Right between Pub Street, New Night market and Old Night Market. Clean rooms with A/C, TV and in-room safe. Pool was nice especially after some hot days. Less than 5 minutes from Pub Street and all the markets. Breakfast was great. The only time we need a tug-tuk was to go to Ankor Wat, otherwise everything was availble on foot....

Nine of us visited Siem Reap on an Angkor Wat Temple Cycle Expedition and stayed 2 nights at the Apsara Centrepole. The hotel staff are very courteous and attentive and the location of the hotel is unbeatable if you want to be in the centre of town. A two minute walk across the main street will take you to a...

So many restaurants in Siem Reap so where to go?... we happened upon a new restaurant situated at the entrance to the Apsara Centrepole Hotel. What caught our attention was the big screen TV with classical cello music ... it was so serene and relaxing against the usual rock booming from most other eateries. The restaurant had just opened that day...

Breakfast have a few options from local khmer cuisine, vegetarian choices, and the big full suite of eggs and bacon. The pool was not big but it was good enough for a nice dip. I love the lemongrass scent that greets us every time we head back to our room. The only issue I had were some flies that always...

We had booked to stay for Christmas and I had booked a double room for my sister and a deluxe for me and my partner. Dear valued guests we are thankful for your feedback and I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your review. You have raised many issues and I have considered each of these points with much thought. We endeavour to do our utmost to make our guests as comfortable and happy as possible. It is only through your feedback that we can identify ways to improve our hotel, rooms and the service that we provide. We are extremely sorry for any inconveniences or discomfort that you experienced during your stay here, with us at “The Apsara Centrepole”.

Unfortunately there are some things which we are not able to control, for example the tuk tuk transfer situation at the airport. The airport has a very strict policy on where transfer tuk tuks are allowed to park. Transfer tuk tuks are only allowed to park at the outermost parking bays of the airport's parking area which means that our customers are made to walk a long distance to get to tuk tuk transfer services. Many people have complained about this situation but the airport has its policies and is unrelenting when it comes to its rules. We would greatly appreciate that you lodge a complaint with the airport because it is not right that travellers who have spent 10s of hours flying should have to walk so far for a transfer service. We would, for the sake of our valued guests and all guests of Siem Reap like to see the airport change its policy and allow hotel transfer tuk tuks to park much closer to the airport terminal.

Thank you for complimenting our staff on their friendliness and smiles. At Apsara Centrepole we pride ourselves on the goodness, honesty and friendliness of our staff. We relate to one another as if we are a family and as a family we really do the best that we can to make our guests feel as if they are part of that family. We are a small boutique and personal hotel and hope that our guests are comfortable enough to tell us of any short comings that they might experience with their accommodation or our service so that we can immediately rectify those deficiencies. We can only wish that you had told us of the problems with mossies and crickets in your room because we would have moved you to another room and taken care of the problem in your original room.

Unfortunately in Cambodia we have problems with insects and at our hotel we fumigate once per week to keep these pests at bay but properties near by are not as vigilant as we so if windows are left open during the day all sorts insects decide that “your” room is their home. Mossies are a real problem, crickets on the other hand can not hurt anyone and most people find them to be cute but of course some people find all insects threatening and if any of our guests are afraid of insects we will spray their rooms to make sure every living insect is dead and removed.

The little lizards that you speak of are called Geckos. They are completely harmless and are ubiquitous throughout Cambodia, both inside and outside homes and accommodation. It does not matter whether you stay in 5 star accommodation or not, you will always find Geckos running up and down the walls, inside and out. I have even seen geckos in the rooms of the Raffles hotel here in Siem Reap. They are a very shy, little creature and can not hurt human beings in any way. Geckos run away from humans. Most travellers find them to be amusing and feel it a privilege to see them and hear their funny little mating calls.

You stayed with us during New Years which is one of the busiest and noisiest times of the year, particularly in the Pub Street precinct and our hotel is valued by those who desire to be conveniently close to the eating and partying scene which this precinct is famous for.

The bottle of champagne that was left in your room was simply an addition to our mini bar range because it was the New Year. The same addition was made to every room and we did not mean to offend you by providing it as part of our mini bar range. We provide a mini bar for the convenience of our guests and we do not pressure our guests to consume these products. We were simply giving our guests an extra choice. We are sorry that you felt that we were trying to pressure you into consuming the champagne by leaving it in your room for a couple days.

We clean our rooms every day and we have not had any complaints in the past about our rooms being unkempt or dirty. Our house keeping staff are very thorough and do their jobs very well. We change our guest's bed linen every couple of days or sooner if we can see that the linen is soiled.

We try to make the stay of our guests as comfortable and trouble free as possible and we offer a booking service for most of the cultural activities to be experienced in and around Siem Reap. Our staff offered to book the tickets for the Siem Reap Museum for you and the cost of buying the tickets here at the Apsara Centrepole is $12 which is exactly the same price that it costs at the Museum, $12. Your review seemed to imply that we were charging more than the museum which is just not the case. Our hotel was simply offering you a courtesy at no extra cost or inconvenience to you.

As to the stains on the towels. We acknowledge that our towels are stained but they were definitely not dirty . Our towels are stained or dyed because most pale skinned guests that stay here value a dark tan so they use fake bronzing lotions to give them the best “holiday” tans possible which stains their skin to a darker colour. Unfortunately when our guests wipe themselves down with our white towels the dyes on their bodies also dye the towels. No matter how much our towels are washed or bleached we do not seem to be able to remove the effects that the bronzing lotions have on our white towelling. We can assure you that our towels are not dirty because they are washed and sanitised and are very clean but because of your very valued comments we are considering ways of rectifying this issue by either changing the laundry service that we use or changing the colour of our Manchester.

Because of the situation that you encountered with the room door and wardrobe door clashing we are considering replacing the hinged doors of the wardrobe with sliding doors to resolve the problem.

I do not understand what you meant about “viola the safe”.

It is only through your feedback that we can improve our rooms and service and once again I gratefully say “thank you”.

Unfortunately I do not understand your comment regarding the shower : “we knew the shower was going to be a challenge each day”. What was the challenge that you perceived that you were going to have with regard to the shower? There is always very hot water with very good pressure in all of our rooms so I can not understand what challenge you thought, that you knew you would face each day. Did the challenge that you knew you would have actually manifest?

As to the furnishings being old, our rooms are furnished very simply and the furniture is made from Cambodian rare solid timbers. Not cheap veneered particle board or ply wood.

Lastly I must say that we the staff and management enjoyed you staying with us and seeing your faces each morning. It was a pleasure to serve you. If ever you decide to stay with us again please let us know if there is a problem with your room or our service so that we might rectify the problem immediately or as soon as we are able to.

Yours sincerely,

Management and staff of The Apsara Centrepole.
