The hotel has a very good location
The breakfast is very complete, includes juices, a variety of pastries, eggs, fruits, etc.
Staff attention is good
There are few 4* hotels that have air conditioning and these rooms have

Also the view from the room is very beautiful, we were on the 8th floor
The only bad thing is the rooms have carpet and do not smell very good...they say that on lower floors there are rooms with ceramic floors
The view from the terrace is also very nice.

This is a very pleasant hotel located directly in the heart of Cochabamba on El Prado, the main street in the city. The junior suites (about $80 per night) offer plenty of space and if you have a room facing El Prado, you will have a great view of the city, the mountains, and the huge mountain top statute of Jesus which is an exact replica of the one in Rio (only bigger). The restaurant is fine and the breakfast that they offer is simple yet varied. Best of all is the staff. They were extremely helpful and there was always someone at the front desk who spoke English competently. They really seemed to want me to enjoy my stay. The small computer room offered free, all-day and night internet service. There is no pool or gym. A taxi stand is located directly in front of the hotel. Finally, Cochabamba is located at 8500 feet so the altitude is really not a problem at all (unlike La Paz). It's a perfect place to spend a few days getting acclimated to the altitude of the Andes before moving to higher ground.

This hotel is located in the most central area of the city and most restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. The hotel has good accommodations but not fancy. Nice staff...I've stayed here many times.

We booked this hotel online (hotels.com) and received a confirmation for a given price. When we arrived to check in, they not only demanded we prepay, but the price was higher. Despite having a written confirmation with the agreed price, the staff at check-in would not bulge and demanded we pay more. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel.

Do not book here, they will try to rip you off.

arrived to cba from la paz where I stayed at hotel presidente. after registering with appropriate documents the front desk clerk demanded I prepaid for my stay, being this unusual and since I have never before in any part of Bolivia or the us been asked to pay in advanced, demanded and explanation, the plain answer is Internal policy of the hotel, yelled at me by the Manager from across the desk. Let me clarify that in Bolivia there is no law dictating the prepayment of your stay in a hotel, but consulting with family and friends it is very unusual for this to happens, they could have asked for a credit card,or taking in to account I had 3 large suit cases. i believe I was discriminated because of my looks. I did ask other people staying at the hotel and none had prepaid their stay. The way I was treated was humiliating during my stay, visitors and friends were subject to a 35 dollar penalty for going to my room. i filed a large complaint when checking out, They have no,parking lot, so,I don't understand how come they have 5 stars? or even 4. they should,be downgraded to 0. don't stay there go somewhere else, trust me on this one.

Response from Elisa M, Reservations Department Supervisor at Hotel Diplomat
Responded Oct 2, 2013
Good afternoon Mr. Solis, We are very sorry for the misunderstanding. Please note that all walk-in guests without a prior reservation are required to pay upon arrival; exceptions are available for corporate clients only. During your one night stay, a discount in the nightly rate for one guest in a single room was confirmed during your check-in; for this reason an additional charge applied for a second guest sharing the room. Our facilities include a restaurant, and also open areas with confortable sofas at no cost for guests and visitors. The free parking lot is available for hotel guests only, due to high demand. For any additional information please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to help. Best regards,

I booked this hotel because it was listed a "the place where business people stay". Little did i know that the business people staying here do not need an internet connection. When you do get connected the speed runs at about .5 Mbps and then constantly get kicked off the network because of an IP conflict. I even tried hard-wiring to the ethernet port and got similar results. The rooms are nice if you happen to get a corner room with a view but the breakfast is lacking.

This hotel is mostly used by frequent business travelers.
Everything about it is average. Yet, since the offer is not abundant and it's been there for a long time, it is generally well attended.
Rooms are small and TVs are even smaller!
WiFi sucks.
Breafkast is less than average.
I would not eat here. There's better places for lunch or dinner in town.

Hotel is well located: restaurants, ice cream, the Prado and park, even the tennis club is just 4 blocks away. A walk to the market place is about 10 bocks, safe and interesting and walking
feels very safe, in the evening as well as early morning.
Hotel itself is very satisfactory.....much in the style of the 1970s, though not planned to be so.
Only 4-6 rooms on each floor. Elevators are slow but stairway is windowed and totally open to sunlight. Rooms have golden natural wood. Hotel restaurant is great...good food, nice buffet, very accommodating. Registration staff are low key but very ready to help with whatever you need. ATMs (called something like automated cashier) are within one block.

This was my 2nd visit to Cochabamba before going back to the US.
The company tried to book me again on the 5 star hotel "gran hotel cochabamba" but i refused and decided to take tripadvisor's info and went to this hotel.
I was afraid it was going to get a noise bedroom since its located in the main party street, el prado, but no. The staff was friendly, the room was on floor 7 and was ok for me, to go rest, read, use internet.
Honnestly my expectations were not that high, but i got a good and friendly service, a good room at this hotel.
In Cochabamba i would suggest to try this hotel or hotel Regina, but not "gran hotel cochabamba"
