It was not what we were led to believe from the Airbnb site. Place was rundown . Bicycles, kayaks, snorkel gear listed as attractions either was not available or completely out of service. The two local staff tried hard and did a good job with what they had.
Our friends booked for the five of us thru Airbnb and it has been a complete disaster. From the quick talking salesman owner to the supposed unit upgrade ( because the original was not cleaned yet).bedding that was old, stained pillows, holes in sheets, miss match kitchen dishes and utensils( insufficient amount), curtains dirty and stained, patio doors that would not open without Vaseline applied( door windows separating from frame),outdoor furniture dated old and stained or broken, pool with green intake and out take valves and edges.no cafe or bar. Air condition broke down With no windows to open. Finally we had someone come into our unit while we were sleeping and doors locked and we got robbed. Owner did not contact us at any time during our stay( he left and went back to states). My husband and I left not long after when I found other accommodations. Now trying to get reimbursed. Don’t recommend this place.…
We stayed a week at the Nautical Inn. Peter and Carol were great hosts. They were friendly and helpful. They had the perfect laid back attitude of Placencia. What we like about the Nautical Inn was that it was a quiet peaceful place. Our room walked out to the view of the water. There was a very nice pool and a dock to walk out on and relax on. Our room had air conditioning. We felt safe here and just took common sense precautions like keeping our valuables out of sight and locking our room whenever we left. Also, our room had a fridge. That was helpful to keep our Belikins cold. I believe not all rooms have them. The negative was that the Inn is far away from Placencia Village or Maya Beach. We did have friends that were able to take us places but without them we would have had to rely on taxis to get around. And this was not the fault of the Inn but the sea grass was awful . It is that where every where in Belize by the water. All in all , we enjoyed our stay.…
An adult family of three stayed in the Tuscan room for a week recently. The room was very comfortable,(including the beds), view is wonderful and certainly sleeping was so peaceful with the waves just a stones throw away. Swimming in the ocean and the pool, magnificent. This was a great place to enjoy plenty of R & R. On the down side: The beach on either side of the Inn was not maintained making a walk on the beach undesirable. The canoes, kayaks and bicycles were all out of service, even though the website says different. Sand flies can be a real downer if they like you and they certainly did like one of us....so may bites, go figure. On site food, quite limited, but truly, real effort is underway to change that. I wish Peter and Carol the best in there endeavors.. No room service offered.…
We spent 3 nights at over $250 a night what a rip off. Rugs with holes in them, old sheets, spring mattress, smells so bad if you have breathing issues skip this place. Disappointed! Staff was very friendly.
There were lots of pros and cons with this place: Proximity to the beach is amazing, your door opens to the ocean. Excellent view. The ocean was calm and you can walk 100 ft before it gets deep, good for kids but you have to watch for jellyfish. Pool was great and pool area was very nice as well. The host was very friendly and gave us great recommendations on activities in the area. The room advertised a coffee maker and microwave, we had neither but did have a fridge. There is a local fruit/vegetable vendor just across the street which sell great local produce. The town is a 10 minute car ride, you cannot walk it, so if you don't have a car you are stuck relying on a taxi. There are no real restaurants in the area. You can't walk around at night along the beach or in the area as is is not recommended. The area is extremely poor and dirty, my kids called it sketchy. The garbage and pollution in the area is atrocious. The staff clean the beach regularly because of the seagrass and garbage that floats in daily. If you walk beyond your beach, the shore is one of the most disgusting beaches I have ever seen. There is tons of garbage, knee deep along the beach for miles. I was extremely disappointed in the beaches along this stretch. Although this hotel does a great job maintaining the beautiful beach the area surrounding it is horrendous. It's nearly impossible to walk along the beaches here. There are also sand flies so we left with many bug bites.…
Just returned from from a week in paradise. Stayed at Eagles Nest on the beach. Amazing hosts, wonderful staff, great food. Be advised this is not a cookie cutter hotel, but a wonderful place with a 24/7 relax vibe. Lots of wonderful amenities but the best amenity was the staff who made us all feel special. Not sure why I am writing this review as I really do not want anyone else to discover this gem in case they are all booked up next year! Thanks everyone for an awesome week!
Place was adequate. Looks like it has had better days. The 2 staff we saw were very nice and helpful. Not sure if the place is on the upswing or down. Right in a small village, but nobody bothers you. Couple of stores to get snacks, beers and soda if you like. They don't really keep anything at the resort. We were told that they do serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. But you have to order the day before so they can go buy the food. We were also warned by local to not leave anything lying around, some problems with petty theft in the area. It's not fancy, so if you don't mind being secluded and don't need much to get by this may be your place.
Nautical Inn served a purpose the past 3yrs I've stayed there because it kept me close to family that lives in Seine Bight Village. There are much nicer hotels nearby on the peninsula, but again I chose to stay here because it was the closest hotel to family. I last visit on August 11th for a week and sadly it will be the last time I stay at this hotel due to unscrupulous business dealing by the owner Roger. To make a long story short, Roger reached out to me last year before my annual visit and requested I bring him printer ink since it was a lot cheaper here in the states, so out of good faith I made the purchse and brought them with me and gave them to him. We didn't get a chance to settle up on the purchase last year because Roger left for Europe the very next day after I arrived, but I figured I'd be back this year so we can always settle up then. Instead, I ended up getting into a conversation with Roger on how he had deeply discounted the room for me and therefore reimbursing me for the full amount of the ink toners was not going to happen. Needless to say, I prepaid the room at least a month in advance of my travels and he never mentioned once about deducting the cost of the ink toners from the room because he wanted to keep the reimbursement of the ink toners separate from room charges. In the end, we settled on him reimbursing me for half of what I paid for the ink toners and I just chalked up the remaining balance to the cost of not having to do business with Nautical Inn anymore. The thanks I got for what i thought was a good faith gesture.…
The super helpful staff (Anna and Cyrell) mad our stay memorable. The beach location is beautiful, thanks in large part to Cyrell's hard work of cleaning it every morning. Beautiful dock and beach area great for swimming or just relaxing. Spacious accommodations, older but well maintained. Better than a luxury resort; not isolated and separated from the real life of the folks in the area, rather you can learn and become a part of the daily life as much as you wish or as little as you wish. Thanks.
