Discovered this while exploring the Al Fahidi cultural district in Dubai. Gorgeous gorgeous courtyards, with a tree in the middle. At the very least, get off your feet and have a juice or a coffee - that's what we did. Also ordered a roast bellpepper and carrot hummus -- came with Arabic bread. You can ask for the bread to...

A memorable 2 days spent at this lovely hotel. Such a breath of fresh air compared to the sterile gold and silver skyscrapers. The breakfast was delicious and healthy. The room full of character. The mosque is close so you will hear the call to prayer early..I loved it. Easy access to hop on off buses.

For the cost, I wouldn't return. While the setting is beautiful and the courtyard is lovely, the price just doesn't match the service. Parking was a hassle, check in was ok. Room was nice. Went to sit outside and the sofas and floor were dirty, hadn't been cleaned for a couple of days I would think. Restaurant power failed and...

We stayed in the "moon room" which was minimalist and we were totally fine with that. Most of our time was spent exploring the city! My husband and I both bumped our heads on the low doorframe to the bathroom -- and our 3-year-old son liked locking us in the bathroom (well, it happened just once). The roof space was...

The hotel was a quite oasis in busy Dubai. It is beautifully decorated with fantastic art works and each room had its own character. Outside the hotel you can wander around the old lanes with many galleries and an impressive selection of middle eastern art. I was impressed by the vibrancy of creative arts here. Our favourite spot was th...

In a city of soaring glass and chrome, the XVA, with its sweet rooms, lovely courtyard and rooftop open-air lounge, and vegetarian restaurant is a wonderful alternative in a good walking part of old Dubai.

It's my first time in Dubai and the only hotel I've stayed in. As I don't have anything to compare it to I don't feel it's right to give it over 4 stars. But I have already booked the same place for my next trip! Loved it.

This hotel is in the interesting Al Fahidi Neighbourhood on the Dubai Creek. We had a very happy three nights there and the staff could not have been more helpful and kind. Our mattress in Room 5 was rather too firm for us but Moses the Manager sorted things out very quickly. The call to prayer from the mosques is...

The XVA Art Hotel provided a wonderful experience and stay. Recommended by a discerning friend the hotel surpassed expectations. - food, atmosphere, history and art, all with the comfort of modern amenities. Within the complex the coffee museum, the little shops selling carpets, jewellery, and art made for a fascinating couple of days. Walking distance to the Dubai Creek, the...

Had a great stay at this resort. Staff is courteous, food was great, room was outstanding and the setting was one of a kind. I however was disappointed with the quality of their activities. The safari was subpar, the evening entertainment got boring after an hour and the falcon show was not really a show. We also did a guided...

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stylish and peaceful boutique hotel, XVA is set within the heart of Al Fahidi quarter, formerly known as Bastakiya, the oldest region of Dubai. Unique for its Persian architectural heritage, its maze-like alleyways and proximity to the Creek, Al Fahidi is viewed today as one of the cultural centrepoints of Dubai. XVA occupies a renovated traditional majilis-style building, boasting original architectural motifs and wind towers and three open courtyards, in which one can relax and soak up the exceptional atmosphere of this heritage space. XVA’s Art Hotel includes twelve boutique rooms, designed by well-established designers and artists from the region. These include Zayan Ghandour, Numa, Nada Debs & Karim Rashid (Gaia&Gino). The XVA Art Hotel is covered in many national and international travel publications. Featured in Condé Nast Traveller as one of the 10 hotels to stay in Dubai and in 2006 as the number 1 “Not To Miss” spot in Dubai, Wallpaper magazine mentioned us as a boutique hotel to stay. Lonely planet listed us twice in their recent Dubai guide as a place to stay and to have lunch.
