Artistic, very causy, Arabic ambience. Great breakfast with fresh products. Vegetarian diner possible. 10 minute walk to the Creek and Old souk. The hotel is in the middle of Al Bastakiya. A nice quiet place for a break as well

My wife and I just stayed at XVA Hotel for 3 nights and recommend it highly! The staff is wonderfully helpful and friendly, the room was beautiful and calming, and the location is great for walking around the old quarters, creek and souks. The metro is nearby for when you want your dose of malls and skyscrapers. Food at the...

The Art around the hotel isn't that great ironically, but the concept of living like a wealthy Arab would have back in the day is what makes this place special. So special in fact, tourists from other hotels come through its doors at all times, making the 'resident tourists' feel like displays in a gallery. Staff are tip-top, nothing too...

It is a very interesting concept. They have restored some old houses near the fort in a rustic style. Everything is in good state and there are artistic items all over the place. The rooms are a bit small but comfortable and clean and the air conditioning works well. The bathrooms are very nice. The breakfast is very good and...

The XVA Art Hotel is the hidden gem of Dubai! It is an absolutely beautiful hotel that is unlike any other hotel I have stayed at. My sister and I were traveling through India and before returning to the U.S. we spent a few days in Dubai. Ending our trip at XVA hotel was the best experience of our entire...

Excellent location, rustic and close to the less glitzy Dubai. Was very comfortable despite the heat and restraunt was a very nice. Especially liked sunrise on the roof and listening to the call to prayer from across the city. Only thing that I would suggest is more Arabic music (even contemporary) be played in the restraunt....the US pop ruined the...

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stylish and peaceful boutique hotel, XVA is set within the heart of Al Fahidi quarter, formerly known as Bastakiya, the oldest region of Dubai. Unique for its Persian architectural heritage, its maze-like alleyways and proximity to the Creek, Al Fahidi is viewed today as one of the cultural centrepoints of Dubai. XVA occupies a renovated traditional majilis-style building, boasting original architectural motifs and wind towers and three open courtyards, in which one can relax and soak up the exceptional atmosphere of this heritage space. XVA’s Art Hotel includes twelve boutique rooms, designed by well-established designers and artists from the region. These include Zayan Ghandour, Numa, Nada Debs & Karim Rashid (Gaia&Gino). The XVA Art Hotel is covered in many national and international travel publications. Featured in Condé Nast Traveller as one of the 10 hotels to stay in Dubai and in 2006 as the number 1 “Not To Miss” spot in Dubai, Wallpaper magazine mentioned us as a boutique hotel to stay. Lonely planet listed us twice in their recent Dubai guide as a place to stay and to have lunch. “All rooms are generally very good, but dont go to the one upstairs which is meant for Art groups. They offer this room when the hotel seems is sold out, at a slighly discounted rate. The catch is that it has a shared toilet, room with no TV, no phone and just quite boring. You will not want to have such a room when you are on a holiday.”
