This Quality Inn is highly rated by Trip Advisor and deservedly so. Rooms are reasonably spacious and clean. Carpets have been recently replaced. My room had a faint odor of smoke, but I don't blame the hotel for this. Once someone has smoked in a...More

For a 3 star hotel it certainly didn't act like it. It was clean not run down and the staff was very friendly. The rates were well worth it especially when it includes breakfast. More than worth a stay.More

I grew up in this area, but am now over 60 and only visit it on the average of once a year, not for shopping, but for a family reunion; it has changed a great deal in the last 30 or 40 years. There is a huge, fairly new complex of stores at the intersection of I-75 and Baldwin and Joslyn Roads. When I grew up in Pontiac it was a nice, medium-sized city. Now it is now a slum like Flint, subsisting on federal monies, not quite as bad as Detroit, Gary, IN or East St. Louis--but a failed city. Avoid it in favor of smaller towns and villages like Waterford, Clarkston, Rochester, Auburn Hills, Lake Orion and Oxford. I can't tell you anything about Davisburg, Ortonville, and the rural/suburban area between Pontiac and Flint, except that these are more places where people fled when Pontiac and Flint were losing factories and being taken over by corrupt and venal governments. I'm sorry, I don't about smokeshops, but would tend to look for them in upscale communities like Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Southfield, Farmington and the like. Who knows whether crusading ladies of the Temperance variety have made it illegal to open a cigar store in places like that? When I attended Wayne State University in Detroit there was a Cuban neighborhood near the campus where I KNOW they were smoking cigars "imported" from a certain island in the Caribbean that wasn't the Dominican Republic.
