I was attending a 3 day conference/workshop. There was a bit of a mix up in room a first, but they were quick to resolve the issue. They have friendly staff at the front desk, willing to help out anyway possible. They are doing so remodeling, and when done will look very nice.

This hotel is true to the Hilton and Embassy Suites brand. Nice facility in a really nice community. You can relax in your room and dine well on the property or venture out to good places nearby. This place does a great job supporting the rigors of the road by providing a comfortable stay without having to leave the building.

My stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Auburn Hills 2300 Featherstone Road was terrible. I previously stayed at this hotel before it was rebranded an Embassy Suites, and that stay was also not great with similar problems. As I recall the air conditioning didn't function properly, the room wallpaper was peeling, and there was black mold in the shower. I experienced these same conditions during this visit. Ironically, I stopped in and asked if the rooms were updated during the rebranding to Embassy Suites and I was told that the entire hotel was redone. The only part of the hotel that was changed was the Embassy Suites signage and the atrium on the main floor of the hotel. I was disappointed to find that the air conditioning was still an issue; it was off and took over an hour to cool off my room on the 5th floor of the hotel. I checked in at 1:30 am and was out at 6 am, there was no hot water in the suite; therefore, I had to take an ice-cold shower. When checking out I brought this to the attention of the front desk person Angela, and she said while tilting her head to the side and said "oh well" I asked "what?" she replied, "well, life happens." I was taken aback by her attitude and asked to speak with a manager. I waited for roughly 10-minutes for Austin Moyer, the General Manager, to arrive. I . explained my concern about the hot water and Angela's behavior, and he had the same dismissive tone as Angela was shocked. These people are in the hospitality business and could care less about this or any other issue. While waiting for Austin to arrive, two other guests approached the front desk with complaints. One complained of their room smelling like cigarette smoke and black mold, and the others saw a mouse or rat in the fitness room. The later upset Angela who was disgusted by the vermin in the fitness room, imagine how the guests feel? I don't understand why these two employees Angela and Austin Moyer the General Manager, work in an industry that they have such disdain.
