quiet .
The only problem is the relatively long way to get to town. Since there are no nightspot around the hotel, we took a tuk tuk to town for dinner and shopping. I think the journey was about 15-20 minutes.
