I just finished my stay at Mina and apparently our first time to Dubai as a family, we did really have a good time and services ranging from Dining in one of the best restaurants Shimmers on the beach, The resort little golf carts otherwise known as buggies which was mostly loved by my son. The resort indeed offers a lot in terms of variety and a range of services which are family friendly . Everyone we met was actually nice though we could not miss to highlight Ian who really made an impression from the time we arrived and for the many recommendations he made to us during our stay ranging from visiting the Expo and local attractive sites that really made our stay memorable. If there was ever a time i was lost for words or just overwhelmed, it was while we had 10 wonderful nights staying at this beautiful resort for the first time! I was blown away by the service and incredible food everyday. We had by far the best experience ever while in Dubai.. i thought the Atlantis was a great resort ln previous holidays to Dubai, but the Madinat Jumeirah resorts are all out of this world and absolutely top the Atlantis in terms of service and food.. ok well basically everything! We could use all the pools across the resorts (not The burj al arab) and they were all brilliant, for adults and children! Our favourite being the infinity pool at Mina A’salam. Stunning views and at sunset… wow!!! We absolutely loved the beach, the sea is so warm and the waves were nice and calm with stunning views of the Burj al arab! Super clean and incredible service! Always topped up with bottled water either by the beach or pool which was so needed during the very hot weather. The staff who run about in the heat providing drinks and food deserve a very big thank you from myself my family and my friends. The frozen treats were a big hit with our kids and adults alike in the heat! Amazing! The half board option was great, we really enjoyed the buffet breakfast, we have no complaints at all, the staff were so friendly and often had our drinks on the table before we returned to our table having remembered what they were so we didnt need to ask staff. The restaurants included in the half board were all fantastic, delicious and always piping hot! If i had to choose one dish across all of the resort restaurants that we tried it would be the apple crumble and vanilla custard dessert at Dhow and Anchor at Jumeirah beach.. we went back a second time for that!! We visited Jumeirah zabeel saray which is on the palm twice to take advantage of the Indian and Lebanese half board options too which were both amazing!! Such a stunning resort too!! All of the restaurants across the resorts were great.. if i could say one negative thing, it would probably be that the service was a little slow at times, especially at Tortuga - Mina a’salam. But it didnt stop us visiting a second time as the food was great, but we did have to tell the waiter we had an evening booking somewhere else at a certain time so that they could speed it up. We loved having an e-butler to book the restaurants for us and to help with any questions we had re bookings. We booked restaurants a few days in advance as booking on the day was sometimes not possible. But with so many restaurants to choose from you wont go hungry. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, cleaned twice daily with fresh towels and bedding and a turn down service of an evening was just something else ive never experience at any resort in the world… slippers laid out, TV turned around, chocolates left on the bedside cabinet with a glass and bottled water and gifts for my daughter left on her bed (these little things will be so memorable for her and it was amazing to see her so surprised each time we arrived back into the room) I loved using the coffee machine before heading out in the evening! Really nice coffee too. The buggy and boat service were both fantastic and highly appreciated in the heat, the service was great, sometimes a little wait, but no more than 5-10 mins. Wild wadi is a great bonus to these resorts with kids, fantastic water park for them to enjoy for a few hours here and there :) We loved visiting shimmers, it was such a lovely chilled vibe on the beach, with shisha and drinks! Highly recommend an evening there. Talise Spa was beautiful, i didnt want to leave, it was such a calming and soothing atmosphere, my massage was so relaxing and i was just in awe of such beautiful surroundings!! The facilities were great and the packages they offered were fab. Worth visiting even to just relax for an afternoon which was included in our stay! Thank you to all of the staff at Mina a’salam for making us feel so welcome and all the other staff across the resorts for such wonderful memories and a 5* experience!! If i could give you more stars i would!! It was way more than we could ever have imagined!! Until the next time… thank you!

Loved our stay in Mina A'Salam, such a peaceful and subtly romantic setting which was perfect for us to celebrate our anniversary. Staff here provide the best service and hospitality and were so thoughtful by surprising us with hand-written cards, delicious cakes and drinks and a beautiful flower bed decoration on our anniversary night which made the whole experience that extra special. It is safe to say we will definitely be back here in the future!

This hotel is part of Jumeirah hotels complex and tourists can use facilities (beach, pools, restaurants) of the Jumeirah group. Beautiful sand beach - the only problem is that very often is full and there are no beds available. But there are enough beds around swimming pools and after lunch usually some of the beds on the beach will be vaccant. Otherwise the hotel is little older but clean and the whole service is on high level. Another small problem is that in half board one can choose from about 20 restaurants but not ohnly one must make reservation but in quite a few of them guest must pay some extra charge. And all drinks are very expensive. So one must await that in dinner for two it will cost antoher 100 to 200 euros above the prepaid half board.

Mina a Salam, once one of the symbols of the spotless luxury service of Jumeirah Hotels, is slowly entering the cone of darkness taking it from a five star high end luxury property, catering to a selected discerning clientele, to a run of the mill tourist place featuring a pay-no-mind attitude and an unpleasantly surprising laissez faire management style. Here are a few aspects experienced by my family, during the first week of November 2021, while guests at the property, things observed in the context of our almost annual visits for at least ten- twelve years in the past, followed by a couple of years break due to – amongst other reasons – the pandemic and this year’s return to, what it always was, one of our favorite hotels in the world. Doormen, taxi stand: there is a dubious little scam going on, in which people are chosen by the doormen and placed into regular taxis or those white car-service-like white Lexus limousine-looking sedans, based on a scenario known only by them. And – mind you – it is not a simple “dollar based” algorithm which I know so well from New York and I don’t mind at all playing. The doormen are running their own little mafia there, having to do with their preferred drivers and those drivers preferred destinations, which looks like a weird dance for an un-initiated. We have waited – us and others like us, very unhappy people – for more than half an hour on our first night out, to be placed into a cab. And this was not because of too many people and not enough cabs, or that I didn’t have my 20 dirhams note out in my hand so it could be seen. I simply didn’t fit their profile, I was going too close-by, I had the kids with me (??)… After strongly protesting, I was put into a cab just so they get me out of there as I was obviously a nuisance to their little operation. I was later told by a driver that it’s a matter of a power struggle between cab and limousines companies on one side and the doorman group on the other, based on the first ones paying or not kickbacks to the latter. I won’t say it officially because I don’t have any proof that it is true but – definitely – something weird was going on and a group of us were simply ignored and passed on. And every one of us were – naturally – pissed-off. After the experience that evening when I’ve almost lost my restaurant reservation, I’ve hired a private limousine to come pick me up every evening before dinner, at an additional cost, of course. Housekeeping: not once, our rooms were not attended to for the regular cleaning until 5pm. And than at 6:00 pm they knock the door again for the turn down service. Nine times out of ten, one would naturally refuse the turn down service, so very close to the regular one, especially that they’d be in the room showering and getting ready for dinner. This way, they do, in large majority, just one service per day, instead of two. I’d call it a bit of a scam too. Gardners and landscapers: I used to admire, while I was doing my early morning jog throughout the property alleyways, these early riser groups of green overalls clad men, tending to the bushes and lawns and trees with their tools. In passing them, they’d turn and wave or say good morning and sometimes even smile. Now, five out of six of them they’re on the phone, texting or what have you, not paying attention to the bushes, nor who pass them as they’re absorbed in the chat or whatever they watch on their portable devices. Would this be an inevitable sign of the times or poor management? The room: they look and feel like fifteen years ago, with the inevitable wear and tear and some of the amenities being either broken, malfunctioning, chipped or missing altogether. In one of our rooms the phone was not ringing (it took and engineer half a day to come and an hour to fix), the connection between the balcony window closing sensors and the air conditioning on/off switch had to be wiggled with to work, there was no shoe horn or clothes brush and the couch was stained, while the furniture had evident signs of wear and tear. Room assigning process: after our late check in (around midnight), we were offered, as requested, one of the “family connecting rooms”. It’s just that the rooms were located in an area of the hotel which was in full swing renovation and evident signs that we were in the middle of a construction site, very active during the day, were everywhere. When I’ve protested, my kids were moved in a different area of the hotel and on a different floor and my wife and I remained in the initial room for that one night. Apparently that was the only solution for that night as the hotel was sold out. The next day when they could move us again, we found out that the connecting room scenario we hopped for was not possible in the new location as there was an occupied room in between. So in order for us to obtain the initially requested arrangement, we had to wait until this room checked out, three days into our stay. So we benefited of the requested arrangement just half of the vacation. Not ideal, I’d say, plus we had to change the room (pack/unpack) three times in a week to get to what we wished for in the first place. I must say that it was for the first time in more than ten years that this happened to us. I must say that all these happened while there are some very good, professional people still working there: Elena and Camelia (sorry if I’ve mistaken your name!) FO supervisors, Dia at the front desk, Aaron at the bell desk, Zoriana at Shimmers. Please forgive me if I’ve forgot anyone who helped make the best out of this this rather not-so-pleasant stay. Although I’m sorry to see this once so prestigious property go in this no return direction and despite nostalgia and my so many years of loyalty to this once so charming place, I will not go back to Mina a Salam next time. For better or worse, I’ll try my luck somewhere else.
