Me and my two daughters were the very first guests to this hotel for more than a year, because of the covid. We were so heartly welcomed by the staff (the woman at the reception desk spoke English really well.) This is an old hotel, and in a good way. It is beautiful with wood everywhere: roof, walls the stairs. It really feels genuine Cambodian. We did not use the pool, but it was just as beautiful. We had a spatious room, where there was enough space for two queen beds and an extra bed. The beds were a bit hard, as they often are in this country. The best part of the room was the balcony, facing the river and folk life below. I sat there for an hour just watching Siem Reap from above. Usually this hotel has a breakfast buffet, but because of covid you had to order your breakfast. It just took a few minutes to get everything we asked for. We had bread, fruit and scrambled eggs. The breakfast was served on the top floor of the building in a lovely, huge ballroom with a balcony all around. There are so many hotels in Siem Reap. I have stayed at much more fancy (and expensive) once, but also cheaper, but to get a room for three for about 60 dollar, including breakfast, pick-up at airport (not sure it is still included though), just perfect location in the middle of the town (next to the Old market) is fantastic. I can highly recommend the hotel. There is only one thing. Since the hotel is located in the town center, there are cars and people just outside the room. For me, just staying one night, it was not a problem at all. But if it is important to you to have silence I suggest ýou pick a hotel more far away from the center.…
A/C wasn't cool, bathroom was dirty, fridge was dirty, floor was dusty, room was dark, staff didn't seem to care. Luckily we didn't pay yet and just canceled our reservation and went to another hotel...
Shocking service from Agoda and lack of response to complaint… eight weeks later and no refund. Visited Siem Reap with my pregnant wife on 2nd May. With the times being as they are we expected a quiet Siem Reap. We did not expect a shut-down hotel to still be accepting guests! We booked the Ta Prohm via Agoda as the price was attractive and the facilities of spa, swimming pool, sauna, gym, restaurant, cable TV looked great. I have used Agoda for more than ten years now without any issues. When we arrived at the hotel, that’s when the problems started. There was a ‘skeleton staff’ working at front-of-house which consisted of a security guard (who watched us struggle in with our bags) and a receptionist. The reception area itself was hot and stifling. The receptionist, who was very nice, checked us in and explained that the air-con was turned off in reception because they had closed down many facilities due to the covid situation. The spa/swimming/sauna and gym area was also closed, there was no restaurant available, and we could also not watch TV in our room as the cable television service was disconnected. I checked my bank and saw that the payment for the room had already been taken by Agoda. The receptionist at Ta Prohm apologised for the lack of facilities and was understanding of my decision to cancel the booking. After all, we had only chosen the hotel to be able to use the advertised facilities. After a seven-hour drive, it was disappointing to be informed that I would not be able to let off some steam in the sauna or work out the stresses of these times in the hotel gym. The receptionist did not know why the hotel amenities were still being advertised on the Agoda site, even though they were shut down… and was unable to tell me why I had not been called in advance to be advised of the situation. When I called Agoda customer service (I had to make an international call to the Thailand number as there is no Cambodian-based number to call), the hotel receptionist was quick to confirm the situation and authorise the refund. Unfortunately, the Agoda customer service rep I spoke with was a bit more difficult to deal with. It took more than one hour on the phone (the call at my expense) to determine that Agoda could refund the payment for the room but that this could take more than one month to process! The rep was very resistant to the idea of reimbursing any money or even ‘Agoda Cash’ in lieu of the money and time I had spent on the phone call or driving around the city finding another room. The rep was also very resistant to escalating the complaint to a manager, instead choosing to repeat the same response over and over again. Driving around Siem Reap with a pregnant wife and no hotel room, this long call was not really what I needed. Especially with things being so tight for money these days, I did not relish the prospect of footing the bill for the next room and waiting an unknown amount of time for a refund. The crazy thing about it was, it was all so avoidable. If the hotel had simply updated its Agoda listing to show what was closed and what was opened, we never would have been in this situation. Alternatively, if I were messaged or called I could have cancelled earlier. Further calls and emails to Agoda customer service followed. The time spent on trying to put things right was just increasing. I asked to escalate the complaint… but instead Agoda closed the complaint ticket, with a warning that extra charges might be applied ! ! ! And so, here we are, now more than eight weeks later, and no refund received yet to my bank account. It is not actually the money that bothers me. The thing is, as I explained to the customer service rep, I have used Agoda for more than ten years without any issues, I have always had a good experience… until this shocking episode. Needless to say, I will continue to pursue my complaint (though I don’t know what good it will do me). Perhaps if I cannot get my money back, my experience can be a warning to others, to double check that the facilities you book are the facilities you get, and also that once that money comes out of your bank account… you could be driving down a long road to get it back.…
My husband and I have recently stayed at Ta Prohm Hotel for 5 nights and had a really lovely stay. The Hotel is beautifully decorated and is a calm oasis in the middle of busy Siem Reap, with a great location and easy walk to Pub Street and the markets. Our room and bathroom was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful at all times. Highly recommend this Hotel.
Stayed for 5 nights in early January, everything about this hotel was superb, spotless clean throughout and the friendliest and helpful staff I've met on several holidays in recent years,I will definitely return here next year
Great location overlooking the river and markets. Right next to Pub street. Buffet breakfast with good selection of food. Friendly staff, thanks Sro Em Seab for looking after me. I would stay there again.
Location, breakfast, and service is good. Pool was average being indoor otherwise all good. It's in the city center near the night market and convenient stores which is 24 hours. We have stayed 4 nights, glad we choose this place to stay, value for money we believe. They also pack breakfast if we are going for sunrise tours in the morning. Very easy to locate the hotel. Only 3 to 5 min we can reach the Pub Street and other markets.
I was so grateful for the early check in, given we’d been up all night traveling. They’re also one of the only hotels that offers FREE pickup from the airport. Staff were really helpful and it’s in a very central location right by the night market and pub street. My only concerns were with slow response times to questions before we arrived, and that the bathroom was quite dark and low quality - the tub is made of plastic so when you step down in it, it buckles a bit. But overall, a central place to stay with helpful staff!
We just came home from a 6 night stay at Ta Prohm Hotel in Siem Reap. What an absolute pleasure! The hotel is gorgeous, all covered with rich woods and filled with wood and jade carvings. One tour guide who picked us up was impressed when we told him it was our second stay at the hotel. He informed us that Ta Prohm Hotel is one of the original hotels in Siem Reap and certainly one of the most beautiful. That would probably explain its prime location. It is right in the middle of Pub Street, Old Market and the Night Market. You can walk everywhere, except the Ankgor temples, of course. Ta Prohm is a full service hotel. In addition to the usual restaurant, pool, bar, gym, room service, they have a spa and tour agency. We needed a tuk tuk for the day to see the temples. They booked Mr. Sith for us at $20 for the entire day. He was an excellent driver and guide. He was extremely accommodating, especially since we did have very specific requests. The hotel wanted our feedback because it was important to them that we were completely satisfied. The included daily breakfast buffet is exceptional. Eggs, omelettes and soup noodles are made to order. But the best thing about the facility is the staff. Everyday we were greeted cheerfully by the breakfast staff, housekeeping staff and front desk staff. We honestly felt like royalty. Ta Prohm Hotel Manager Mr. Sengkuon greeted us at breakfast every morning at 6am, making sure that everything was running smoothly and that all the guests were comfortable and served efficiently. Late one evening, we realized that we needed an extra night. The hotel was fully booked. Incredibly, Mr. Sengkuon was still there on the premises. We don't think he ever goes home. But when he heard about our predicament, he with the help of Ms. Sroem, made sure that we were able to extend our stay. It was such a relief! So there you have it. Great location, beautiful facility, full services and best of all, a caring, attentive staff. This is our favorite hotel ever!…
Great place to stay. Clean and quiet. Lots of nearby restaurant and Pub station. Very accomodating staff and good food. Will come back again. Highly recommend Hotel! Come and visit Siem Reap Ta Prohm Hotel!
