We really enjoyed staying here. it's about a 5-10 minute lovely walk to the town center.if you like some peace and quiet while sleeping, this is the place for you. Our room was very large, tall ceilings, clean, and had a beautiful balcony looking right over the lake. Stunning. They have lakefront access. I would recommend this hotel if you're... More

Excellent Hotel. Managed by a Hungarian family and run extremely well. Food is buffet style and very well made and stocked. My children loved the lake and they would have enjoyed a ride on a boat. But none were available. So after skiing they went back to their Sony PlayStations. The family who run this establishment are retiring. Good Luck... More

Frank and Maria will be sorely missed next year when the hotel reopen in a more upmarlet price category - simple but hearty food and good ambience. Vg postiion with own lido area. Stayed once and eat there when staying at SeeRose - a v clean no frills B&B in a good position. Will consider when it re-opens in 2017

Lovely food, very friendly atmosphere. The family who run it unfortunately are no longer going to be there next season. The gardens are right on the lake bank. The building is in need of some updating but we had a lovely time.

This year was our last visit to our favorite Austrian home from home at the Leifer, Feranc and Maria are going into retirement and Feranc jr and wife Christina are moving into other areas of the local tourism industry. We have had five years of very happy and enjoyable visits to the Leifer and the family have always been openly... More

this hotel has great food, a marvellous position, very friendly, clean and comfortable, it is very rustic and is rather old fashioned but that adds to its character.it is on the fringe of the centre, but very handy for the ferries and buses.

Had a short break at this hotel, have been to Austria many times but never to 'The lakes'. This hotel is right on the lakeside on a quiet road. Easy to spend all day sitting beside the lake or bathing safely in it. If feeling really energetic you can walk all round (approx. 17 miles), but the boats are another... More

In June 2015 we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel, which is indeed very conveniently located very close to the mountain railway and the lake steamer, and a short walk into town. Amenities are on the basic end of things but our room was very good, food was good and plentiful, and the staff very efficient and helpful.... More

We have just arrived back after another fantastic two weeks (this being our fourth time at the Dr.Leifer) I think that speaks for itself who would return to a hotel so dire as other reviewers have stated Maria and family are the salt of the earth. Granted the hotel is in need of a refurb there again the owners fault... More

There is a saying that you get what you pay for, but sometimes you get that little extra. There are many smarter, more expensive hotels in St Wolfgang than the Dr Leifer but it would be hard to find a hotel run by nicer people or one with a better view. As some people have said the hotel is in... More
