Thanks to Karen, Paul, and Mike for a great stay. This is our first time staying here and the cabin was wonderful, very clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. We loved the line dry sheets that smelt so fresh. Ohhhh and the wonderful fresh baked bread that Karen baked herself....that our kids devoured. The last time my husband had been at the NWA was 22 years ago, we will not be waiting that long again. Fishing was great!! Thanks for the hospitality at Jakes!!

We had quite the crew with 16 people staying in the two largest cabins! Karen and Paul were not only amazing hosts but Paul was a great fishing guide! The cabins were very comfortable, clean and relaxing! We all enjoyed the patios each night and being able to wander around the resort and town. I will say the weather was not the best but that didn't damper any of our spirits. We went fishing two days with guide and had a great time catching fish having conversation and the delicious shore lunch Paul cooked up. I will say I am not a huge fish water. But the fish was so great and I had the best potatoes of my life! Karen also was so helpful when we needed to purchase our fishing licenses! We can't thank them enough for the hospitality and wonderful cabins and fishing! I can't wait to bring my family back?

I was a bit concerned coming here with my fisherman husband, and jumping on a boat to watch him fish for hours. But the first few minutes with Paul Colson, owner, put me right at ease. He quizzed me on what I would like to do, on this eight hour fishing trip. Well it's all about photography for me, and soon he was showing me Bald Eagles, Common Loons and White Pelicans, plus the scenery is amazing. Not only was he paying attention to my needs, my hubby was busy fishing and we both had a terrific eight hours. Paul told me his goal was to make me want to come back on the second day of fishing. And sure enough,my camera and I were right on board the second day. I loved it. The eight hours on both days went flying by. Also Paul cooked us lunch each day with my hubby's catch of Walleye . We were soon on a beautiful island, and watching Paul make us lunch was amazing. He fixed the fish three different ways, fried, poached ( my favorite) and blacken. Plus veggies , potatoes/rice . I told him "nothing is more sexy than watching a man cook me lunch" on a deserted island, surrounded by all the beauty of Northwest Angle. I might add on coming home the first day of fishing/photography, we found a homemade loaf of hot bread waiting for us in our cabin baked by his wife, Karen. Talk about wonderful! Also our cabin was perfect. Clean and plenty of room. And yes, I would come back in a minute.

My wife and I returned from Jake's Northwest Angle fishing resort yesterday. The cabin was comfortable, well-furnished, and less rustic than we expected. The owners, Karen and Paul Colson, are great people and took care of our every need. Paul was our guide and provided an excellent boat and tackle. Fishing for walleyes and muskies was good and the lake and islands were breathtakingly beautiful. You must provide your own food. The kitchen was well equipped. A basic but good restaurant five miles away serves three meals daily. If you love nature, fishing, photography, or remote places I highly recommend Jake's resort.

We have been going to this resort for many many years. Karen and Paul Colson are the owners and you will never find anyone that takes the time and effort to make sure your stay is everything you expect . Gas is available along with protected boat mooring and a private launch .Resort has cottages that will accommodate 2-7 people . If you fish the Lake of the Woods area this is your place to stay .
