Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The room was not very sound proof - noise from outside very audible and loud sounds heard from adjacent rooms. The couple in the room across we’re having a loud and physical domestic argument which spilled out into the corridor around midnight - with security of the hotel involved.
The room itself had quite a musty odour - not sure if but was from the AC unit or the carpets but it was an uncomfortable smell.
Beyond that, hotel was relatively clean and the reception staff, concierge and security staff were all very polite and helpful with the the reception team in particular being very nice, engaged and interested in the quality of stay for the guests.
Not sure I would stay here again as there are better quality options for a similar price in the surrounding area

Once checked in they said king bed is not available what we booked, they offered twin bed, when I have denied they told me to wait and given room after 20 min. Only one lift was warking another out of service.lift have technical issue where again and again have to validate room key and select floor number as its not selecting or selection gone automatically. Very small hotel and renovated as understood it was one of poor hotel earlier named Holiday Inn.
However room was very small but clean.
Gym is very small and poor, very old equipment is available on their poor conditions.
Location is good as closed to Al Rigga Road, few restaurant are just nearby.
Overall - can be booked for a short night for a sleep, if reasonable rate is there. Otherwise not recommended.

I and my group of companie's staff always stayed in the Excelsior Hotel downtown Dubai in the last year 2023. All the bookings were done 100%. The Hotel is very close to central Dubai. Amazing restaurants around the Hotel like the JusGrill In Al Rigga and a large shopping mall very close, like within walking distance. There is one negative manner the hotel is managed. The hotel staff is brilliant from when you enter the door to your room. Upon entering your room I can mention a few staff member's names, Syed, Jenny, Mustafa, Grisha, Umair, Zekoji, Ritesh, and Surjeet all these staff members are always very humble, respectful and helpful. They do all their work as professionals and proactively, what a pleasure to stay in a 4-star hotel with such a winning team. I think the manager Mr Amine Idraiouiche can be grateful for having this championing team with him. The Metro Bar is also an excellent hangout for beer, food and excellent entertainment, with Irene and Christine rocking the bar on time every time. As far as the food or kitchen goes, they need a better chef as the restaurants around the Hotel have amazing food. Their rates are not always the best, but the staff member like the names mentioned above make up for that with their amazing professionalism. I can only say good things about the hotel, but if they remove the staff my Group of Company's staff will look for a new hotel close by, the Excelsior Hotel to stay. So Mr Amine, please keep this amazing staff you have together otherwise, my group of companies will go and stay in a hotel close by. Everything is waaaay less then average. First of all you will struggle to find a place in the parking then coming inside a Horrible loud music in the collider and rooms day and night non stop. Rooms are smelly curtains in a terrible condition the bed soooooooo uncomfortable. You will struggle to get your room cleaned they won’t change the towels they will just put everything back!!!! The breakfast! Oh wow that was the biggest flopp ever, no choices, fruit and everything is so unappetizing. In general not even a 2 stars hotel!!! So unrecommended !!!! Not worth it at all. Feel sorry for the staff who are very friendly and trying their best to satisfy the customers.

The Excelsior Hotel Downtown is a exceptional property for both business and leisure travellers. The hotel is located close to famous landmarks. The hotel restaurant is outstanding with good variety of dishes, and all the staff of hotel are very accommodating and hospitable, specially 'Princess' the receptionist who always have a smile on her face and seemed to genuinely care and provide excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Firstly read between the lines of my review as undoubtedly it will be moderated.
I warn anyone who is looking for family friendly, high standards in cleanliness, accommodating staff, relaxing environment, then DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
Upon arrival the hotel is situated in a (unbeknown to us) a less desirable part of town, and the pictures on all review sites/Instagram are very very deceiving. Stepping out of the car, just outside the hotel, my shoe was greeted with a card offering massage services.
Check in took 20 minutes, 1 member of staff, lobby a flurry of activity of all kinds of people, many working hard…. And their minders by their side.
Room stunk of cigarettes, communal hallways filthy! (See pictures taken), all kinds of stains/marks/fluids on surfaces in the room.
Walls very thin could hear coughing and various other delights through the walls.
Seems to be a glorified mini Amsterdam this hotel with doors being knocked on at all hours of the night, and not what you’d expect if you’re looking for a relaxing nights sleep.
Booked 5 nights for 2 of us in 2 rooms, was refused a refund after 1 night, had to move. Totally vile! And watch out the room tax amount is much much higher than any other hotel I’ve stayed in when visiting Dubai, so something not right there. I couldn’t warn enough to not even consider this hotel, it’s not even close to 2* in standard. If the spa makes the star rating go up, then the hotel inspectors should visit and see there is nothing here that qualifies this hotel.

We had booked for a single day stay initially in the property. But the warm welcome and the hospitality of the front office staff Ms Princes just made our day we should say. She was amazing in her dealing with the guest. Very calm, well mannered, welcoming in nature, very sensitive to the needs of the guest, neat and the tidy and much more. The best front desk staff we dealt with compared to our experience in previous hotels in Al Rigga itself. The best staff with the qualities required for the hospitality field. We highly recommend this property for all the areas as in very clean, cleanliness is given at most priority, room ambience was the best to say, and even the house keeping staff one from Pakistan was well mannered and readily available when needed. All the room services were readily made available as per the requirement of the guest. Very impressed. Beautiful experience it was indeed. Even the gym service and the swimming pool experience to was remarkable. Though all the services were available it never caused a hinderance to the guest's privacy. As in to say though bar and restaurant availability was there it never an obstacle for the calmness of the property atmosphere. With all these beautiful experience on the very first day itself we finally decided to stay for 4 days. And the experience was the getting each day. Thank you Ms Princes as you were the one we communicated on the very first day in your property and it was your hospitality and the way you dealt with the guest made us rethink about the stay in your property for more days. We appreciate the property for your effort in choosing such beautiful and hospitable staff like Ms Princes in your property.

This has been one of the most poorly managed hotel, I’ve stayed during the last 45 days. Rude, full of attitude & unwelcoming reception staff, who will deny you checkin if you fail to pay at checkin, for the entire stay. This is usually done at checkout and they blatantly refused to accept a credit card guarantee, which is a standard norm globally.
Then comes the rooms, which are small, completely outdated and poorly lit, facing a building and parking lot making it extremely claustrophobic. My repeated request for changing the room went deaf ears as they claimed to be sold out, where as the hotel is available as per concierge and housekeeping staff and on all major OTA’s. This is the trap you fall in when they charge full payment on checkin.
The housekeeping team is in shambles and provided 1 towel for 2 people as their laundry had not been received till 22:00 hours!! So bring your own towels
The super loud music from 2 in-house clubs was a big nuisance yesterday, though they are quite tonight..
This is Day 1 and don’t know what’s in store for the next couple of days.
No wonders brand Holiday Inn withdrew from this property.

Worst hotel in my life , i stayed there for four nights from the arrival This hotel has had problems since the day I arrived. One thing that surprised me was who gave the four star rating to this hotel. Who awarded the four star status to this hotel After first coming and standing at the reception, I entered the hotel and after waiting for almost half an hour without even considering that I was with my wife and two small infants the lady receptionist named Laliya was even ready to talk. After that offical checkin procedures were completed and we were allotted the room in third floor After complaining about this in the room, they told me to wait. When I paid the full amount and gave me money, I was ready to move to another hotel. They showed me another room 723 in seventh floor it’s a good and we moved to that room . Tired from the long journey, we sat down for lunch the restaurant was for lunch, and the receptionist's reply was literally shocking The restaurant here is open for breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening only. I refused her suggestion that i don’t want to have my food in my room the same same receptionist Lalila told if u want to have from room or have your lunch from outside. We went and had the food from outside, also i decided not to have dinner or lunch from the hotel all days we had both foods from outside restaurants. Breakfast buffet we came with our two infants the service person told it was a buffet. The spread of buffet was was very poor , quality of the food very poor . When I asked a service person for some tea, he replied, "If you want, there is some milk tea bag there go and take and have it." People in a customer service are there to serve people. If you put people with low and negative attitude like this, it is never good for hospitality industry. Well trained people should be placed here. People who do not have this kind of service attitude, have negative thoughts, speak and act without respect, and if these types of jobs are assigned to them, the organization cannot continue for long. The only thing that was good about this hotel for the four days that I stayed here was the cleaning of the room by the housekeeping department, they were very clean and tidy, they treated people well and had good manners.security also good . The attitude and behaviour of the receptionist Lalila very very bad and hearted us . After all, at the time of checking out the room, it was asked to send someone to collect the luggage, we waited for half an hour and then came down, but no one came. It is very sad that we bring 4 bags with two small infants. Waited about 45 meters up and only after a person was sent to the room to collect the luggage when we complained about it she didn’t gave an apology and without any kind of expression in her face , yes we were treated like people who came to stay for some bounty it was a very hurtful incident in our life The people and their actions are very very bad in this establishment in the hotel from except housekeeping department to the security department.
