My son, who is 14 and I, wanted to get away for three days and do some biking in the Albert Lea area and just hang out and swim at a hotel for a mini vacation. When we arrived, the pool was being serviced and they told us it would be six hours before it reopens because the chlorine levels were off...It never did open the two days we ended up staying. They did tell us that we could use the pool next-door at the Best Western but we didn’t want to traipse across the parking lot with our swimsuits at night. When we walked into our room it smelled very mildewy. I brought this up with the front desk and the second day they had someone come and clean our air-conditioning unit and that made it much better. The beds were pretty comfortable. That’s about the only good thing I can say. Our Wi-Fi connection to our room which was right on main floor behind the lobby desk was not great, It was slow and kept dropping. The front desk told me that it was because the internet traffic was “busy” ...that could not the case as for the two days we were there; it was spotty all the time. We went next-door to the Best Western Plus, to check out their Wi-Fi signal and it was fine. I inquired about staying there and seeing some rooms as it seemed much more updated. The front desk person at the Best Western told me that the same owner owns both hotels. However switching hotels was much more complicated. The AmericInn told me I had to cancel 24 hours in advance the day before I got there if I wanted to leave after the first night. So we had to stay two nights at the AmericInn our third night we stayed next-door at the Best Western plus. I will review that hotel on their TripAdvisor Link. To wrap it up, I would say the people that I interacted with at the Best Western were much more genuine than the Manager at AmericInn. And the Best Western had a much more breakfast choices. All of this was interesting to me because the owner was the same for both hotels and the price of the hotels was about the same. If you want a larger pool area, the AmericInn had a larger pool area for sure; that would be the one BIG difference I would note between the two hotels. Call ahead to see if the pool is open.

This place was ok. Had made reservations online so check-in was fast. (about 1 min max. Location right off I-90. Not too much around, but Applebee's and McDonald's right next door across the parking lot. Rooms ok. Everything worked. Average Wyndham breakfast with waffles. Would stay here again.

The Hotel is showing its age, But the Owners are keeping it up nicely. I noticed 2 small details to improve on, the venieer is slighting coming off the bottom of the desk and some patch work of plaster by the ac unit, which should be replaced before the next guest stays in the unit #125. Good breakfast,

Booked through a third party website, so I did not know the name until after I paid. Check in went smoothly. Pool area seemed a little run down. Drinking fountain didn’t work, hot tub was super loud and no pool towel shelf. The front desk clerk put some towels over chairs for our family when we entered however, another group (I don’t think they were staying there) took them and used them all. I am grateful I brought in my own pool towels. Room was ok, nothing exciting. Breakfast in the morning was ok. This hotel could use a little bit of love.
