The Grand Excelsior Hotel Bur Dubai receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating the spacious rooms and the hotel's vibrant blend of traditional and modern design. While the atmosphere is generally praised for its liveliness and friendly service, some visitors have raised concerns about cleanliness, including pest sightings and water leaks in rooms. The amenities are a point of contention; some are pleased with the cleaning service and dining options, yet others find the room service and toiletry offerings lacking. The hotel's location is mostly seen as convenient, though opinions on its overall value vary among travelers.

I stayed in Grand Excelsior for 7 days at premium room 711, and it was really wonderful accommodation. This hotel will give you the real feeling like you are at home. Room is spacious, wide with a nice open view up to Burji Khalifa. Room service is amazing and whatever you need, Excelsior team will do his best to make you so satisfied. Breakfast is reasonable specially delicious fruits section, if you are a fan of Indian food, so you can enjoy the breakfast as i can see different Indian cuisine.

The metro station is about 15 minute walking to “ADCB” or “ Sharf DG”. Also, there is a nice swimming pool on top floor plus SPA.

I also request to extend my check out up to 4 pm and they welcomed with my request.

Jessy from reception team is really super friendly and supportive. she does her best to assist you and solve any problem you have.

It was really a great experience in an amazing hotel. Thanks Grand Excelsior hotel team for your hospitality. See you soon again

We had a 10 day stay at the hotel. I would like to highlight the good aspects first:

Majority of the tourist places are easily accessible from the hotel. So 5/5 for its location. The size of the room is great with ample of storage. The bathroom is clean and well maintained. International buffet menu was really good. The buffet staff and house keeping staff are polite, courteous and helpful.

The hotel can improve in the following areas:
The room furnishings look old and worn off. At first it may look dirty.
The front office staff/reception really need to be more courteous as mentioned by one of the other guest as they may seem rude and may displease the guests.
The Indian buffet menu can be improved in taste.

Overall it was a pleasant stay with good value for money. Recommended for budget stay.

It was a fabulous stay in the hotel. I have been here for 5 days in a Viceroy Suite but only because of their super awesome service i extended my stay for 2 more days. The Supervisors Swapnil and Aadil were willingfully available at night 2am. The housekeeping Incharge Navneet was so helpful that it just made me to book the hotel for a couple of days and i only explored the hotel for 2 days. The food is terrific and full of variety.

I wish to come here again.

Do come here and book a Viceroy Suite which is amazingly cheap and a huge room full of amenities.

Thank you Excelsior!

I will try to be as fair as possible as this was a mixed bag with a screw up by Expedia and aware it’s a very reasonably priced hotel. If you don’t want to read this review here’s a summary out of 5.
3- Location
3- Rooms (we were upgraded to a very strange suite)
1- Service (terrible online, on the phone and in person)
All in all for the price it wasn’t too bad for a stop over but I prob wouldn’t stay there again.

The hotel is not too far from the airport (15min) in Bur Dubai, an Indian/Pakistani area. Its not really near anything so you’ll have to hop in a taxi to get anywhere. Use street taxis, the hotel taxis are dbl the price.

We booked a deluxe room for 4 only to find out it only had 1 dbl bed instead of 2 as advertised. We had to send about 10 emails to change this as nobody understood what we were asking.

We arrived at 5 am and were in our room by 10am. Cleaning staff don’t start until 9.30/10 so if you really need an early book in you will have to wait or hope they were not fully booked.

Too good tip. Turn left out the front of the hotel and walk 10 mins (2 min taxi) and at the main junction there are loads of great restaurant with all nationalities. We had a great Lebanese.

Any house keeping service is delivered after you give them at least 2-3 reminders. My bathroom came up with problem of only hot boiling water in all taps.. washbasin and shower. After 3-4 reminders and waiting for 1 hour, a person arrived in my room to check the problem. He could not repair, got another expert from Engg team, but after making me wait for 4 hours they could not repair. When I raised concern that i am stuck up because unable to take bath, and requested them to give me access to any other room for 10 minutes to take quick shower, they denied room availability. When i asked why they can't give me access to spa wash room on top floor, they said it would be chargeable. Not once any staff had regrets or apologies. They were trying to avoid my desparate phone calls to reception and house keeping. Bad experience overall.

We had visited This Hotel Grand Excelsior Dubai with a group of friends with family.
The hotel doesn't has enough bell boys who can handle luggage to the rooms of the guest.The check in process in this hotel takes too much time,The hotel is very reluctant in serving welcome drink to the guests.
Hotel doesn't has Swimming pool,hotel rooms needs maintenance.The house keeping staff doesn t comes to your service on times they are always late & hard of hearing to your requirements.
The bed quality is good and the bathroom is neat and clean.
Breakfast is not worth eating as there are no live counters,no proper arrangements for breakfast,totally cold breakfast.Avoid the breakfast.
Useless breakfast.
They have a Night club also in the hotel & the entry is free but you have to pay for the drinks if you sit inside.
If you want to have good Veg.&Non-veg food etc.there is a restaurant just back side of this hotel in "Four points by sheraton" named "Puraani Dilli" there you will get good food.
There is a indian restaurant in this hotel also we never ate here.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days & we could not express anything positive about this hotel.
Overall please try to avoid this hotel is anyone is planning to go to Dubai.
Useless Hotel.

During my stay in this joke of a hotel a fire broke out (see photos). The staff reacted hysterically running up and down the lobby screaming (!) from there (instead of knocking in every room) that we should evacuate.

So we did to the front of the hotel not to its rear where the assembly point is. This happened because the hotel keeps its rear doors locked (as shown in photograph) even tough those doors are, obviously, emergency exits.

Somebody decided to unlock said doors and made us move to the rear of the hotel, to the assembly point, exposing everybody to the risk of fire but avoiding a fine from the authorities.

More “highlights” from this “hotel”:

 No COVID cleaning rules whatsoever followed, especially in the overcrowded lobby and restaurants.Waiters “cleaning” tables with bare hands;
 Mediocre food. The only Mexican feature in La Cantina restaurant is its name;
 La Cantina awful service: half and hour to serve a soup and still asking for a tip while making every effort to deny me a discount from front desk;
 Awful housekeeping service. Everyday something was forgotten: a towel, the bath math, toiletries and yet they literally chased me for an undeserved tip;
 In a different occasion, they took two full hours to bring me extra towels and two hangers. They say nobody told them and, again, demanded a tip;
 Lukewarm water, a sink that can not be blocked without risking damage and a reading lamp that was never fixed by a disrespectful and arrogant “maintenance manager”, barely an adult;
 Every time I emptied the tub water came out of the sink and the toilet. Gross!
 Every night until the wee hours noise from relentless parties;
 Internet continuously braking or downright suspended. Around midnight and until the next day no signal in the room;
 Awful channel selection on TV also with signal suspended for hours;
 Three useless outlets in the room. No USB outlet, of course.

Too long a list to continue.

As a senior gentleman summarized it: " I am tired of complaining . It is not like in Europe or the USA. Managers simply do not care"

Lack of training leads to absence of supervision, quality standards and team work resulting in a defensive attitude from all employees.

Avoid this one star hotel disguised as a four stars establishment. Not even its sign works

I know hotel comes under 4star category because it has pool, steam bath & sauna bath but when i went steam & sauna was under maintenance for 7 days of my stay, so it brings the hotel down to 3 star category.

Hotel is not new which i saw in many reviews or they have taken-over an old hotel, whatsoever rooms don't have windows which can be opened for ventilation. Not enough light, 2 bed lamps gives the light to rooms which is a bad administrative choice.

Services
Pros
Room service was the only service which i felt were good enough to undertake our request.

Cons
It's not that great, nor you will feel welcoming by anyone.
Reception people doesn’t pick the call at one time.

Food
Pros
I was lucky that I can order food from outside & I can bring to room.

Cons
I feel restaurant was given to contract, so people who was managing was so not good.
They have literally same variety (watermelon, muskmelon) entire 7 days when I was there & once its over there is no refill.
Options & taste of food is not at all good.
In the name of chicken for morning only sausage is given.
The worst part comes now, the Manager of restaurant Mr. Vijay in-front of me told to other guest that hotel closes in 10 mins (10 o’clock) so eat fast & leave. (I was seriously shocked by hearing this & was happy as I had finished my food.)
I asked the chef who was standing “Can I get some more brown bread & yogurt, the reply was awesome - I do not know where it is kept & anyways we are gone close in 15 mins, so it will not be served”.

This is not my first international trip but this kind of hospitality is not what I except after paying money.

i recently stayed at this hotel whilst i was visiting dubai for 2 weeks and me and my family decided to book 3 rooms and honestly was one of the best experiences ive had from a hotel mainly because of two people who took really good care of me and my family, although i was in a hotel, but the way these 2 wonderful people took care of us we all felt as if we was at home, not only did they do their tasks of room service, they were honestly wonderful people to speak to. if you visit this hotel make sure you ask for mirza who made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel at home and also kushal who is an incredibly hard working man and is a very nice person who he also made us feel at home. this review is for the people who are booking this hotel but its also for grand excelsior bur Dubai to appreciate they have 2 of the best room service staff. Thank you Mirza and Kushal for your excellent hospitality, hopefully someone else shall experience your amazing service.

Id also like to say its a pretty good location if you want to visit dubai mall as it isnt to far and its not even that far from meenar bazar and the free transport they offer which takes you to certain malls and beach is wonderful for a family experience. The gym is also very good.

But one down side to this wonderful hotel, my brother went in to a sports bar which was near the main entrance in the hotel and because we are from england we didnt realise the restrictions that under 21 are not allowed in any sort of bars but coming from where we are we was not alert of this and the bar didnt even have a sign up, so my son went in to see the football match and the staff of the bar appear to harrass and abuse my 16 year old brother and they was screaming in his face shouting"This is dubai if you dont like it get out of the country" she also then shouted that she could get a fine for serving him, but as a muslim family we are 100% sure we are not going to drink any alcohol we just came in there to see if they had the particular football match we wanted to watch, this is really ashame as this ruined the mood of all of us as the whole staff then continued to argue even when we he got out the bar. I would honestly give this place a 5 star rating but for this disgusting behaviour i shall be reduct 1star giving it a 4 as that for sure did not make us feel welcomed at all.

Thanks again grand excelsior. But please do not go anywhere near the staff at the bar they are disgustingly rude and its ruined the reputation of this hotel absolutely shameless

We stayed here for 4 nights in 5-9 Jan with group of 16 PASSENGERS and for someone who's been to 4 star hotels, I would not rate this hotel as ANY star. The bathroom closet had urine stains on it as we checked into the room which was unpleasant as we usually expect to come into a neat room after a long travel. The management and staff seemed no attentive AT ALL to customers, overall hospitality did not match the standards of the brand name. Room was average, cleanliness on the lowest side, no minibar (they said it is available in the lounge near the reception), limited toiletries that did not meet 5-star standards (included dental kit, cotton buds, mini soap, shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, shaving mirror), water available additionally at a price (you even can't take it at breakfast time. Amenities like body lotion, iron, bathtub were not available.
We reached there AT 12:30 PM and the lady and the reception told us that the actual check in time is 3 o'clock so we have to wait their and she checked all the vouchers in her system and said that yes your rooms are confirmed won and please wait here up to 3 o'clock and if I get some room earlier I will give it to you but up to 5 o'clock we haven't get any room and she don't know whether the rooms are clean or not no housekeeping was replying her I don't think that they had any communication at all and at 5 o'clock when I shouted at them they give us 7 rooms and said that we don't have confirmation for 8th room your room is cancelled because they are overbooked they don't want to give us the room. Even when I had book this room in July 2023 for January 2024 now after 5 hours she is telling me that I don't have room I don't have then I ask for my travel agent she told me that she has booked the room in advance after having a word with her hotel give me room now how can it is possible that instantly you can give us a room and earlier you are saying that you don't have any room. In my life I never experience this. I am TRAVELING from 2008 & this is the worst. Never ever go there.
