Detailed Reviews
If you’re reading this review, thank you. I feel leaving reviews is such an unbiased way to share your experience with others. My wife had absolutely no idea I was planning this little getaway for 2 nights. With Covid, I wanted something a little less busy
than your typical hotel. My plan was to do hiking and visit local wineries as well as eat at local venues. Not to take away from some of the other
reviews, but I could not find flaw within this getaway. It was pleasantly tucked away from the hustle and bustle, which I found to be perfect. It wasn’t so far
that I felt it wouldn’t be worth the drive, I’m talking maybe 10-15 minutes depending on what you’re looking for.
First impressions mean a lot. Even before we
arrived, the communication was spot on!! Every text/email was received and corresponded. Once
we arrived, the staff met us at the front main office,
as discussed (which was left up to me). Check in was a breeze as the final reservation for the local dinner options and other amenities I selected prior to,
were discussed and finalized. We were given the okay to head to our room (Camelot). The room was spotless, I specifically looked for little hairs and
dust bunnies, but happily did not locate any. Everything was very clean. I was a little hesitate to use the spa tub (way before I arrived) because I’m a
germ-a-phobe, but after seeing it, jumped right in without any signs of nasties. It was very clean and inviting.
The breakfast, oh my..... droool!!!! It was to die for!!! I
thoroughly enjoyed it! They also accommodated my wife who prefers to eat a little lighter carbbed than I do. The grounds, although very early spring, were
absolutely stunning!! We enjoyed every trail the grounds had to offer, the gas fire pit, and the gazebo for evening wine. It truly was amazing! I bet
the summer and fall is just wonderful!! We crossed paths with several staff along the way, and each one of them said “hi”, which was a nice touch. I’m
hoping you’re not too bored yet, but I want to comment on the local options to eat real quick. The Salt Of The Earth was unreal! The food was
spectacular and definitely requires reservations. The Grill House, unfortunately was not at full operating capacity (due to Covid) but the chefs
cooked my ribeye perfectly! I could not complain if I wanted too.
Overall our entire experience was magical, and I
would not have traded a moment for anything. I
highly recommend the Castle in the Country! Thank you for your time and enjoy your private getaway!

Dear Guest, Wow! Thank you for such a generous review. You've given us, the staff and owners of Castle in the Country such a gift. You've also provided great insight into what other travelers want to know about what to expect with an experience here and also answered their questions about our property and the surrounding area. We hope to see you again.

This time we stayed in the room which overlooks the pond and celebrated the late winter/early spring of Michigan. We enjoyed a quiet evening in our well-appointed room after a nice walk through the trails in the woods and some quiet time down by the lake. Breakfast was great and our hosts did wonderfully well at making us comfortable and contented.

We just returned this afternoon from a 3 day 2 night stay at the Castle. We have stayed at numerous B&B's over the years and at many that lable themselves "romantic". From all the B&B's we stayed at, this one definitely earns its title. This B&B is very clean, there are plenty of towels for the jetted tub and shower in the room, staff was very attentive (came right away to relight the pilot light on the fireplace) and always had the coffee/snack area well stocked. Tthe grounds were clean and everything was available (this is March so paddle boats, kayaks etc. were not. I think the private grounds is what put this over the top. Trails were well marked, all the outside amenities were very clean and well maintained and just waiting for you to come sit and relax and enjoy them even now in the winter. The snow shoes looked new and werejust waiting for someone to come use them. Unfortunately, there was no snow on the ground while we were there. Because of so much acreage and well maintained trails, you never had to be concerned about encroaching on someone else's property and, to me, it just felt safer being on privately owned property. Breakfast was great both days and our one food request was honored. Need ideas on what to do or where to eat? They had plenty. Can't think of one single complaint or small gripe. You won't be unhappy if you chose the Castle. We stayed in Lady Guineviere's room and did not order any special packages.

Way overpriced. Wifi is terrible and unreliable, cable tv is outdated not even HD. Room cleanliness is definitely not a priority for them they are not disinfecting properly at all per the CDC guidelines. Rooms are not that nice they are cold an drafty with cob webs hanging from ceilings and lights. Jetted tub didn't function proper, the king size bed was very uncomfortable . Not a welcoming place. Then the housekeeping staff is obviously dishonest as they are attempting to charge me an extra $200 for the cheap robes that they have in the rooms- we did not even use them because they are so thin like a sheet but the housekeeper says we took them- she probably took them as she is clearly dishonest. I would NOT recommend anyone stay here unless you like being treated poorly and getting ripped off. There are better places around with honest staff and fair prices. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Thank you for your review. We always like to look back and find the original customer and reservation that resulted in the feedback we receive, but we were unable to find you in our customer database. If you did actually stay at our Inn and the experience you are describing here is truly one you had here at Castle in the Country, we would like to dig a bit further into the events around your stay as well as identify the staff members with whom you had such a terrible experience with. We would greatly appreciate it if you could contact us at (269)673-8054 and provide a bit more information for us, so that we can better determine the appropriate course of action to correct these issues.

We finally made it up to Castle for our first visit of the year, and as always we had such a great time. Ruth and Herb and all the staff did such a great job in taking all the proper steps with covid. We felt 100% comfortable being there, making our getaway exactly what it should be fun and stress free. Castle stands alone as one of the best places to go. Ruth did a amazing jobs on letting us know where to go to eat with what places were practicing the proper covid steps and which ones weren't. Its small things like that makes this place one of our favorites. We have been staying here for over 6 years, got married here and always tell all of our family and friends about this place. Thanks Castle for another memorable stay and see you in the fall.

My fiance brought me here so we could have a romantic weekend away, sans kids, to celebrate my birthday and spend some quality time together.
This place is definitely off the beaten path, in the best way! We approached at dusk on a winding country road, and Castle in the Country was beautifully illuminated with tasteful lighting.
Ruth greeted us upon our arrival and explained the details of our 2 night stay package, which was the "Royal Treatment Experience". She provided some recommendations of places to see and restaurants in the surrounding area. We ended up trying Salt of the Earth and Butch's and they were both excellent!
The restored Victorian home itself was so stunning and there was so much attention to detail. Even though our visit was towards the end of January, the weather was not as brutal as it could have been and we were even able to enjoy some wine and our picnic basket in the gazebo by the lake!
We stayed in the Kingdom Suite which was absolutely lovely. Again, fantastic attention to detail. We also enjoyed the in room hot tub and fireplace.
Everything was meticulously clean and you can tell the place is cared for extremely well.
There seemed to be many other guests during our stay I noticed in the dining area for brunch, but overall our stay was very quiet. Speaking of brunch, the included meals were delicious! It was also a nice touch that in the common area of the home, there was a self served fresh basked cookies, homemade granola and coffee area. Our room also had a Keurig inside of it.
I feel like I may have jumped around a bit in this review, but to sum things up, we absolutely LOVED our stay here. It was beautiful, quiet, quaint and whimsical. I imagine we will visit again sometime during the warmer months!

We stayed in the Crowning Suite in the main house. The host was accommodating to our late arrival which was very much appreciated. Suite has a Fireplace (we we used each night), a Hot Tub, DVD player and Keurig machine. TV could have been a little larger, but no big deal. It was nice to have use of a small refrigerator in the common area for my leftovers. The cookie was delicious and a nice surprise. Also appreciated that the fridge was stocked with various pop and water. Breakfast was a good portion and very good! Breakfast was served in another building on the property which you can walk or drive to. Definitely worth the splurge and would return in the future as well as recommend to others.

Nice grounds and room just ok. Booked a suite—paper thin walls, incredibly hot, and a ton of notes everywhere telling you what you can and cannot do. Absolutely rigid on check-in and breakfast times, a real shame.
Breakfast nice, but served at room temperature, not hot.
But at least this is a good location if you want to go to Saugatuck for the day, which is loads of fun—don’t miss the Sand Dune Rides, and good paddlewheel boat tour. Beautiful town too.

My husband and I spent a weekend at Castle in the Country (Lancelot Room) for our 19 year wedding anniversary. I can’t say enough about this wonderful place. The room was fantastic with an amazing view of the pond and the fall foliage. Each morning we had an exquisite breakfast delivered to the room. The owners really go above and beyond offering so many little extra amenities. A DVD library and book library to choose from, board games, cookies and snacks, and coffee tea and hot chocolate. We grabbed a to-go cup of hot tea and either took a walk on one of the hiking trails on the property, sat in the screened in gazebo listening to nature, or sat in the screened in boat house watching the sun set over the lake. The location is remote enough that we really felt like we got away from everything yet it is still close to great restaurants and only a short drive to so many other activities and parks. The staff was amazing. Very warm and welcoming and very thorough at explaining everything we were welcome to use on the property. The property and buildings are extraordinarily well kept. We found the app to be very helpful as well. This is a very unique place that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for an escape. We are already thinking about coming back for our 20th anniversary!

I had a booking with Castle in the Country, though they would not respond to any of my numerous message attempts, and every single message was ignored despite email confirmation it had been received. I found it to be very rude. If you are unable to for fill a request it should not be difficult to simply advise a customer. I luckily found somewhere else and was able to get a full refund, but was very disappointed about their lack of communication and unwillingness to respond to a guest. I still have never had a reply to this day, and this happened months ago.

Yes, I believe they do, but you have to request it.
Check in is between 4-6 upon booking there is a box asking what time you will arrive
Not sure on Uber/taxi in area never looked into it
Sorry, none of our rooms or suites have a balcony but we do have a private outdoor deck from the Camelot Suite. All other guests are welcome to enjoy the spacious wrap around porch, decks (one includes a fireplace for guest use) outdoor, screened gazebo and screened porch.
only in the camelot
If I were in charge, no problem, but then if others find this out then that could be a problem. I guess you can't make exceptions for one and not the other.
