We stayed 5 nights and extended one more. The location is just perfect, around 15 min walk to pub street but there are restaurants and shops nearby. The room was clean and spacious. Definitely recommend!

We stayed at Ta Som for 10 days, and the staff made us feel right at home. We had a room on the 2nd floor and it was very clean and spacious. We had a fan and AC which worked really well, and the shower always had hot water.

Breakfasts were delicious! There were various options to choose from including omelettes, baguettes, fresh fruits, and fried noodles.

The staff also helped us arrange tours and day outings. We booked our tuk tuk driver with them, and he was punctual every morning to pick us up. You can also rent bicycles at the hotel to explore the outskirts of town.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay with them and would return here again.

I stayed in this hotel for 6 days and 5 Nights March 2015. When I was enquiring and asking about their services MR Lin the reservation agent is very accommodating and friendly. all my queries and doubts are answered right away.
I booked a tour 5 day tour with them in a very low price.
The owner Mr Mang Meng was so friendly and even fetched me in the airport.
The guesthouse is so near the airport, near to the PUB Street and Night Market.
They gave me a double room even though iam only a solo traveler.
The room is clean and they gave me a plate full of fruits... such a lovely gesture. to welcome guest.
The tour was amazing its like tailored to what I want. The tourguide picked for me was so funny and very informative. I learned a lot.
I recommend this guesthouse 100%
Even though my travel/tour was over they keep in touch with their guest .....
the best!!!!

Ta Som was one of the best places we stayed in SeA, not because it's luxurious or anything, but because the staff were excellent and it had everything we needed. We initially arrived early in the morning at the airport and they picked us up for free. They gave us a room on arrival, and a fruit shake, then later in the day once cleaning was finished they moved us to another, much nicer room. They had good value services for transport around Angkor, as well as to other cities, and they didn't overcharge like so many other guesthouses do.

As a tourist, I don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with rude and unhelpful staff, deal with the confusion of which places to go, how to get there, how much to pay, where to eat, etc., and I also don't want to worry about getting ripped-off in whichever unfamiliar place I go to.

I just want to have a great touring experience.

If you feel the same way, then Ta Som guesthouse is my recommended place for you to stay in Siem Reap. Let me list down the pros and cons for you:

Pros:
1. If you email the owner, Meng, before your trip to make reservations and ask for advice, he will always respond promptly and with practical answers.
2. Free pick-up service to and from the airport and to and from the bus station.
3. Free welcome drink and fruits upon your arrival.
4. Cheap and clean rooms.
5. Free internet with fast speed. You can use the PC's at the reception area or you can access the internet via wifi in your room.
6. Integrated service.
-It has it's own restaurant where you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is free.
-It has it's own tour service. Tuktuk, bike, car, tour guide, etc. it's all there. Look for Mr. Moori if you need a tuktuk. He speaks English very well.
-It can arrange your visa for you if you want to go to other countries nearby.
-It sells bus tickets to nearby destinations.
-Maps and other reading guides are available at the reception.
7. Very friendly and polite staff who know how to speak clear and cohesive English. There was always staff at the reception area ready to answer any questions we might have. Mr. Moori (who seems to do multiple jobs as waiter, tuktuk driver, and reception staff) also told us about a buffet and Khmer dance show at a nearby restaurant which costs only $8.00 if we go as a group with other Ta Som guests (usual price is $12.00). This was a great recommendation since we weren't decided yet where to eat that night.
8. The staff even gives you a souvenir gift when you leave. It's just a simple gift, but we really appreciated this.

Cons:
1. Our room wasn't cleaned and our 2 bottles free mineral water was not replenished during the third day of our stay. This was just a very minor thing for us though since our room wasn't that dirty that day.
2. The air conditioner seemed to have some problem because it took quite some time for it to cool the entire room. This was a minor thing for us also.

Might be a Pro or Con:
1. The location was a bit far away from the night market and central market. But this could also be a pro since you will be away from the noise.

Note:
This place is NOT for you if you are expecting a 4-star or 5-star hotel experience. This is a guesthouse and of course you need to set your expectations appropriately.

Ta Som Guesthouse (TSG) not only is a guesthouse but also provides tour services.
We stayed in Cambodia for 9 days, one day in Phnom Penh and eight days in Siem Reap. We booked 4 tour packages from TSG: Royal Phnom Penh, Angkor Explorer, World Heritage Preah Vihear and Floating Village Kampong Phluk which were really very exceptional tours. We had very good tour guides and drivers too. We visited many interesting places – except from the classical monuments – and we learned many things about the way of life of the Cambodian people.
We were very pleased from the professionalism and the organization of the staff which is very friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the prices are very reasonable.
We highly recommend Ta Som Guesthouse to anyone who wants to have a great experience in Cambodia.

Kostas, Athens

P.S.
The site of TSG is very informative!

I was looking for a budget guest house for 3 days in Siem Reap, and Trip Avisor threw up this place. I immediately booked a single AC room for a fantastic price of $ 38.20. The best part is that I did not have to pay any advance---Mr. Heng, the owner's son took the cash only when I reached there.
The room was on the 2nd floor and was moderately spacious, neat, with a good AC and minibar. The restroom was clean, though basic. I was surprised to see 2 fresh towels, soap cake and tooth brush/ paste thrown in for free, apart from rubber sandals for bathroom visits. There was also a 20 inch LED TV that I did not have time to use. They also provide 2 small water bottles daily for free.
There was strong wifi signal in all floors, with a router on each one.
The common sit out area near the balcony was very comfortable, with wooden reclining chairs.
What surprised me was that breakfast with 6 options was free, as was the airport drop. And that is a good drive of 20 minutes away.
Staff are friendly, especially Mr. Heng and Bly. They charge normal rates for guided tours, via tie-ups. They don't force you though. I paid $13 amd 15 for the small circuit and grand circuit tours respectively. The guest house is located right beside the Caltex gas station, on National Road 6. It is around 15 minutes walk from Pub Street. There is a mart behind the gas station, and Lucky Mall is 7 minutes walk away.
I would certainly suggest this place to anyone looking for budget stay at Siem Reap.

The only cons I can list (though pardonable for the price they charge) are:-
1. They provide coffee decoction only. No milk. On my request, they gave condensed milk.
2. No elevator.
3. They need to provide 2 large water bottles, instead of small ones per day.

the guesthouse has a good location, that its walking distance from the main tourist areas such as Pub street (about 15 mins) but far away from the noise. i stayed here only for one night but overall it was good. i was picked up from the airport and even though my flight was delayed by a hour and a half, they waited for me. The room is clean, basic and functional. basic toiletries and a towel was provided. there is a restaurant which serves great food and they even made me breakfast even though i slept in and missed the time. Overall a good place to stay, and good value for money.

The staff are nice , a bit forced, but nice . That's the only good thing about that place unfortunately. the rooms are just not worth the $15 . ( I am saying this as a person who spent 2 months in Siem Reap; you can rent rooms for the same price in way cleaner, more comfortable and better looking hotels in the same area, not even comparable...)
I was put in a dingy little room that sported a creepy window view , a dark wooden corridor. no daylight came inside at all. (please see the photo attached...) Basically felt like i was in jail.
Wifi was really bad as well. Not recommended.

I booked Ta Som Guesthouse, Siem Reap based on great reviews, then the day we travelled I checked for the address and saw a less than happy recent guest’s words. Compounded by the airport taxi driver’s comment, ”I’ve never taken guests there.” I was quite apprehensive. However, Ta Som Guesthouse turned out to be a value for money, port in the storm that is the craziness of Siem Reap. Okay, so it’s basic, but what do you expect for the price. What we got was clean, friendly, safe and more than adequate. Beware Siem Reap, not just Ta Som, suffers from more than its fair share of load shedding ... well maybe its because there are so many tourists. It has Angkor Wat after all. Ta Som is at the edge of the busy section ... and there’s real coffee at the Service Station cafe next door. Special mention is needed here to Mr Phalla our taxi driver for the duration. This polite young man scored us at the airport, and was chuffed when Brian engaged him for the Grand Wat tour of Siem Reap. Well mannered and English speaking, plus always with a clean pressed shirt, he even checked if we thought it was okay for him to wear his sunglasses. I’m sure he made Siem Reap an easier place to negotiate. You can find him on email: phallapes@gmail.com Our next bus trip took us to Vy Chhe, Battambang.
