We had a good and comfortable stay at Muchenje but take note, the images on the website of the cottage as well as the fire with two chairs with open plain views is not the case at all. The cottages are comfortable and has pretty much everything you would need but a 2 night stay was more than enough for us. It isn't what we expected at all, but having said that, our stay was good enough.
We revisited Muchenje three years after our first visit. It is still as outstanding as ever. Management is superb and the resort has an aura of nature and efficiency. Birding was excellent, even though migrants have not returned. It is a birdwatchers haven; the variety of plant life ensures that bird parties are always in attendance somewhere on site. The full canopy ensures one is almost always in shade. We stayed in one of the three permanent tents and were very comfortable.
The owners are very helpful and the Chalets are completely stufft with all you need for self-catering . But be aware that you have the last large shpping-mall ether in Kasane or in Maun . The owner was very polite and helpful . He offers a limited number uf goods of dayly demands . Well known are his self grown salads what he offers for visitors ,frech and high quality .
Very pleasant overnight stopover en-route to Chobe National Park. Campsites are shaded and ablution facilities were clean with warm water. The swimming pool was a very welcome relief after a hot day on the road.
We had not planned to stay at Muchenje so we arrived unannounced. We were fortunate to be allocated a glamping tent which was available and affordable. The place is very neat and well maintained, the tent was just fabulous. Even though there were constant power outages due to rain the tents were equipped with gas stoves and rechargeable lights. There is a kiosk at the reception which is relatively well stocked in case of emergencies, my advise is do not attempt to restock at the service station as it is so spartan (there are only potato crisps and liquid refreshments).
