We chose this hotel as it was renovated and close to the train system However it is located in a commercial sector. The rooms and floors have been redone and they are nice. The bed was comfortable but the hot water system took at least 20 mins to get hot. Breakfast and dinner package was basic but pleasant. The staff were very friendly

This is an average place. The room that was offered to us gave a bad smell and subsequently we were given a different room. The rugs in the room were very dirty and you don't even feel like walking on it. The drain in the bathroom gave trouble. When the wash basin tap was opened, waster came out (leak) of the floor drain. Although the aintenance staff attended to it, it could not be fixed and the issue persisted. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good.

At the end of our cruise to Dubai we met two of our Granddaughters for a 3 night stay in Dubai and chose the Gateway Hotel. Very well situated in the Old City - close to the Cruise Terminal and the Creek. Stayed in two interconnecting rooms on the second which were very comfortable and of good size. Very friendly and accommodating staff and good value for money. Adequate breakfast, and reasonable choice of main courses for Dinner, although would prefer more than one option for pudding! Recommended.

The Booking.com webite has this hotel listed as a "newly opened property". The lobby, reception and lounge area were very impressive. Unfortunately the rooms we were given didn't give the same good impression. We travelled as a group of eight ladies and we found 3 of the 4 rooms had mould growing on wallpaper and lamps to differing degrees. Our group stayed in rooms 214, 224, 225 & 248. Room 225 smelt very damp and musty and although a request was made for a room change, were told they were fully booked and there was no spare room available. Reception staff arranged for a "refresh clean" of room 225 which I think was just airfreshener sprayed around. Room 248 had water leak issues from the bathroom ceiling and after waiting a long time and many phone calls to reception to get the repair completed, they were changed to another room (I guess they weren't fully booked as stated 2hrs earlier??) Rooms here are cheap at 33AUD per person per night, but as it was stated as "newly opened property" we expected the lower price was based on distance from the city (about 8km, 15min taxi). None of our rooms looked light and airy as shown in the photo gallery. Our balcony door was locked, we could not get access to use it, but it was so dirty out there we wouldn't have spent any time on it anyway. The shower is over bath and shower head had two spray options but neither gave a decent pressure shower. Nice, good quality linen was used on beds and the towels in bathroom. Comfortable mattress and pillows. Good breakfast with lots of options offered. Outdoor rooftop pool area has no shade so we didn't spend any time up there. The lady on guest serices was lovely, friendly and helpful and then the lady on the hotel tour desk seemed really uninterested and bored with her job. So staff was a bit hit and miss. The rooms really were quite okay if it wasnt for the mould issue and for that reason I wouldn't recommend the hotel to family or friends based wholly on the mould.
