Detailed Reviews
This was a excellent choice to stay . The staff was super friendly and super helpful . They found us a driver from Sucre to Uyuni on short notice . They suggested a great restaurant to eat . The hotel and our Royal room was spotless and beautiful . It is two minute walk to the main square with shops and restaurants all around . The area was really safe .

We stayed at San Marino Royal for two nights and it surpassed our expectations. We arrived one day earlier than our booking reservation due to some health issues. We were not charged any extra (although they could according to booking) and we were upgraded to a suite as it was available with no extra money. We asked for a road facing room and we were transferred to an even better room with jacuzzi (although we never used it) and a short of balcony !!
The room was spectacular, spacious, spotless, with character and comfortable. We really loved it -- it was the best room during our trip in Bolivia and --- what an irony --- the one that costed us less !! :)
Staff were polite and helpful and we finally found people that speak English in Bolivia. The hotel is in superb location, one min from the main Plaza and offer also laundry service (although more expensive than the ones you can find at the street, however it was convenient for us to pay some extra cash and have a decent service without getting out of the hotel)
Too bad it was winter and could not enjoy the terrace-patio breakfast area. Breakfast was rich, we were not thrilled but it was adequate (especially if you love sweets)
We really enjoyed our stay there -- highly recommended

This excellent property has lots of colonial charm, helpful desk staff [limited English] and comfortable clean rooms. Only a block off the Plaza 25 de Mayo in central Sucre, this was a great base location for seeing the city, at a very reasonable price. It's been meticulously maintained, and cleaned.
There are great restaurants on the same block, and many more around the Plaza 25 de Mayo. The large central market is on the next block behind the hotel, and a must see as well. There are 4 stories of rooms, and we asked for and got rooms away from the street, facing into a lovely open courtyard. There is a rooftop terrace with lovely city views, but there were few chairs available. The included breakfast was very good. There is WiFi but I didn't personally use it. There are 3 internet computers available for use in the lobby.
There is a communial hot tub on the rooftop level, with a sauna. The sauna was great, but the hot tub failed to fill up adequately to use. Both were available and prepared for us on request.

we liked the location, very close to a great central plaza, and the interior architecture, but the good parts stop here.
the room was very cold (in february), the water was cold (we left it running for 5-6 minutes and it finally warmed up), there was no place to put your soap or a towel, there was no hairdryer. the room was noisy, at 10-11 pm there were a lot of noises so we couldn't sleep until midnight or so. not enough power outlets, we had to unplug some TV placed very high on the wall to find an outlet, etc.
but the worst part was about to happen the next morning, after we left: the desk receptionist said everything is fine at the checkout (my friend reserved and paid with his credit card via Expedia and he had a payment confirmation) and arranged for us to go to the airport with the hotel's shuttle bus. we were in a big hurry, because the driver picked us up with a 15 min delay. at some point, the driver had a phone talk with the hotel receptionist (while driving) and then he told us we have to go back because the desk said they didn't get their money from Expedia, so the room isn't paid! we insisted that he has to take us to the airport or else we'll miss the plane! he finally accepted, but all the way he talked again with the desk person. at the airport, he followed us constantly, embarrassing us, and insisting that we should give him the money in cash! we showed him the payment confirmation from expedia (email on the iphone) and explain that expedia will pay them. but he didn't want to give up. he was always on our trails, and after we checked in and went to boarding he went to the airport security and reported us!!! we were questioned by some security guys in the boarding area in sucre airport, and then after we landed in Santa Cruz, we were intercepted by a security officer, telling us that they have a complaint that we didn't pay the hotel. there is no need to mention the high level of stress i had because of this hotel receptionist and driver. finally the security staff saw our payment confirmation email from expedia and let us go.
but they generated a situation that could have turned pretty bad for us.

I arrived with a confirmed booking for 7 nights to find the hotel was not expecting me and could not offer me any reasonable alternative. I was obliged to stand in the lobby with my laptop and try to secure an alternative hotel on the spot. There was no apology, or offer of assistance. The booking site followed up to discover that the hotel had had system problems which had not been fixed, and they had not notified the site.
BTW, the Hotel Independencia, where I ended up, was a better hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly in contrast.

Hotel is well located near the main Plaza. It could be that we just had a bad room but I didn't leave wanting to come back! The rooms are round an open foyer, which in the case of our room meant that there were no windows looking out and this made the room airless and stuffy. There were windows looking into the centre of the hotel but they were small and created no breeze.
The shower kept flooding the bathroom as it was badly designed and the whole room seemed dark and gloomy. Breakfast was pretty poor compared to other hotels we stayed at.
The other problem was that noise seemed drift up from the foyer and into the room. This meant that if you are a light sleeper you could hear the TV in the foyer 2 stories up late at night.
On the plus side the staff were all very helpful.

We usually stay in hostels but booked San Marino as a birthday treat. We were so disgusted at the pricing that we walked out. We booked a double bed luxury suite at 70 dollars a night. When we arrived we were told they were full and were offered a twin bed standard but told we would have to pay the same price. The substitute room was no better than the 5 dollar a night we’d stayed in the night before ! There was a whole in the ceiling, paint peeling off the walls, a big stain on the wall, builders working on the exterior of the wall loudly, the beds were hard and it smelt of excrement! None of the luxury that the price should afford. Also the reception is not English speaking and there was no hot tub or sauna or the majority of the amenities advertised online. To top it off the WiFi wouldn’t even work! We went back to reception who first offered a 20 dollar discount and then a different room (even though they were full 10 minutes earlier??) But we’d had enough by that point and left. In Bolivia for that price you can live like a king - there are far better options than this hotel in Sucre as we later found out. Go somewhere else prior reviews are outdated and inaccurate.

Great accommodation boutique hotel located within walking distance to the "Mercado central" (central market), plaza 25 de Mayo & La Recoleta. Spacious and spotless rooms with a small fridge and comfortable bathrooms (more towel racks are needed and cosmetic shelves). The lateral and back rooms have no natural light, only street view rooms have a window with access to natural light and ventilation. Breakfast is simple with a fresh selection of local fruit, pastries, cereals. Eggs have to be ordered included in your BB rate (our family particularly enjoyed the cheese omelette). The reception ladies are very kind and service oriented in their own low-profile kind of way. Security is not an issue in Sucre. We felt 100% safe in this hotel by leaving our personal belongings in the room without a safe. If carrying high amounts of cash, best to ask the reception if there is a safety deposit box. The "chukisaqueños" (local collective name for those born in Sucre) are lovely and kind people. Treat them with respect and you will only receive kindness and hospitality in return.

We stayed in the royal suite for the same price as a travel lodge in the UK.
Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and the whole room just felt like luxury. Located on the edge of the centre you are never far from food or shops. I came down with E.Coli (from another restaurant) and the hotel fond me a doctor and had a call out arrange. There was no issues with extending our stay either and the staff were very nice.

I'm not sure about all cards you should email the property for a more definite answer . We used Bolivian money most of the time because the exchange rate was in our favor .
Sorry I could not help more have a blessed day .Tbirdman
