We had not planned to stay at Muchenje so we arrived unannounced. We were fortunate to be allocated a glamping tent which was available and affordable.
The place is very neat and well maintained, the tent was just fabulous. Even though there were constant power outages due to rain the tents were equipped with gas stoves and rechargeable lights.
There is a kiosk at the reception which is relatively well stocked in case of emergencies, my advise is do not attempt to restock at the service station as it is so spartan (there are only potato crisps and liquid refreshments).

The owners are very helpful and the Chalets are completely stufft with all you need for self-catering .
But be aware that you have the last large shpping-mall ether in Kasane or in Maun .
The owner was very polite and helpful . He offers a limited number uf goods of dayly demands .
Well known are his self grown salads what he offers for visitors ,frech and high quality .

Muchenje Campsite proved the perfect base for our stay in Chobe. Haydn and his Team's attention to detail from the chipped pathways to the swept camp sites, the little essentials shop plus all the infrastructure services of power & water really ticks all the boxes. On top of this is the lawned area around the pool plus the viewing deck when one just wants to chill. Then of course you have a magnificent view over the Chobe Floodplains and your are less than 10 kms into Chobe GR proper.

My husband and I stayed in one of Muchenje's campsites for three nights during our first trip to Botswana in June. The site is less than five minutes' driving from the entrance to Chobe National Park, which was amazingly convenient for doing several self-drives at various times there. The campsites are beautiful and spacious, shaded by big trees, overlooking the river, and fully equipped with a dining/resting area, sink, and table/grill for cooking. The combined toilet/shower facilities were also some of the nicest we experienced at campsites during our trip. The staff are kind and attentive, and there's a helpful shop in the office with food essentials (including bags of fresh salad vegetables from their garden) and souvenirs. Also, when we had an initial encounter with bold vervet monkeys trying to steal our food, Hayden, the owner, was very helpful in immediately getting to us with support/advice to keep them at bay for the rest of our stay! We absolutely loved this place and would encourage anyone to stay here.

The campsite is well prepared and equipped for all sorts of campers. It offers running clean water on every campsite, very clean bathrooms and toilets plus cleaning areas for laundry or dishes. It is very well located next to the entrance to Chobe or on the way to Savuti. The owner and the staff are very friendly and super helpful in all kinds of questions. Whenever we'll be back, we will stay for sure again in Muchenje!

Muchenje campsite ans cottages is such a beautiful place to be at. Suitable for individuals, couples and families as it has a lot of space. We enjoyed hanging out by the sunset deck, where we even witnessed a herd of zebra grazing nearby. Their pool is very clean and well maintained, and so is the entire sitting area around the pool. There is a lot of cool open spaces where one can sit and read a book, relax, or catchup with family under the shade. The only challenge we had was the cellphone network being unavailable inside the cottage, which wasn't a problem for my siblings who stayed in the tent. Another downer is that the game reserve gate between Kasane and Muchenje closes at 7pm, so one has to make it through the gate before then, so as to get to the accommodation.
Overall, a great place, would definitely go back there anyday!!

We stayed 4 nights here. Some rented a tent, that was very comfortable, but you have to go to the outdoor "ablutions area." Others rented chalets. We had a kitchen with utensils, a bathroom with a very nice outdoor shower, A/C, mosquito net, couch, and outdoor dining area. The manager is often available and very helpful. Wifi can be accessed at the reception area.
There is an electrified fence around the property to keep large animals out. It doesn't stop the thieving monkeys - don't leave food outside!
A tiny swimming pool, but nice, and a deck to watch the sunset.

We really enjoyed the Muchenje campsite and its proximity to Chobe. Our campsite overlooked the Chobe river and was spacious, well-shaded and equipped with a plug point, braai with grid and basin with tap. The ablution facilities were really good with hot water and nice individual shower/toilet rooms. We enjoyed the pool and adjacent grassed area and loved the deck overlooking the river and watching sunsets, hippos and abundant bird life. Would love to visit again someday

In Kasane
Answer from Trish W
Kasane, Botswana1 contribution
Good Morning, We do arrange activities. Game drives, boat cruises, day trips to the Victoria Falls and canoe trips on the Western side of the Chobe (highly recommended if you want to see animals up close and personal). We can arrange for transfers to Kasane to do an Activity but it is cheaper to drive through to Kasane and connect with our suppliers from there if you have a car. Please do not hesitate to ask for any further advise. Kind Regards Trish
