Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is a study in contrasts, offering a blend of modern and dated features, as noted by guests. While the rooms are consistently praised for their cleanliness and comfort, some visitors suggest updates are needed, particularly for soundproofing and upkeep. The hotel staff receives accolades for their exceptional service, although experiences can vary. Many travelers find the hotel's amenities, including the pools, to be a highlight, despite some calls for improved maintenance. However, some guests question the overall value, pointing to the cost of amenities and dining options.

We stayed here with our entire family, including grandkids, over the Presidents' Day weekend. FHS is close to Discovery Ski Area and Georgetown Lake, both wonderful recreational spots in this part of Montana.

Booking was easy, once they were 'open' for the Presidents' Day deals, and service at the desk was friendly and efficient. The hotel has been remodeled since we last stayed and the lobby is warm and inviting. The rooms themselves are adequate. Ours had a parking lot view, two queen beds, microwave and refrigerator. There were outlets on the desk lamp for charging devices. The bed was comfortable enough, towels adequate and plenty of hot water.

The main drawback was the noise level during early morning (before 7) and late night (after 11) hours. I don't know how hotels manage rowdy guests but we were seconds away from calling the front desk with complaints, both nights. Oh, and there was a strong smell of marijuana outside our rooms when we checked in and accessed our rooms. So apparently, the 'no smoking' and $350 fine isn't enough to deter some. Perhaps law enforcement could be called in the future?

The hot pools are fine, but do bring a warm bathrobe with you should you desire to access the outdoor pools (one at moderate temperature and one very hot) in winter because otherwise it's quite chilly moving between pools. Pool towels are small and were not always available as we entered the pool area. The children loved the slide. Indoors are also two pools, a really hot small pool and a very large moderate temperature pool. Barside available but many seem to byo!

My family and I visited the resort for 6 days and were looking forward to a nice relaxing vacation. The pools were fantastic and service was very good. Staff were courteous and helpful. They are certainly lacking in the maintenance department though. We booked a suite for our stay and there were many issues that could have easily been addressed with some maintenance checks. It seems that there is no communication between the cleaning staff and the maintenance crew. A few of the items were loose locks on the balcony doors, broken screens, refrigerator missing door shelves, loose bathtub faucet handle, shower rod was loose and hanging downward, mis-matched ceiling paint, and the finishes on the furniture was extremely worn which could be easily touched up. Out by the pool were cardboard boxes of supplies which were obviously very weather worn and had been sitting outdoors for quite some time. If no indoor storage available then some basic locking outdoor storage units would look much better than this. Again, basic simple attention to detail and processes for repairs and quality checks would make this place shine.

I have loved coming here over the years since I was a kid. We usually come stay a few times a year and every time I come things seem to keep going downhill. I'm by no means used to fancy hotel stays, and fairmont used to be my fancy hotel splurge. But in recent years it has been less than ideal for the price they are charging. The pool area for me is always amazing, its everything else. The resturant menu has been cut back so much that almost nothing looks good on it. The cable has almost no channels other than infomercials and the news. My shower nozzle didn't work and everything was worn down. Mattresses line the hallways. For me the biggest thing is shutting down the pool at 10, one of the biggest reasons we always chose this destination is becasue the pools never closed. But apparently covid strikes from 10pm and 7am so they shut the pools down for saftey 🙄. I never write reviews and hate to leave a negative one but I'm hoping the owner makes some changes or at least put it back to its original glory, then I wouldn't mind paying 200-300 a night.

Every time i turn around they come up with a new way to disappoint us. No longer have yummy fruit infused water in the lobby? No, but we will charge $3 for a bottle of water and not provide any free bottles of water in your room. Need to drink water from the faucet? Fine, but the ice machine is out of order and we won’t bring ice or an ice bucket to your room. Restaurant closed down Until further notice the same day you arrive? Too bad, drive to Anaconda for your meals and pay full price for coffee from our restaurant after standing in line for 20 minutes.
It was 77 degrees in our room at 8:30 pm and when i called the front desk they said the air conditioning had been shut off starting the day before. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and I am Beyond frustrated with this place.

If you are planning to come to Fairmont Hot Springs I would tell you to change your plans. This establishment charges 4 star prices for 1 star service. The hotel is dirty, it doesn’t look like the rugs have been cleaned in years. The rooms are dated, I’ve stayed in nicer Travel Lodges. And don’t plan on having your room cleaned during your visit, the maids aren’t allowed in the rooms due to COVID restrictions. The beds are comfortable however, which is good because sleeping is about the only thing they don’t charge you extra for. People come here for mainly for the hot springs and the pool is nice. But if you or your kids want to use the water slide so prominently displayed on the web site it’s extra. Want to play frisbee golf or use the miniature golf course, same deal. The restaurants do supply tasty food, if you’re willing to wait for 50 minutes for Bacon and Eggs. The main dining room has the ambiance of a Denny’s, a very limited menu and slow service. 4 entrees, 2 of which are pasta dishes and a price tag that is ridiculous. If you stay here drive to Anaconda and eat there, only 10 minutes away and worth it for your taste buds and wallet. The only reason I didn’t give a 1 star rating is because of the pools, spend all your time there.

Half eaten cookie. Yes.

After 6 hours on the road my husband and I checked into the Resort. We are Seniors and looked forward to our first outing and a therapeutic soak. It was a seamless check-in. Our room was a double queen bed room. The condition of the room was barely passable. Very poorly maintained the furniture had nicks and scrapes, the slider to the patio was very difficult to open with dirty glass, cigarette butts lodged between patio and room and inside was dusty. The toilet was not secure to the bathroom floor and rocked. I carried antibacterial wipes and sanitized all the solid surfaces in the room as we have been cautious with Covid19.
After settling in we spent an hour in the hot pool then returned to our room to change for our dinner reservations at The Café. Walking the halls to dinner we noticed the property was run down and clearly poorly managed with debris and room service dishes piled outside rooms. To their credit there were Hand Sanitation stations located in the common areas.

Service and social distancing was very good in the Café and dinner was o.k. Ready for bed I turned down the covers on my bed to find a partially eaten cookie in the sheets. Seriously?

The night manager offered us a different room, which was actually clean and comfortable, but with the move to a different room (without any assistance from staff) and our disappointment and disgust at the condition of the original room and property as a whole was totally unacceptable. Never again.

My kids and I stayed 3 nights and was disappointed in our room, room was dirty, beds were uncomfortable. Place has many maintenance issues. Most staff was on there cell phones, no life guards or seemed no one cared. Overpriced rooms, front desk didn't make you felt welcome, made us feel we were a burden. Pool staff smoking Marijuana. Staff has no training of any sort when it comes to the pool or customer service. Pools were nice, but overall disappointing.

We spent $350 on a studio sweet. When we arrived, the front desk attendant was polite, but only her and one other member on staff acted kindly towards us the duration of our stay. Personally, I think it takes more effort to act like you hate life and your job than to put a smile on your face and do it the right way. That was disappointing. Even my little one commented on one staff member by saying, “Mommy, she mad!”
Regarding the room, it looked like someone had thrown the room together without taking the time and effort to ensure it was clean and stocked. There was food and other debris all over the carpet area. The fridge had its own fair share of leftover food particles. We weren’t quite sure if the tub was properly cleaned either. In considering the amount of illness floating around during the time of our travel, and also having a two year old with us, I had to start my trip by cleaning our room. The room also had minimal dish wear which made cooking difficult. If you offer a full kitchen, you have to have the staff members ensure it is stocked.
The pool itself was nice and our little one enjoyed splashing in the water. Still, it would seriously take a miracle to get me to pay to stay there again to simply enjoy the pool. The hotel should consider going back to opening the pool to the public. The building is old, outdated, and dirty. Eating there is also expensive! Don’t make people break the bank to take their child swimming in a warm pool.

The only good thing about this place are the hot springs pools. Front desk staff were not welcoming or friendly. The food at the restraunt was awful( we had to send back and drive to Butte for dinner). The $30 Prim rib tasted like old spoiling meat and salad greens were wilted and slimy. We were afraid of getting sick. The waitress seemed annoyed at us for sending food back. Rooms were okay and clean but could use some repair. Furniture in room was rather scratched up and lamp was broken. Hot springs felt great though. Seems like management needs to educate staff on customer service and hospitality.

Going waaaay downhill!! We have come to this place for over 25 years and have had so many amazing memories... but to say this trip was a disappointment is an understatement. First they charge a great deal for a very basic room. I love the setting so didn’t even think about that. Then no maid service whatsoever. In the “fancy”dining room we paid an average of $39 a meal for basic overdone bland pasta, an overcooked and small steak, and salmon that came from Costco and bland overcooked prime rib. Even though we had planned on dessert... no way was I going to risk that. I’ve never seen drinks as small as these. The employees try to put on a good front but it’s easy to tell they are not happy. We couldn’t even get a pizza after swimming. My best advice is to move down the road or at least eat in Butte!

I am uncertain if they allow pets. Sorry, I can't imagine why not though, within reason. A pet opossum might be an issue.
