Stayed for a weekend to celebrate 19 years of marriage with hubby.... check in went well, staff during check in very professional, friendly and helpful (accommodated late check out request, told us about an IHG promotion and welcomed us as IHG Gold Elite members). Got our keys and headed to our room.... here’s where it all went downhill, but we didn’t know it would continue. Arrived at our door to go in and one of the keys didn’t seem to work, we used the second key we received and went on into our room to drop our bags and head out for eats and fun! Returned to our room late that evening and tried to enter our room and the working key no longer worked. We went back down to get new keys and told front desk one of the keys didn’t work upon entering after check-in. A manager was standing in ear shot and replied, “sorry about that we’re long overdue for a new key system.” The lady behind the counter apologized and provided us with two new keys. Next day comes and we leave to have breakfast and do some shopping, we return that afternoon and head to our room only to see that our keys (neither of them) do not work. Frustrated we returned to the desk (with all our shopping bags) and say our keys don’t work, yet again. Also sharing what the manager said about needing new key system. This front desk person says, “I haven’t had many problems, sometimes people come and stay for weeks and never have a problem and other times we get this (meaning our experience).” Return to our room with new keys, nap and some “other stuff” :) then head out for some evening fun! Rerun for the evening and GUESS WHAT? Yep, you’re right. The keys didn’t work! Tuh! I’m so aggravated right now. I stay in the hall and sit on the floor as my hubby head back down to get the keys. Got the keys and change to go to hot tub which is 24 hours for adults.... these same NEW KEYS should get us into the pool, but GUESS WHAT? They don’t! Forget the whole idea, we’re going to our room but not before we get more keys. Final day, we go to eat breakfast in hotel restaurant and then say we’ll jump in hot tub (remember we have late check out). Ate our breakfast (I’ll rate the restaurant next :( and go across the hall to have some water fun, nope keys don’t work. I approach the desk and explain the frustration with these keys and he says, “everybody know you gotta keep em away from cell phones, but I’ll get maintenance to check out the lock on your room.” WHAT? First of all “everybody” doesn’t know anything (but we did know about that) and secondly you made an assumption that we deactivated the keys EVERY TIME and finally he made a statement that made no sense to fix the problem.... it’s obvious the keys weren’t just to our room, they didn’t work for pool door or workout room door (and yes we’d explained that)! Definitely won’t go back here until they have a new key entry system in place .... happy anniversary to us!

Checked in with no problem, front desk person extremely professional and accommodating (late check out, lowest rate available for same day booking). Room was very nice and bed super duper comfy! Good room amenities and clean. Here’s the frustration.... when we went up to our room from check-in keys didn’t work, thought it was a fluke and went to get new keys and returned to our room. Next day, went out to shop, eat and enjoy the day .... came back and keys didn’t work yet again. Went to from to front desk to explain the issue and there was two people up front (one behind counter and one standing talking to front desk person.... later found out it was a supervisor standing outside of desk). Supervisor said, “sorry about that we need a new key system this always happens.” We got our keys and returned to our room. Went out for some late night fun and returned. GUESS WHAT? You guessed it, keys don’t work again. Once again, went and got new keys. This time the front desk person said, after I explained our continued issue, “you must be putting these keys near a phone, everybody knows you can’t do that.” Tuh! I didn’t appreciate that statement.... “everybody” doesn’t know anything and secondly you made a huge assumption! It’s now our final day (remember we have a late check out), we go to the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, decide to go to pool for a minute before we nap and leave, and sure enough our key didn’t work to get into pool area (same key as our hotel room). What do we do? Walk over to desk to get a new key.... we were asked for ID, which we didn’t have because it was in our room that we couldn’t get in. I told him our FRUSTRATIONS on keys since we arrived and he says, “I’ll have maintenance check the lock on your room.” Tuh! What will that help sir, the keys don’t work in ANY area and not just our room. This is not a room lock entry it’s a keying issue (in my opinion, he simply made a statement without thought behind a real resolution which is what frustrated me even more. I’ve never been so glad to return keys and leave a hotel room before! Oh, let’s talk about the restaurant on site..... manager kind and accommodating but food came out wrong twice! It was simply an omelet, nothing fancy just an omelet. Happy 19th wedding anniversary to us huh! But the bed was comfy ;)

Hello Tericka L, It was great to have you at our Crowne Plaza Auburn Hills to celebrate your 19th wedding anniversary. Congratulations! Our guest comfort and success are paramount. I am at ease to know that you found our vibrant front desk team to be hospitable and check-in was a walk in the park. Glad to now that you found our rooms clean and with complete amenities. I hope our comfy beds gave you that much-needed rest. It could have been a stress-free stay had our key cards work perfectly. I am sorry for the hassle. I am alerting our Maintenance team to check on this. While it's great that our restaurant manager was kind and accommodating, the service should have been seamless. I feel your disappointment that your order came out wrong. We truly value your feedback and always use this as a tool for improvement. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again soon. Till next time, Deborah R. Case Manager IHGService

Had a golf outing early the next day at Devils Ridge. Got in late and left early the next morning. Comfortable bed but overall the place does need a remodel as it’s a bit dated but certainly not the worst I’ve seen.

Short getaway for anniversary and shopping at nearby Great Lakes Crossing outlet mall. Convenient location. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean. Pool and hot tub were nice, and adult guests have 24 hr access which is very nice for night owls like us! Have to agree with a number of other reviews, though, seems a little dated and needs a little more detailed maintenance For example, the shelf for towels in the bathroom was quite loose and sagging, not a big deal, but c'mon! Housekeeping sees this everytime they do the room and put new towels on it! Just needs a couple screws tightened or replaced. There were a number of similar items around the property of a similar nature, and I don't think we are nitpicky at all about such things. Time for a make-over and a little more polish to bring it up to its potential. But we did have a nice enough stay, especially with a good rate from a "secret hotel" deal on another travel site.

Generally the place is looking rather empty and neglected. Receptionist on checking in seemed a bit spaced out, not understanding anything we said and just nodding condescendingly. Receptionist on day two was on the phone as we wanted to ask for more coffee for the room, stayed on the phone without acknowledging us until a guy came from a back office and asked if he could help, she soon put the phone down and asked what we wanted! On checking out we were not given an invoice.
