Mother Home is a little tricky to find, being off the beaten path, but most of the tuk-tuk drivers seem to know where it is. That also means it's a nice, quiet hotel without a lot of road noise. The staff is friendly and courteous, and the housekeepers are very polite inn the halls. I think my favorite party was the signs banning durian, played at the great of every staircase. Breakfast was a very typical Asian style buffet. The selection is limited but varied from day to day, and was a good choice of wholesome, tasty food, with options for Continental style as well. The bedroom was comfortable and while it took some time to get the A/C moving, it was quite efficient once it got up to speed. The bathroom is Chinese style, with the shower, toilet and sink all in one space, so if you're the snooty type who refer to the bathroom as an ensuite, you should probably spend the money for an expensive, Western-style hotel. If you don't mind a more rustic setting, you'll love Mother Home. Location, location, location: there's a small mall just north of the hotel, and it's within walking distance of plenty of food and, ultimately, the Old Market and Pub Street. I found it a great place while I toured the temples in the morning, then have a rest through the heat of the day, and spend my evenings people watching in the tourism district.

The location of this hotel is convenient, being 2km from the centre of town, with lots of adjacent shops and fooderies. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is is attractive and well maintained, and is a good area for breakfast. I was extremely disappointed to find that a hotel in which I was going to spend four nights had particularly out-of-date en suites. Mine was possibly worse than many. The shower was immediately in front of the WC with an ineffective curtain between the shower and the pan with no adequate drainage. The net result was complete soaking of the en suite when showering (and I'm not a walrus showerer !), including WC paper. A poor feature was also that the WC lever was so close to the wall return that there was only room for one finger to depress it. I complained and was advised that all the en suites were the same. I was shown a number of other rooms which confirmed the point (excluding the lever issue). My tour guide suggested I change hotels. Given I had been travelling with three other companions for three weeks, this now into our fourth, I did not accept the suggestion. I settled for one night's credit which was agreed with gracioiusness. The remainder of my stay was a positive experience. The manager needs to tell the Chinese owners that this level of fixtures and fittings is not ok for western visitors.

The hotel has nice rooms and a lovely pool, as well as a restaurant attached to the hotel. It is also well situated close to the center but away from noise. However, they did not have a family room that could accommodate our family of 4 despite assuring this was the case. The A/C was also very much on its last legs, but thank goodness it at least partially worked. The staff were kind, although communication was sometimes difficult.

It was simply ok. Room spacious enough, a bit tired. Clean. Service basic and some challenges with additional assistance. Language being a barier. Breakfast ok, both asiatic and western style bufet. Just place to spend nights when visiting Angkor
