We camped at a plot near the river. During the night 3 men walking around inside the camp were scoping out the campsite, i heard and saw them from my roof top tent. They cam very close to our car. When one returned and was heading straight for us I shouted at him and he ran off. It turned out these men had also broken into a next-door business and were moving on to Thebes. When I tried to find security patrolling i couldn't. The guard at the main gate was asleep. ***For a massive complex they only employ 3 guards that I never saw patrolling*** Kasane police responded. There were gun shots and flares going off. I had my statement taken over and over. Night duty manager, Blue, failed to take my statement at the time. But instead woke me up at 6.30 and 7.30 (I had just fallen…
Out of three camping places in Kasane that we checked out we liked this one the most and stayed there for two nights in our rooftop tent. Our camping place was number 4, it was well equipped, but without any grass only sand and gravel, not pretty but functional. Bathrooms were clean, personnel were kind. During the night this camp can be very loud with wildlife (birds, hippos), sometimes it woke us up. When asking for transport to Vic Falls and safari rides in Chobe at the reception we noticed that their prices were super high, therefore we organised this by ourselves with agencies in downtown where it was more then three times cheaper. We also tried out camp restaurant where they serve good pizzas. One weird thing that happened to us here was that someone occupied our camping…
We were with a group camping and upgraded to a room with aircon. WE enjoyed our stay. We did book activites for the boat ride with another company as it was nearly 1/2 the price, so keep that in mind if you stay there.
Rooms are small and need updating. Restaurant had many items unavailable and lunch and dinner meals were not appealing. Breakfast was very good. Wifi is not great and frequently disconnects and you have to go to the lobby to connect (it is better in the restaurant). It is ok if you just need a place to put your head for the night.
We were In Zimbabwe November 15, 2017 when the coup took place. We literally fled back to Botswana and this hotel took us in. It was quite nice and the food was excellent. We were literally at a loss as to what to do and staying here for 2 nights really helped. Wifi was great in the bar area but not in the reception. We had to make several phone calls to South African Air and the staff helped with that. Though not on our original itinerary, this hotel was a great place to stay and we were not the only "refugees" as a large group of Italians also fled to this spot from Zim to wait out the fallout from the coup.
Stayed in the tents and although the day time temperatures exceeded 40 degrees, the evenings were lovely and cool as were the tents which were extremely comfortable. Restaurant pleasant, pizzas were good, everything else pretty average. We booked on their Chobe morning activity and the afternoon boat activity and were left very underwhelmed compared to doing the trips with other operators in Kasane.
Quiet and comfortable stop before heading to the river and then hoping the border to Namibia. Good camp sites. Shame the restaurant doesnt over look the river, but i understand there was a fire and they are rebuilding the restaurant by the river. The temporary one has a good atmosphere and is set out well. Great Pizza and lovely Staff. Would stay there again.
All the rooms are build around a court year which is dark. Rooms are not that clean. They do have air conditioning. Wifi is really bad and sparatic. Breakfast is typical but the staff is slow and takes a while. Bar on site which is fairly active. They do get overland camping groups which living up the place if you want that.
Stayed here for two nights and found that the reception staff were very rude. As I was going on safari early the next morning I approached the receptionist to ask for an early morning call. She was very abrupt and said not possible as the reception doesn't open until 7am! Very poor service considering there were a lot of people going on safari early and perhaps needed wake up calls. Also this explained why we could not have breakfast until we had returned at 9.30 am. Having been up from 5.30 this was a long time to go without some food. I understand that we cannot take pre pack food on safari but at least have some muffins or such like which we could have eaten before boarding the safari jeeps. The receptionists were generally unpleasant which detracted from my stay here. The…
