After an absence from Cambodia for 3 years due to the pandemic, I couldn’t wait to return. Siem Reap, however, has been hit hard by the absence of tourists and a number of the hotels I had stayed at previously are still closed. A friend recommended the Anantara Angkor and it turned out to be a wonderful gift! The hotel is a beautiful oasis in Siem Reap. Relatively small compared to some of the local hotels, the rooms ring the pool and courtyard. My Premier Terrace Suit was clean, quiet, and beautifully appointed with a good selection of furniture, a mini-bar/fridge, a little deck area surrounded by water and plants, and an excellent shower. There is also a huge bathtub for those who like baths. Comfy robes and excellent bath amenities such as toothbrushes, a loofa, and products that smell of jasmine. They even have their own bottles of mosquito repellent for guests! What makes Anantara Angkor really special though is the staff! They are all amazing! Kind, thoughtful, with welcome smiles, everyone in the spa, restaurant, front desk, housekeeping - everyone! - was amazing! I want to give a special shout-out to Dam in the restaurant and Yuki at the front desk because they truly made every day special. I will review Chi, the restaurant separately, but suffice to say, it was excellent. The included breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food from Asia and the West, and the bread products are absolutely delicious (my recommendation - the sugared donuts!!!). And the iced coffee was soooooo good! Happy hour two-for-one drink specials were also thoroughly enjoyed (try the Mai Tai!). The Anantara spa smells like heaven and the signature massage is relaxing and perfect after a long day at the temples. The one thing to note is that the Anantara is not in the center of Siem Reap and there really is not much within walking distance of the hotel. That makes it quieter, which I loved, but for those who want to walk to Pub Street, take note. However, the hotel does offer a free tuktuk to take you down to the center. Everything about my stay (I was there for 7 days) was wonderful and I can’t wait to return!…
I stayed at Anantara Angkor last week for my birthday and I had an amazing stay! The staff is amazing and friendly, the facilities stunning and there is an incredible attention to details. I have no words to describe the massage at the Spa! I strongly recommend stay here, you would not regret it! Thanks to the staff for making my birthday unforgettable!
This hotel is a real gem. From the moment we checked in*, the service was nothing short of excellent. The hotel staff were always one step ahead of us: it’s like they knew our schedule and pre-empted our every need! This was without exception - every staff member was warm, professional and intuitive. If we mentioned we were going into town, a taxi would be booked for us. When our TV didn’t provide any movies we wanted, the staff gave us a portable wifi dongle to stream them. When we were in a rush to leave the hotel for a day tour, the staff (without request) packed up our food from the pool and delivered it to our room, giving us precious time to get ready. These are small (and not exhaustive) examples of the degree of care taken. Before I had even thought of asking about check out, reception approached me, asked about my flight time and made arrangements on my behalf. You could truly relax, let go, and, as if by magic, everything would fall into place. This type of considered, proactive, caring and professional service is something I have only experienced in very few, and some of the best, hotels around the world. With that in mind, the value for money is also excellent. My only criticism would be that the pool decking needs some refurbishment, but that is understandable after 2 years of COVID measures. The rest of the facilities are as you’d expect - a great bed, quiet room and calm pool. The considered approach is carried into the rooms somewhat, with a pillow menu, hand soap menu and thoughtful touches like mosquito repellant. The restaurant has some very tasty food, with a good take on upscaling traditional Cambodian dishes. I would usually name star performers (Yuki at reception, for example) but every single member of staff gave a level of service which was a perfect balance of love and professionalism, and we felt very cared for. Cambodia is a beautiful country with a rich history, and this hotel truly is something special. Thank you Anantara Angkor! *As a side note, we did not book in advance. We walked in and booked on the day! Despite the short notice we were immediately treated like cherished guests.…
The staff at the breakfast and restaurant are very great. The room was so so, we had bad smell coming from the Toilet and TV doesn't work (staff said they have issue with service provider but nothing get fixed). - overall an average experience.
My wife and two adult children spent four days in Siem Reap and thoroughly enjoyed the Anantara. The rooms were spacious and well appointed (great pillows) and the service was fantastic. The gym is small but has good equipment and the pool is very nice. The restaurant staff is very attentive and will certainly become top class as they get more experience. I would definitely recommend staying there.
Me and my partner stayed at Anantara Angkor for four nights and did not want to leave! Working in a 5-star hotel myself I was blown away by the level of service and commitment the team here showed for all of the guests; there wasn't anything they weren't happy to assist with and were genuinely so lovely. The food at the Chi restaurant was incredible and the spa is a must do. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The hotel is a beautiful oasis just outside the city center. The staff are kind and attentive, ready to help with anything you need. The restaurant has tasty food, and the pool is heavenly. I highly recommend the hotel for your next visit in Siem Reap.
Good choice. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. A/C work well. Warm water is plentiful. Pool is nice. Staff are friendly and most speak English. Had trouble ordering breakfast in the restaurant until reinforcements arrived. CHI restaurant for dinner is really, really good. We ordered off the Exotics menu and the regular menu. The spices used were noticeably better than what you typically get at Khmer restaurants around town. Can't recommend dinner at CHI enough even if you're not staying at the hotel. Breakfast on the other hand offered limited selection and wasn't all that tasty. If it hadn't come with the room, we would have ventured elsewhere in the mornings. As tourists return to Siem Reap, I imagine Anantara will expand the breakfast menu and improve the quality. Understand that the mattresses are the super hard ones found in most hotels in Thailand. If you can't do a super hard mattress, then maybe stay elsewhere (although similar 5-stars may have the same type of mattress).…
Our stay at Anantara was beyond incredible. The staff alone make this hotel a place you need to stay at. The staff are beyond kind, attentive, helpful, and friendly. They made every single thing happen for us with ease. They are flexible and thorough in all that they do. Overall service is impeccable. The hotel seems very secluded and serene, despite being a short ride away from downtown Siem Reap. It's very luxurious and well maintained. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is very obvious and beautiful. Our spa experience was also delightful. Overall we had an incredible stay and would highly recommend Anantara Angkor to anyone visiting Siem Reap!
Looked run down. Poor maintenance. Room AC broken. Room curtains broken. Pool filtration plant was off. They started when asked for it. Reception flooring was all scratched. Cobwebs in restaurant area. Pool area lights were off after evening. Seems like money saving exercise was going on.
